LaVerne Aluzas, 73, of 1302 S. McKinley St. in Harrisburg died at 8:55 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday March 22 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Harold Williams officiating. Burial is in Lindale cemetery in Eldorado.
William Edward Dickerson
William Edward Dickerson, age 84, of Eldorado, died at 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2000, at his home at 703 Boyd St., Eldorado.
He was born in Galatia on May 31, 1916, to the late William Houston and Ethel Mae (Goodman) Dickerson, who preceded him in death.
William was a longtime businessman in Eldorado. He owned and operated Dickerson's Store from 1937 to 1973. He was the third generation of Dickersons to be in the grocery business. He also was part owner of several supermarkets (Food Park) throughout southern Illinois.
William faithfully answered the call of his country during World War II, serving in the United States Navy. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Eldorado since 1938. He was also a member of the Eldorado Lion's Club and the American Legion.
He was united in marriage to Frieda Mae Tate on May 12, 11938, in Morganfield, Ky. Together they shared 55 years. She preceded him in death on Sept. 30, 1993.
Surviving are a son, Edward and wife (Vicky) Dickerson of Eldorado; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Allen Corbin of Sparta, Ruth and Bill Meyer of Omaha, and Billie Sue and Roy Graves of Perryville, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Ruth Marie (Dickerson) Scott.
Also surviving are a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Lovean Scott and several nieces and nephews.
Per Williams' request, his body has been cremated. Arrangements will be handled by Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado.
There will be a memorial service on Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at the First United Methodist Church in Eldorado. The family will be at the church at 5 p.m. if friends wish to call.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the First United Methodist in Eldorado or to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Mary F. Rister
Mrs. Mary F. Rister, 77, of Eldorado, died at 10:28 p.m. Saturday, May 27, 2000, in St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She was born March 14, 1923, in Golconda, to the late Albert and Emma (Joiner) Barter.
She married
Landis Rister on Oct. 29, 1949. He survives.
Mrs. Rister was a member of College Heights Baptist Church and the Norris City Eastern Star No. 783 Order of the Eastern Star. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Don and Alice Petty of Harrisburg and Mike and Dorris Petty of West Frankfort; three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Clayton Poole of Harrisburg, Mike and Sandy Gwaltney of Broughton and Landa Rister of Eldorado; a stepdaughter, Vickie Martin of Harrisburg; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews, Mary Lee, Donna Kay, Sherry Sue, Lela, Joanne, Albert Lee, Jerry, Patty, and Alberta.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2000 at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. Dr. Larry Pugh will officiate. Burial will be in Jackson cemetery in Ridgway.
Curtis H. Dodd
Curtis H. Dodd, 94, formerly of Eldorado, died Monday, May 20, 2000, at Hurstborne Care Center in Louisvlle, Ky.
He was a retired Shell Oil Distributor and member of First Baptist Church in Eldorado.
Surviving are a daughter, Jane D. Smith of Louisville; a stepdaughter, Linda Bottomley of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a step-daughter-in-law, Marian Tison; and a step-son, Dycus Tison, both of Harrisburg; eight grandchildren; eight-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Edith Gibson of Eldorado.
He was preceded in death by his wives, the former Mayme Wilson and Pauline Tison Dodd.
Services will be at 11 a.m Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Bruce Cullers will officiate. Burial will be in Lindale cemetery at Eldorado.
Lorene Vinyard
Lorene Vinyard, 73, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of the Harrisburg area, died at 6:15 a.m. Friday, May 26, 2000, at the University Village in Tampa.
She was born Jan. 25, 1927, in Harrisburg, to the late Harvey and Ricka (Dingler) Vinyard. Miss Vinyard was a Baptist by faith. She was never married

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Sunset Gardens cemetery at Harrisburg. The Rev. Mike Davis will officiate.
There will be no visitation at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Ceble C. Willmore
Ceble C. Willmore, 85, of Eldorado, formerly of West Frankfort, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado. He was born Sept. 2, 1914, in Franklin County to William and Effie Mae (Maugle) Wilmore.
He worked as an electrical engineer for Kimberly-Clark Co. Survivors include a daughter, Pat Wood of Chicago; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchilden; a daughter-in-law, Ann Willmore of St. Charles, Mo.; and a sister-in-law, Vergia Willmore of Benton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Kenneth Dean Willmore and David Dale Willmore, a sister, Opal Boren, and two brothers, Noble and Thomas Willmore.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000 at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Billy Duncan will officiate and burial will be in Tower Heights cemetery.
Virginia Williams
Mrs. Virgina Williams, 77, a resident of Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado, died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, May 29, 2000, in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
She was a former resident of rural Golconda.
Surviving are a son, Bradley O. and wife, (Sandy) Williams, rural, Elizabethtown; a daughter, Mrs. Hansel (Benita) Cook of Tinley Park; a brother, Lowell Ralph of Lyons, Ore.; a sister, Mary Amstutz of Salem, Ore.; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Clara (Warren) Ralph, her husband, Wayne Williams, and two sisters, Imagene Holcomb and Lucille Frailey.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at Hosick Funeral Home Chapel in Rosiclare, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Charles DePriest will officiate. Burial will be in Stone Church cemetery at Rosiclare.
Ivan A. Elliott
Ivan A. "Johnny" Elliott, 76, of Carmi, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at his home.
He was the president and senior partner in the law firm of Conger & Elliott in Carmi. He was a World War II Army veteran and retired lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve and an elder in the First Presbyterian Church in Carmi.
His wife, "Parkey"; three daughters; and a brother, survive.
Services will be at 11 a.m Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church with burial in Maple Ridge cemetery at Carmi with military rites.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi and from 10 a.m. to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the church or a favorite charity.
Bobby Gene Stilley
Bobby Gene Stilley, 68, of Murphysboro, formerly of Harrisburg, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at 2:15 a.m. in Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, Mo.
He was born in Harrisburg on Sept. 15, 1930, to the late Dallas and Opal (Reynolds) Stilley.
Mr. Stilley was an insurance adjuster employed by General Adjustment Bureau.
On April 15, 1954, in Cave-in-Rock, he married
the former Margie Ruth Partain. Other survivors include a daughter, two sons, a sister, six grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, 2000, at the United Methodist Church in Murphysboro, where he was a member. The Rev. Robin Lyons will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Carbon cemetery at Murphysboro.
Lillie Mae Duke
Mrs. Lillie Mae Duke, 66, wife of G.C. Duke, of 1115 W. Barnett St., Harrisburg, died at 8:27 p.m. Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on March 19, 1933, in Jackson, Ky., to the late Bruce and Lila Ann (Nix) Childers. She attended Dorrisville Social Brethren Church.
She married
Mr. Duke on Oct. 6, 1951. Also surviving are four sons, Ronald C. Duke of Union Lake, Mich., Donald J. Duke of Clarkston, Mich., Daniel R. Duke of Cripple Creek Colo. and Samuel B. Duke of Union Lake, Mich.; two brothers, Rex Childers of Richmond, Ky. and Tex Childers, of North Carolina; four sisters, Hazel Cox of Richmond, Ind., Alice Noble of Jackson, Ky., Brenda Childers, Richmond, Ky. and Evelyn Bowlen, Jackson, Ky.; 17 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Isabelle Walters and Margaret Childers, a brother, Carl Childers, and a grandchild.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Bernie Cowgill will officiate and burial will be in the Saline Ridge cemetery.
