John Edd Alvey
John Edd Alvey, 69, of 1303 S. McKinley St., Harrisburg, died at 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, 1999 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
On Dec. 29, 1951, he married
the former Genevieve Reynolds. She survives. Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Roscoe (Rocky) and Liz Alvey of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Larry Stell of Mount Vernon, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jesse, Jerusha and Ethan Alvey; a brother, Royal Alvey of Belleville; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Ed Urmanski of Wausau, Wis., Ruthelle and Lawrence Hayden of Sandoval, and Barbara and Bernie Farris of Ridgway; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born on Jan. 2, 1930, in Saline County to Raymond and Mildred (Payne) Alvey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, Ginger Kay Alvey, and a sister, Mildred R. Alvey.
Mr. Alvey was a real estate broker and appraiser. He was a member of Big Ridge Baptist Church, Saline County Mr. and Mrs. Club, a 10-year leader of the Riding Rover 4-H Club, past president of the Saline County Farm Bureau for 12 years, Past Patron of the Order of the Eastern Star in Equality, Past Master of the Equality Masonic Lodge No. 2, Scottish Rite Bodies of Illinois and the Ainad Shrine Temple.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Kenny Hayden will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery at Harrisburg.
The Masonic rites will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
For those who wish, memorials may be made to Shriner's Children Hospital and may be left at the funeral home.
Marion J. Rorer
Marion J. Rorer, 71, of 1000 West Sloan St., Harrisburg, died Monday morning, Jan. 25, 1999 in Harrisburg Care Center.
He was born on April 27, 1927, in Rosiclare, to the late Mr. and Mrs. William Rorer. Mr. Rorer retired from Old Ben No. 26 Coal Mine.
A son, Richard Rorer of Johnston City and a daughter, Helen Harmon of Pittsburg; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren, survive.
Graveside services preceded burial at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lakeview cemetery in Johnston City.
Gaskins Funeral Home of Harrisburg was in charge of the arrangements.
Anna Mae Golden
Mrs. Anna Mae Golden, 74, of Shawneetown, died at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 1999 at the home of her daughter, Rose Cox in Harrisburg, after an extended illness.
She was married
on Dec. 9, 1950 to Dale Golden, who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1987. Mrs. Golden was born on Nov. 2, 1924, to the late Henry and Sarah (Murphy) Doerr.
She was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in the Ponds Settlement Community near Ridgway. Surviving are four daughters and a son-in-law, Marie Hise of Shawneetown, Rose Cox of Harrisburg, Toni and Terry Glover of Equality, and Stephanie Golden of Shawneetown; a son, Kevin Golden of Shawneetown; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Taylor Lynch and Edna and George Baldwin, all of Shawneetown; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, William, Lawrence and Louis Doerr. Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 1999 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ridgway. Fr. Ray Engelhart officiated and burial was in Westwood cemetery in Shawneetown.
Visitation was held Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Cox and Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, where a prayer service was held at 7 p.m.
Ralph Bobby Dean Milligan
Ralph Bobby Dean Milligan, 63, of 1010 E. Walnut St., Harrisburg, died at 11:20 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born July 17, 1936, in Eldorado to the late Coy and Daisy Milligan.
On June 30, 1956, he married
the former Sharon Ann Wilhite. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Bobby Leo and Dale James Milligan; three daughters, Judith Ann Beam, Kathy Jo Seely and Cynthia Sue Carmickle; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer Ann, Sarah Elizabeth, and Thomas Jeffrey Beam, Mark Wayne and Derrick James Seely, Rachel Lynn, Bethany Eve and Caleb Dale Milligan, William Randall, Bryan Eugene, and Jeremy Lee Carmickle; two sisters, Betty McKendrie and Lorene Hooten of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Warren and Sylvester Milligan.
In 1965, Bob, along with his family founded Milligan Scrap Yard at 129 W. State St. in Gaskins City. In 1974, the business was moved to its present location at 1010 E. Walnut St.
The visitation is at Gaskins Funeral Home from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Apostolic Church in Wasson, where he attended for 19 years. The body will be taken to the church at 11 a.m. Wednesday to lie in state until service time. The Rev. Bob Prather will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.
Janice Herron
Mrs. Janice Herron, 88, a resident of Quiet Oaks Assisted Living Center in Ocala, Fla. died there at 8:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000.
She was born May 7, 1911, in Harrisburg, to the late Grover and Nellie (Baker) Abney.
She was a member of Harrisburg First Baptist Church.
In 1934, she married
Waldo B. Herron. He died on July 17, 1993.
Surviving are a daughter, Carolyn W. Hoffman, 110 60 S.W. 63rd. Terrace, Ocala, Fl 34476; four grandchildren, Dave Mark and Doug Mark, both of Rockford, and Darin Mark of Jacksonville, Fla., and Melissa Atkins of Denver, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Mitsdarffer of Ridgway and Pearl Sisk of Junction.
She was preceded in death by a brother, G. L. Abney and a sister, Mary Jane Cummins.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call after 10 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Mike Davis will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery at Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Harrisburg First Baptist Church Building Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
Florence Rister
Mrs. Florence Rister, 92, of rural Omaha, died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Raymond Mitchell
Raymond Mitchell, 66, of 1880 Raintree Road, Carrier Mills, died at 5:06 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, 2000, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 7, 1933, in Pope County, to the late Arbey Lee and Essie Mary (Jackson) Mitchell.
He is survived by a brother, Henry Mitchell of Carrier Mills; and several cousins and friends.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where visitation will be after 11 a.m. until service time. Burial is in the Walnut Grove cemetery.
Carl A. Carlisle
Carl A. Carlisle, 84, of Fort Scott, Kan., formerly of the Galatia area, died at 10:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in the Mercy Hospital in Fort Scott.

Robert J. 'Joe' Pritchett
Robert J. "Joe" Pritchett, 86, of Galatia, died at 9:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
He was born Oct. 18, 1913, in Williamson County, to the late Ezra Eugene and Alfia (Thomas) Pritchett.
He married
the former Thelma Peyton and she preceded him in death Aug. 1, 1990.
Mr. Pritchett was a coal miner and a self employed farmer. He had worked for Peabody Coal Co., and Freeman United Mine.
Surviving are four sons, Robert C. and wife, Martha Pritchett of Raleigh, Roy S. and wife, Margaret Pritchett of Galatia, Rick and wife, Merlina Pritchett of Galatia, and Vick and wife, Patricia Pritchett of New Harmony, Ind.; three daughters, Patricia Paris of Redding, Iowa, Laura Brown and her husband, Howard of Slaughters, Ky. and Judy and husband, Doin Smith of Hebersprings, Ark.; 31 grandchildren; and 41 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William Roy Pritchett, a sister, Genevieve (Aileen) Harpster, two brothers in infancy, and two grandchildren, Kathelene Pritchett and Jamie Paul Pritchett.
Services are at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and from 8 a.m. until service hour on Friday. Burial will be in Brushy cemetery.
