James 'Jimmie' Darwin Davis
James "Jimmie" Darwin Davis, 66, of Eau Claire, Mich., died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, after an extensive illness.
He was born March 16, 1921, in Stonefort to the late Lawrence and Emma E. (Williams) Davis. He accepted Christ at the age of 13 and was baptized on Jan. 10, 1952 and was a member of the Bright Star Tabernacle. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1951.
He retired from Bendix, St. Joseph Division on Feb. 28, 1983 afterr 30 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Nol 437, St. Joseph for 36 years, receiving a Grand Commander's Service Award on Sept. 28, 1996.
His hobbies were raising goldfish in a spring fed pond and worked with scrap metals and recycling. He was written up once as a local feature story for his hobby in the Herald-Palladium.
On May 29, 1953, he married
Anna Frances Williams. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Phyllis) Tidey of Dowagiac, Mich.; a son, James Darvin Davis of Eau Claire; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothea) Tunis of Berrien Springs, Mich. and Mrs. Wilma Benefield of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, and three step-grandchildren.
His young daughter, Sharon Faye Davis died in 1996, his mother in 1983, his father in 1987. and a brother-in-lw, Robert in 1998.
Masonic rites were given Friday night at the Bright Star Tabernacle and the memorial service was given Saturday morning. Interment was in the Shanghai cemetery.

Emil L. Jones
Emil L. Jones, 82, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Gallatin County, died at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
He was born in Equality, to the late Kincheon L. and Hettie May (Roye) Jones.
He retired in 1981 from Creasey Wholesalers. He was also a World War II Army Air Corp veteran in the North African Theatre. He was with the 27th Squadron First Fighter Group.
Mr. Jones was a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church in Evansville, Veterans of Foreign War No. 1114 and American Legion in Evansville, and the Teamsters Union Local No. 215.
In 1951, he married
the former Velda Leavell. She survives along with two daughters, Wanda Lee Smith of Evansville, and Betty Jo Petty of Waterbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, Devon Petty, Jodi Kendrick, Adam and Ross Smith; a sister, Mary Goforth of Sparta; and two nieces, Lois Lee Jones and Mary Kay Jones, both of Ridgway.
She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Boone Funeral Home, Washington Ave., Evansville, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Parklawn Mausoleum in Evansville. Vickery Funeral Chapel of Ridgway is in charge of the local announcements.
Guy King Patterson
Guy King Patterson, 76, former Harrisburg resident, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in Boca Raton, Fla. Further family details and funeral arrangements will be announced later from Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Angelo Oliboni
Angelo Oliboni, 77, of 213 S. Vine St., Harrisburg died at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, 1999 at his residence.
He was born Dec. 20, 1921 in Raleigh Township to Giuseppe "Joe" and Adele (Molinarolo) Oliboni.
On Nov. 29, 1945, he married
the former Imogene Reed at St. Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg. She survives and will continue to reside in Harrisburg. Also surviving are his daughters and sons-in-law, Myra and Les Feuquay of Tucson, Ariz.; Marsha and Greg Eubanks of Sesser, Mendy and Jerry Hansen of Atlanta, Ga.; Jill and Tom Pastore of Clinton, Ind., Jan and Mark Guard of Paducah, Ky., and Ginger and Michael York of Harrisburg.
Angelo was also blessed with 13 grandchildren: Angela and Derek Feuquay, Jacqueline Doussa, Ty Straube and Michael Eubanks, Erin and Mitchel Guard, Emily and Gia Pastore, and Kate, Hannah, Colin and Phillip York.
He is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Virgil and Betty Oliboni of Ocala, Fla.
His parents, and a sister, Zita Pesavento, preceded him in death.
He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and the American Legion. His restaurant, Angelo's, was a favorite gathering place for friends, family, students and civic groups for over 20 years. Most recently, Angelo greeted the community at Harrisburg Wal-Mart for nine years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving his country for four years during World War II.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Harrisburg with the Rev. Don Abell officiating. Burial will be at Lindale cemetery in Eldorado.
Donations in memory of Angelo may be made to the American Heart Association.
Nell Reed Swan
Mrs. Nell Reed Swan, 86, of 1219 S. McKinley St., Harrisburg, died at 6:41 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born June 26, 1913, in Briceville, Tenn., to the late Page and Maud (Probert) Duncan.
Mrs. Swan was a homemaker and a former florist and was owner of Reed Flower Shop. She helped organize and was a member of the Shasta Trailer Club.
She was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg.
Surviving are a son, Larry and wife, Wilma Reed of Harrisburg; a stepson, Jerry and wife, Carolyn Swan of Galatia, two grandchildren, Steve Reed and Trena Nave and their families; and four great-grandchildren, Stevi and Micah Nave, Gretchen and Victoria Reed.
She first married
Leo Reed April 3, 1933. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 1975. On March 26, 1977 she married
Wayne Swan and he died in 1997. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Lorene Burklow, a brother, Vora M. Duncan, and a stepson, Max Swan.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Ron Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery at Harrisburg.
Vesta G. Thorne
Vesta G. Thorne, 74, of 802 Boyd St., Eldorado died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 in Lourdes Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1924, in Sparks Hill to the late Cecil Esdon and Edith Adeline (Milligan) Winters.
She married
Ray Thorne on March 9, 1946, in Morganfield, Ky. He survives. Other survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Tena Thorne and Steve and Denise Thorne, all of Eldorado; three daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Keith Casteel, Judy and Lenwood Chandler and Lisa and Jerry Givan, all of Eldorado; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Leonard and Kathleen Winters of Junction, Bob Winters, Bill and Jeanie Winters, all of Eldorado and LaVerne "Bub" Winters of Gallatin County; a sister, Florence McDowell of Calvert City, Ky.; eight grandchildren, Bobby Dale Bean, Beth Casteel, Belinda Bean, Brian Bean, Amy Farr, Jimmy Ray Thorne, Julee Thorne, and Jeri Amanda Given; and six great-grandchildren, Megan Bean, Brett Casteel, Clint Casteel, Jonathan Bean, Kasey Bean, and Ashlee Farr.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Gospel Assembly Church in Eldorado, where she was a member. The Rev. Dewayne Jolly will officiate. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery in Cave-in-Rock.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado and after 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
John Wesley Logan Bishop
John Wesley Logan Bishop, 89, of 6715 U.S. Hwy 45, South, Carrier Mills, died at 1:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 19, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born on Sept. 23, 1909, in Thebes to the late John Cyrill and Ella Mae (Colbert) Bishop.
Mr. Bishop was a farmer and carpenter and was a member of the Carpenter's Union.
On March 27, 1929, he married
the former Audrey Rovena Miller. She survives along with two sons, Robert and wife, Betty Bishop of Bunker Hill and Glen and Betty Bishop of Harrisburg; two brothers, Walter Bishop of Thebes and Martin Bishop of San Antonio, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 22 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Russell Bishop and a daughter, Ella Mae Burn.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Salem cemetery at Carrier Mills.
Stephen Sisk
Stephen Sisk, 44, of Waukegan, died there Saturday morning, Sept. 18, 1999.
Surviving are his father, Herbert "Hoby" Sisk of Equality; twin brother, Steven Sisk of Waukegan; a sister, Marsha Nolen of Wisconsin; and a half sister, Patty Ciaccio of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lydia Sisk.
The body has been cremated. Memorial services will be at a later date in Equality.
Mary (Angelly) Thirlaway
Memorial services for Mary (Angelly) Thirlaway, 79, of Broughton, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20, 1999 at Hickory Hill cemetery at Broughton. The Rev. Carl "Dink" Phelps and David Angelly officiated. Military rites were by American Legion Post #106 of McLeansboro.
Memorials may be made to TIP Hospice of Southern Illinois.
Sloan Funeral Home of Galatia was in charge of the services.
