Roy D. Wise
Roy D. Wise, 74, of 5625 Hwy. 145 South, in the Mitchellsville community, died at 4:28 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 6, 1925, in Saline County to the late Wick and Wanda (Burklow) Wise.
Mr. Wise retired as District Supervisor from Southeastern Illinois Electric Coop after 39 1/2 years. After his retirement he served on the Board of Trustees at SIEC for several years.
He was also a past member of Board of Education for Harrisburg Unit 3 School Board.
He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, where he had served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
He married
the former Yvonne Seten on Aug. 31, 1946. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Suzanne Wise of Birmingham, Ala. and Terri Wise of Evansville; a son, Roderic Wise of Pekin; and two sisters, Donna Futrell of Sandwich and Lora Wise of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, Heather Ryan, Jaima McReynolds and Megan McReynolds; and a great-granddaughter, McKenzie Ryan.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Leroy Hicks will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery at Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Kathryn June Adamecz
Mrs. Kathryn June Adamecz, 51, of McLeansboro, died at 10:50 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
She was born in Dec. 29, 1947, in Eldorado to John W. and Dorothy (Biggerstaff) Russell.
She was a former operator of McLeansboro Cafe and was also a quality control inspector at Sun Transformer Co. in McLeansboro.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church in McLeansboro.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Stephen Adamecz; a son, Vernon "Peanut" Perryman of Joliet; two daughters, Linda D. Mariani of Cambridge and Vicki and her husband, George Nalley of McLeansboro; her mother, Dorothy Russell of McLeansboro; a stepdaughter, Cindy and her husband, Jason Cates of Cortland; her grandmother, Jennie Biggerstaff of McLeansboro; four sisters, and brothers-in-law, Bonnie Jean and Bill Smith of McLeansboro, Patricia and Kenneth Jones of Mulkeytown, Peggy Sue and Steve McGill of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Pamela and Mike Smith of Cathedral, Calif.; a brother, John "Butch" and wife, Hilda Russell of McLeansboro; six grandchildren; and two step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Russell, a stepson, Stephen Ray Adamecz, and a sister, Judith Russell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Carl Leek will officiate and burial will be in Smith cemetery at Dale.
Lucille Tison
Mrs. Lucille Tison, 82, of Owensboro, Ind., died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999 at her home. She was the widow of Noble Tison.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Hazel Mullinix and Ava Lyons, both of Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Oma Gibbons.
Funeral services and burial were today at Owensboro, Ind.
Katherine Capps
Services for Mrs. Katherine Capps, 97, of Eldorado, will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Eldorado. The Rev. Don Abell will officiate and burial will be in St. Vincent cemetery at Morganfield, Ky.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Lawrence K. Wooley
Services for Lawrence K. Wooley, 82, of East Alton, will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 5, 1999 at Earl Jones Funeral Home in Equality, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Bill Jones will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood cemetery at Equality.
Mr. Wooley was a former resident of Equality, and died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 1999 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Maxine R. Desper
Maxine R. Desper, 70, of Omaha died Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998 at 5:35 a.m. at her home following an extended illness.
Born on July 6, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Lane and Edith (Carney) Desper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Eubanks and her brother, Charles Desper.
She was retired from McDonnell-Douglas Aviation in California where she worked as an executive secretary. She also held a pilot's license for small aircraft.
She is survived by two nieces, Glenda and Ron Baker of Ridgway, and Sharon Wuest of Severna Park, Md.; a nephew, Ron Desper of Rancheo Cordova, Calif.; a great-niece, Sara Wuest; two great-nephews, Kevin Baker and John Wuest; and a great-great-niece, Morgan Lane Baker. Services, with Rev. Dennis Buttery officiating, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway where visitation was held Friday.
Burial will be in Oak Grove cemetery at Cottonwood, Ill.
Mrs. Lillian L. Trover
Mrs. Lillian L. Trover, 82, a resident of the Carrier Mills Nursing Home, died at 5 a.m. Friday, Jan. 1, 1999, at the nursing home. She was a former resident of Simpson.
She was born in Simpson on Aug. 5, 1916. She was the daughter of Otto and Floy Ellen (Stout) Thomas.
Mrs. Trover was united in marriage to Edward M. Trover Sr. on Dec. 19, 1936. He preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 1990. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Eldon Logan Thomas and Otto Raymond Thomas, and a sister, Betty Lou Haden.
She was a retired cook and was employed by the former Mount Shelter Care Home, near Vienna for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Reynoldsburg Church near Tunnel Hill. She enjoyed cooking, candy-making, and visiting with her family and friends.
Mrs. Trover is survived by a daughter, Ludene Treat of Harrisburg; two sons, Tom Trover and Edward M. Trover Jr. both of Tunnel Hill; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:30 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Rev. Bud McDannel will officiate. Burial will be in the Reynoldsburg cemetery, Tunnel Hill. Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Memorials may be made to the Reynoldsburg Church or to be Alzheimer's Association. Memorial envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Milo Hull
Milo Hull, 87, of 645 Liberty Road, Harrisburg died at Harrisburg Medical Center at 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, 1998. Born on June 23, 1911 in Eagle Creek, Mr. Hull was the son of William Allen and Sarah Elizabeth (Tolbert) Hull. On June 14, 1939, he married
the former Mary Robinson, who survives.
Mr. Hull was an agent for Wheaton Van Lines, and a member of the McKinley Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Victor and Ralph Hull.
Along with his wife, Mary, he is survived by two sons, Gary Dean Hull and Terry Allen Hull; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Saturday at Gaskins Funeral Home from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with the funeral service to begin at 2 p.m. with Rev. G.E. Coultas officiating.
Burial will be in Sunset Gardens cemetery.
Raymond M. Carroll
Mr. Raymond M. Carroll, 85, died on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1998 at Parkway Manor in Marion. He was a former resident of Harrisburg.
Mr. Carroll was born on May 4, 1913 in Melvin. He was the son of the late Fred Ellis and Edna Mae (McLain) Carroll. On June 9, 1940 he married
the former Mayme Reed, who preceded in him in death on July 20, 1976. On January 19, 1983, he married
Glady Caley Gibbons, who survives.
Mr. Carroll was a watchmaker and jewler. He owned and operated a jewelry store in Harrisburg. He was a member of the American Gem Society and the Gemiological Institute of America. He was a member of the Third Baptist Church of Marion.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Along with his wife, Gladys, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Gaskins Funeral Home with The Rev. Jerry Ford officiating. Visitation was held Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery.
Lora Rude Wilkinson
Lora Rude Wilkinson, 94, of Milan, Mich. died on Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998 at the Saline Evangelical Home in Milan.
A former resident of Harrisburg, She was born on Oct. 1, 1904 in Cypress to Silas A. and Mary Ellen (Adams) Rude. On Jan. 16, 1961, she married
Leo Wilkinson in Milan. He preceded her in death on Oct. 28, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and three brothers.
Mrs. Wilkinson was a charter member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Milan. Survivors include a stepson, Bill Wilkinson, of Milan and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will precede burial at Sunset Hill cemetery in Harrisburg at 4 p.m. Saturday. Those attending should go directly to the cemetery.
Gaskisn Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
