Mary Maxine 'Jackie' Ward
Mary Maxine "Jackie" Ward, 75, of Galatia, died Sunday, Jan. 10, 1999 at the home of a sister, June Hall of Galatia.
Further family details and funeral arrangements will be announced later from the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.
R. B. Oliver
R. B. Oliver, 93, of Norris City, died at 1 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999 in Fountainview Nursing Home at Eldorado.
He was born on March 10, 1905, in Ridgway, to the late Leonard and Naomi (Brown) Oliver.
Mr. Oliver retired as a star route mail carrier.
On March 25, 1925, he married
the former Marie Thaxton. She preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1987.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James Clayton and Lillian Oliver of South Bend, Ind.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wilma and Jerry Merdith of Denver, Colo., Wanda and Jim Shatzsall of Athens, Texas, and Martha and Earl Christie of Norris City; 20 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Gene Oliver and Bob Oliver, six brothers, five sisters, and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Barry Winders will officiate and burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery at Eldorado.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to the VNA Hospice of Eldorado and may be left at the funeral home.
Marriel T. Asbell
Marriel T. Asbell, 87, of 617 W. Barnett in Harrisburg died at 4:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 1999 at his residence.
Mr. Asbell was born on July 20, 1911 in Blodget, Mo. to the late Marriel and Ida (Schnake) Asbell Sr. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jewel Patterson.
He married
the former Ruth Pankey on Nov. 21, 1952. She survives.
He was a laborer and a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Ruth, he is survived by a sister, Elizabeth Johnson of Carrier Mills and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Tom Pelt will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Gardens cemetery at Harrisburg.
It was Mr. Asbell's requests that flowers be omitted. For those who wish donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and may be left at the funeral home.
John Marion Belt
John Marion Belt, 86, of Elizabethtown, died at 5:10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 8, 1999, in Hardin County Hospital at Rosiclare.
He retired as mill foreman from Ozark-Mahoning Mining Co.
Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John L. and Yvonne Belt of Conway, Ark.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sue and Bill Nowack of Medina, Ohio, and Judy Irvin of Rosiclare; two sisters, Georgia Sisco of Girard, and Mary Alice Truman of Augusta, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Golda M. Belt, a daughter, Carol Jean Belt, and his parents, Commodore and Rachel (Palmer) Belt.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 11, 1999, at Hosick Funeral Home Chapel in Rosiclare, where visitation was held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Mark Stanton officiated and burial was in Peter's Creek cemetery near Elizabethtown.
Charles A. Wallace
Charles A. Wallace, 59, of RR 2, Golconda, died Saturday morning, Jan. 9, 1999, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 13, 1939, in Hardin County, to the late Dallas and Gussie (Rorer) Wallace.
He was a laborer and a U.S. Army veteran having served in Germany.
On Nov. 8, 1969, he married
the former Dorothy Wooff, in Alton. She survives. Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Monica Wallace of Golconda; a daughter, Amy Wallace of Alton; four grandchildren, Dakota, Cheyenne, Alexandra, and Amber Wallace; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Leonard and Vivian Wallace of Golconda, Dale and Helen Wallace of St. Louis, and Roger and Joyce Wallace of Golconda; three sisters, Carlene Dunstan, Sally Poole, and Nigel Wallace, all of Elizabethtown.
Graveside services will precede burial at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 12, 1999 at Prospect cemetery near Golconda. The Rev. Jerry Wells will officiate.
Friends may call at the Aly Funeral Home at Golconda after 11 a.m. Tuesday until service time.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
Kathleen Marie Gobin
Kathleen Marie Gobin, 61, of 121 W. South St., Harrisburg, died 7:10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at her home.
She was born July 12, 1939, in Linton, Ind., to Stanley Lehman and Mary Ellis.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Oct. 23, at Gaskins Funeral Home of Harrisburg. Funeral services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Gaskins Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Davis will officiate. Burial is at Salem cemetery in Carrier Mills.
Mrs. Gobin was a 1957 graduate of Carrier Mills High School.
Dr. Paul Willis McKinnis
Dr. Paul Willis McKinnis, 91, of 2209 Forrest St., Eldorado, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at Parkview Care Center in Evansville, Ind.
He was born Oct. 1, 1909, to the late John and Zula McKinnis of Eldorado.
Dr. McKinnis was cremated. Visitation is noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the First Church of Christ on Walnut Street in Eldorado and will be followed by a memorial service at the church. The service will be officiated by Howard Scott, with assistance from Herb Buche and Bryan Morrow. Burial is at Wesley cemetery in Eldorado.
Watson Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, family members ask that donations be made to the First Church of Christ in Eldorado or the American Cancer Society.
Glenden R. "Roger" Pryor
Glenden R. "Roger" Pryor, 65, a resident of Crest Hill, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 6, 1934, in Harrisburg to the late Iva and Ralph Pritchett. He was married
to Nancy L. Pryor of Crest Hill for forty-four years. She survives.
Visitation is 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. today, Oct. 23, 2000, at Curtis Avenue Baptist Church, 1110 Curtis Avenue, Joliet. A memorial service is 6:30 p.m. today, Oct. 23, 2000, at Curtis Avenue Baptist Church. The Rev. Clark Llewellyn will officiate.
Mr. Pryor was retired from Reynolds Metals Company after over thirty-five years of service. He was also a U. S. Army veteran. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Norman Pryor of Crest Hill; a son Kevin (Angie) Pryor of Joliet; a daughter Tammy Smith of Crest Hill; four grandchildren Lenny, Anthony, Michael, and Justin; a brother Monty (Sharon) Pritchett of Joliet. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son-in-law Leonard Smith.

Thomas H. Hardesty
Thomas H. Hardesty, 65, of Cave-In-Rock, died 6:18 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at Hardin Co. Hospital.
Visitation is 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. today, Oct. 23, 2000, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home of Cave-In-Rock. Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at the funeral home. Mr. Hardesty was cremated.
Mr. Hardesty is survived by a fiance Dwanna Jones of Cave-In-Rock; three sons Thomas and Jerry Hardesty of Beecher, and David Hardesty of Jamestown, Wis.; two daughters Barbara De Filippo of Calumet City, and Deborah Von Alven of Beecher; mother of his five children Shelby Hardesty of Beecher; four brothers, James Hardesty, Burt Hardesty of Elizabethtown, Dennis and Kenny Hardesty of Indiana; four sisters Clara McDonald of Ark., Dixie Hardesty of Ind., Marjorie Hardesty of Ind., Sherrie Hardesty of Ind.; and nine grandchildren.
Mildred Stacey Cremeens
Mildred Stacey Cremeens, 74, of Equality, died 5:40 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at her residence.
She was born March 25, 1926, in Shawneetown to Herman and Lela (Thompson) Stacey. She married
Allen Cremeens April 4, 1945. He survives.
Service is 2 p.m. today, Oct. 23, 2000, at Vickery Funeral Chapel of Equality. The Rev. Robert Patton will officiate. Burial is at Hogan cemetery in Shawneetown. Visitation was 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at Vickery Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Cremeens was a bookkeeper and parts woman at M & S Implement of Equality for twenty-six years. She was also a homemaker and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Junction.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her mother Lela Stacey of Junction; a son Charles Allen (Janet) Cremeens of Equality; a son Robert Earl (Lea Ann) Cremeens; a daughter Ruth Ann (Larry) Fulkerson of Equality; a daughter Deborah Jean (Larry) Price of Elizabethtown; four brothers Jim Stacey of Houlka, Miss., Joe Stacey of Carrier Mills, Donnie Stacey of Simpson, Paul Stacey of Shawneetown; five sisters Helen Fuchs of Harrisburg, Neva Thompson of Shawneetown, Wanda Burpo of Harrisburg; Emma Smith of Shawneetown; Wilma Stacey of Harrisburg; eleven grandchildren Matthew Cremeens of Equality, Sarah (Sean) Martin of Omaha, Benjamin (Heather) Cremeens of Champaign, Megan Cremeens of Equality, Allen (Salena) Glover of Carmi, Tim Glover of Carbondale, Kevin Cremeens of Equality, April Cremeens of Carlinville, Lisa Price (Scott) Probst of Teutopolis, Michael Price of Elizabethtown, Stacey Price of Elizabethtown; and five great-grandchildren Zachary Glover of Equality, Kyle Glover of Equality, Elizabeth Martin of Omaha, Justin Probst of Teutopolis and Jessica Probst of Teutopolis. She was preceded in death by her father and a brother William Stacey.
