Norma M. Taylor
Mrs. Norma M. (Phelps) Taylor, 69, of 278 Frame Rd., Elkview, W. Va., died Monday, July 26, 1999 at the CAMC-General Division, Charleston W.Va.
Surviving are her husband, George J. Taylor; three daughters, Jeanie Taylor of Clendenin, W. VA., Judy Bramell of Elkview and Donna Withrow of Poca, W. Va.; three sons, Rex Dean, Donald Wayne and Tracy, all of Elkview; four sisters, Beulah Hall of Fairfield, Alberta Roberts of Raleigh, Fern Wiggins of Carmi and Florence Cash of Nevia, Minn.; a brother, the Rev. Charles Phelps of Eldorado; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Poca Fork Baptist Church in Elkview.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to service time. Pastor Danny McClung will officiate.
Burial will be in Douglass cemetery.
Marie Jackson
Mrs. Marie Jackson, 89, of 215 Butler Rd., Harrisburg, died at 5:55 a.m. Wednesday, July 28, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born on Sept. 9, 1909 in Harrisburg to the late Taylor and Dora Spurlock. On Nov. 17, 1937, she married
Alvis Jackson. He died Jan. 13, 1996.
Mrs. Jackson was a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Loren and Tammy Jackson of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Floyd and Claude Butler.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Dr. Larry Pugh will officiate and burial will be in Butler cemetery.
Mildred Lovellette
Mrs. Mildred Lovellette, 83, widow of Hice Lovellette, of 665 Hall Loop Rd., Eldorado, died at 8:05 p.m. Tuesday, July 27, 1999 in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1916, in Boxville, Ky., to the late Sylvester and Ella (Farmer) Owens.
She was married
to Mr. Lovellette on Nov. 23, 1935 in Raleigh Township. She was a member of Crossroads Church of Christ.
Surviving are three sons, Lonial R. Lovellette of Morris, Lindell J. Lovellette of West Lafayette, Ind. and Liman K. Lovellette of Norris City; a daughter, Ginger F. Lovellette of Henderson, Ky.; two brothers, Omer Owens of Anna and Houston Owens of Seattle, Wash.; a sister, Frances Ferguson of Princeton, Ky.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Two sisters and four brothers preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lindale cemetery in Eldorado. The Rev. Charles Walls will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado.
Regina Marie Schimp
Services for Mrs. Regina Marie Schimp, 64, of Eldorado, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 30, 1999 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldorado, where she was a member. Fr. Don Abell will officiate and burial will be in St. Mary's cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where the prayer service and Rosary will be said at 8:30 p.m.

Mrs. Schimp, wife of Kenneth Schimp, died Tuesday, July 27, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.
Garrett Cook
Garrett Cook, age 15, accidentally drowned Monday, July 26, 1999 in Lusk Creek near Golconda. He was pronounced dead at Hardin County Hospital in Rosiclare.
He was born on Aug. 25, 1983 in Herrin the son of Sandra (Schwieger) Cook of Golconda and Clifford Cook of Hopkinsville, Ky.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Samantha Cook of Romeoville, Rachell Cook and Cassandra Cook, both of Golconda.
Garrett was a freshman at Pope County High School.
The body will be cremated. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Aly Funeral Home, Golconda Chapel, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Tony Harris will officiate.
Memorials may be made to the Garrett Cook Memorial Fund or the Pope County Ambulance.
Bertice 'Bert' Stewart
Services for Bertice "Bert" Stewart, 80, of West Frankfort, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Parker-Reedy Funeral Home in West Frankfort, where visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
The Rev. Dan Madrigal will officiate and burial will be in the Herrin City cemetery.
Clementine Elizabeth Duane
Mrs. Clementine Elizabeth Duane, 89, of Galatia, died Wednesday, Sept. 22. 1992 at the Woods Point Nursing Home in Florence, Ky.
Mrs. Duane was born Dec. 5, 1909, in Pomeroy, Ohio, to the late Leonard H. and Anna Marie Scholl.
On April 14, 1932, she married
James A. Duane. He preceded her in death in 1986.
She had been a member of Galatia Baptist Church for 53 years and was a past member of Galatia Rebekah Lodge for 45 years.
Surviving are four sons and three daughters-in-law, Jerry and Trula Duane of Vienna, Va., Sam and Betsy Duane of Tempe, Ariz., James and Joni Duane of Florence, and Lennie Duane of West Frankfort; and seven grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Konard, Ivan and Melvin Scholl.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Galatia First Baptist Church. The Rev. Harl Cockrum will officiate and burial will be in Webber Camp Ground cemetery at Galatia.
Visitation will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation and may be left at the funeral home.
Truman Gwaltney
Truman Gwaltney, age 106, died at 7:55 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999 at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. He was born Feb. 19, 1893, in Hamilton County, son of Larkin W. and Mary Jane (Wilson) Gwaltney. He was a grain farmer. Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Betty and Roy Kenneth Doerner of Carmi and Madeline Gaines of Eldorado; and a son and a daughter-in-law, Ned and Avis Gwaltney of Norris City; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Mary Douglass Wilson Sept. 28, 1915. She preceded him in death April 22, 1983. A daughter, Thelma Reynolds, four sisters, Della Davis, Rada Nelson and Effie and Etta Gwaltney and a brother, Jimmy Gwaltney. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with the Rev. Nicholas Showalter officiating. Burial in Douglass cemetery in Broughton. Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Chester Carden
Chester Carden, 93, former Eldorado resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 1999 in Hartford, Ky. He was born Aug. 9, 1906, in Ohio County, Ky.
He was a crane operator and a member of the Pleasant Grove Masonic Lodge.
Surviving are a daughter, Sheri Linker of Polo; a son, Gene Carden of Greenville, N.C.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eula Harder of Beaver Dam, Ky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Carden.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Harl-Geary Funeral Home in Fordsville, where friends may call after 1 p.m. Saturday until the funeral hour. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove cemetery at Ohio County, Ky.
Millard Bennett Jones
Millard Bennett Jones, 83, of Carmi, died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999 at White County Medical Center in Carmi.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Velma Ruth Jones and a son, Millard LaWayne Jones.
Surviving are two daughters, Reta Jones of Carmi and Lois Worley of Paducah, Ky.; two sons, Don Jones and Edward Jones, both of Paducah; a sister, Edith Grace of Shawneetown; a brother, Jack Jones of Illinois; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. Thursday at Cave Hill cemetery. Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-in-Rock was in charge of the arrangements.
