Pearl Aldridge Stout
Mrs. Pearl Aldridge Stout, 80, of Tinley Park, formerly of Harrisburg, died at 3:38 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1999 in Countryside. She was born March 16, 1919, in Harrisburg to the late Elmer and Florence (Fowler) Allen.
Mrs. Stout was a homemaker and also worked in the cafeteria at Fisher Body Co. She was a Baptist by faith.
She married
Obern Aldridge on Jan. 27, 1936 and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1970. She then married
Mack Stout, who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Donna Becker of Willow Springs and Helen Sue and husband, Louis Kozar of Countryside; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Spangler and a granddaughter.
Mrs. Stout has been cremated as to her wishes and a private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg. The family requests no flowers.
Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg is in charge of the arrangements.
Clifford M. Hawkins
Clifford M. Hawkins, 75, of 1000 S. Ledford St., Harrisburg died at 11:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 at his home.
He was born Jan. 8, 1924, in the Battleford area of Saline County, to the late Joel Levi and Myrtle M. (Aldridge) Hawkins. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Nashville in the South Pacific.
Surviving are his wife, Margadean (Dennis) Hawkins. They were married
in 1946. Also surviving are three daughters, Susan Speckman of Metropolis, Emily Park of Richardson, Texas and Priscilla Hawkins of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Alexander Mawdsley and Amanda Austin, both of Metropolis, Joel Park and Clifford Park, both of Texas; four great-grandchildren, Kayla Mawdsley of Washington, Brianna Mawdsley, Erin Mawdsley, and Sydney Austin, all of Metropolis; two sisters, Wanda Nunn of Wood River and Evanelle Rector of Harrisburg; two brothers, Joe Hawkins Jr. of Cahokia and Bill Hawkins of Granite City.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Darrell Hawkins and a grandson, Chancy Park.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tueday, Nov. 23. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery at Harrisburg.
John Coleman
John Coleman, 71, of 927 W. Barnett St., Harrisburg, died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, 1999 at Harrisburg Care Center. He was born April 5, 1928, in Marion, Ky., to the late Herbert and Myrtle (Markey) Coleman.
Mr. Coleman was a retired auto mechanic.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlynn Coleman-Allen of New Orleans, La. and Lisa Coleman of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Johnny Allen Coleman of Springfield; a brother, Luther Coleman of Harrisburg; four sisters, Eulene Coleman of Harrisburg, Yvonne Flody of North Chicago, Opal Coleman of Kenosha, Wis., and Eunice Coleman of Racine, Wis.; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will precede burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24 in Lakeview cemetery at Carrier Mills. The Rev. Ownly Williams will officiate.
Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Wednesday until service time at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Wanda Martin
Mrs. Wanda Martin, 72, wife of Bob Martin, of Fair Grove, Mo., formerly of Junction, died at 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 in St. John Hospital in Springfield, Mo.
Surviving are her husband, Bob Martin; two sons, Dale Martin of Harco and John Martin of Ellington, Mo.; a daughter, Marlin Brewer of Fair Grove; and seven grandchildren, Mary Henshaw of Harrisburg, Heidi Hicks of Junction, April Mathews, the Rev. Dale Martin and Gene Martin of Harco, and Wayne Martin and Howard Martin of Missouri.
Services are pending in Missouri.
John Henry Winders
John Henry Winders, 85, of rural Herod, died at 3:37 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, 1999 in the South Gate Health Care Center in Metropolis.
Surviving are two sons, John Marion Winders of Herod and Charles Deon Winders of Mattoon; two daughters, Shirley Mae Minnie of Bethalto and Ethel T. Winders of Herod; four brothers, Ulyss, Berlie, Herman and Herbert Winders; three sisters, Bela Board, Lula Shores and Mae Winders; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Treva B. Winders, a brother, Ewell Winders, and three sisters, Roxie Suits, Nora Suits, and Marie Drumm.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Bill Green will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F cemetery in Elizabethtown.
Carl Chiles
Carl Chiles, 83, a resident of the Rock community in Pope County, died at 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 1999 in Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky.
He was born Sept. 29, 1916, in Massac County to the late Thomas and Hattie (Jakes) Chiles.
He was a retired iron worker and a member of the Dixon Springs Church of Christ.
On Feb. 5, 1935, he married
the former Halene Grisham, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Connie (Chiles) Ward of Metropolis and Shirley White of New Baltimore, Mich.; a son, Milton Chiles of Denver, Colo.; two sisters, Anna Jenkins of West Land, Mich. and Edna Warmack of Arkansas; six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Services are at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999 at Aly Funeral Home in Golconda, where friends may call after 6 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Ralph Steury will officiate and burial will be in Mount Zion cemetery in the Rock community.

Ruth Brockschmidt
Mrs. Ruth Brockschmidt, 94, of rural Omaha, died at 3:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999 at the McLeansboro Health Care Center. She was born May 15, 1905, in East St. Louis to the late Adolph Thomas and Tarri Henson.
She married
John Herman Brockschmidt on Jan. 1, 1927. He preceded her in death Nov. 13, 1989.
She was a member of the Omaha Baptist Church and the Ladies Aid Society. She received an award of poetry from the World of Poetry Society.
Services are at 2 p.m. Friday at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Omaha, where friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in the Palestine No. 2 cemetery.
Family members will be announced later.
Stella S. Reed
Mrs. Stella S. Reed, 74, wife of James R. Reed, of 405 Willow Lake Road, Eldorado, died at 7:47 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999, at her home.
She was born on Nov. 15, 1924, in Hickory Valley, Tenn. to the late Oscar and Carrie (Belle) Smith, but was raised by Mr. and Mrs. J.O. Hammons of Boliver, Tenn.
She attended Boliver Central High School and Jackson, Tenn. WTBC College. She worked at the Harrisburg Cap Factory in Harrisburg for 17 years.
Mrs. Reed was a past president and treasure of Eldorado American Legion for many years, and a current member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Star General Baptist Church.
On June 28, 1958, she and Mr. Reed were married
. In addition to Mr. Reed, she is survived by two sons, Lewis Reed of Eldorado and Buddy Reed of Gurnee; a brother, Melvin Kenneth Smith of Germantown, Tenn.; seven grandchildren, Tobi Lyn (Reed) Gross of Ridgway, Crystal B. James of Evansville, Kerri Rae Reed, and Brenton Reed, both of Eldorado, Terra Rae Reed, Derek Reed, and Amber Reed, all of Gurnee; three great-grandchildren, Jaden Gross, Jacob Gross, and Jared Gross, of Ridgway, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, a twin, Virginia Eulene, and Mary Lou Davidson of Memphis and Elizabeth Stroupe of Grand Junction, Tenn., and two brothers, Wesley Robert and Hugh Donald Smith, both of Memphis.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Barry Winders will officiate. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery at Eldorado.

Ruth Wilma (Duffy) McGuire
Mrs. Ruth Wilma (Duffy) McGuire died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, at 3:15 a.m. in Parkway Manor Nursing Home in Marion, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was a lifelong resident of Gallatin County having lived in New Haven and Ridgway.
She was the eighth of nine children of John and Hannah (Doherty) Duffy. She was born on March 15, 1919 in the Pond Settlement Community, five miles east of Ridgway. She married
Leo Norton McGuire on Aug. 1, 1942, in Monterey, Calif. He preceded her in death on Sept. 21, 1991.
She attended Daily School and graduated from Ridgway High School in 1936. She completed her elementary teaching credentials at Southern Illinois Normal College in the late thirties. She taught in three of the famous one room schools in Gallatin County (Keene, Daily and Maple Grove) in the late thirties and early forties. She lived in California for three years while her husband was in the military service. Upon returning to Gallatin County, she helped her husband operate the McGuire Standard Service Station in New Haven for 33 years. She also taught elementary school in Old Shawneetown and then in Shawneetown from 1965-1984.
She was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Patrick's Altar Society, the Daughters of Isabella, the New Haven American Legion Auxiliary, the Gallatin County Homemaker's Extension, the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and the Illinois Education Association.
She is survived by two daughters, one son and their spouses, Marcia E. and David Allen of Murphysboro, Monica S. and Steve Daily of Valdez, Alaska, and D.J. and Sheila McGuire of New Haven. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kristina Allen and her husband, Brian Harrison of Champaign, Steven Thomas Daily of Valdez, Alaska, and Jennifer Rene and Alyssa Jo McGuire of New Haven.
She is also survived by five sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lucille Lawler and Betty and Thad Seely of Rural Ridgway, Evadeen Coleman, Geneva Scates and Regina and Cedric Drone of Shawneetown; three sisters-in-law, Mary McGuire of Harrisburg, Blanche Seiner of Florissant, Mo. and Olive Duffy of Barnhart, Mo. Also many nieces, nephews, and other family members survive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a sister, Marie Helen Duffy, and two brothers, Martin and Stephen Duffy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Ponds Settlement, the Ruth W. McGuire Scholarship Fund, in care of Banterra Bank, Ridgway, IL or the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are pending at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway.
Madge M. Stacey
Madge M. Stacey (nee Baldwin), age 86 of Belleville, formerly of East St. Louis, died Friday, January 29, 1999 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
She was born, Dec. 26, 1912, in Equality, Mrs. Stacey was a retired L.P.N. from St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Belleville, Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. Post 8677.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Hiram Britton Stacey; infant son, Charles Louis Stacey; one daughter, Eloise Stacey Reyburn; parents, Louis and Anna Coleman Baldwin; three sisters, Elizabeth McKinney, Louise Torti, Virginia Hollick; one brother, Louis I. Baldwin.
She is survived by her daughter, Anna G. (Don) Olsson of Fairview Heights; two sons, Bill (Diane) Stacey of Fairview Heights; Gary B. (Remy) Stacey of Belleville; nine grandchildren, Donald (Mary) Olsson of Fairview Heights; Sue Anne (Brett) Newton of O'Fallon; Michael (Andrea L.) Stacey of Fairview Heights; Donna (Steve) Lyman of Kansas City, Mo.; David (Lou) Reyburn of Kansas City, Mo., Capt. Richard G. Stacey of Hanscom Field, Mass.; Lisa Stacey of Boston, Mass.; Gary B. (Jenni) Stacey, Jr. of Belleville; Charles (Tara) Britton Stacey of Omaha, Neb.; 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Kassly Mortuary Chapel, Fairview Heights, with Rev. Drew Kramer officiating, followed by graveside services at 1 p.m. at Elmwood cemetery, Equality.
