Floyd 'Dadie' Vinyard
Floyd "Dadie" Vinyard, 67, of 205 W. Park Street in Harrisburg, died on Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 at 4:30 p.m. in Harrisburg Medical Center.
Mr. Vinyard was born in Gallatin County on August 23, 1931, to Ernest K. and Sarah Graham Vinyard. On March 24, 1956, he married
the former Judy Nolen, who survives.
Mr. Vinyard was retired from Sahara Coal where he worked for 34 years. An air force veteran of the Korean War, he was a protestant by faith, a member of the Lions Club, he was an avid sports fan and a member of the booster club, an auxiliary deputy of the Saline County Sheriff's Department and he had been a candidate for city commissioner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Keith Vinyard; daughter, Lisa Briggs; a sister, Jewel Walker, and two brothers, Harold Vinyard and Earl Vinyard.
He is survived by a son, Steve (Trena) Vinyard of Harrisburg; two daughters, Julie (Larry) Piche of Chatham and Amy Kurtek of Marion; a son-in-law, Ben Briggs of Harrisburg; a sister, Bonnie Guantt of Godfrey and 12 grandchildren: Brad, Brooke, Ben, Josh, Jacob, Jaci and Rachael Vinyard, Ben Graves, Casey Sowels, Garrick and Kelsey Piche, and Haley Kurtek.
Visitation was held Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Reed Funeral Chapel, where services were held at 1 p.m. Monday with Rev. Aurthur Austin Jr. officiating. Burial was in Sunset Lawn cemetery.

Mary Lucille Davis
Mrs. Mary Lucille Davis, 84, of Golconda, died at 4:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 at Massac Memorial Hospital in Metropolis.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Davis of Golconda; a son, Wayne Davis of Golconda; son-in-law, John C. Okerson of Golconda; two sisters, Mrs. Perry (Ressie) Billington and Mrs. Wayne (Irene) Wagner; two brothers, Alvis Belford, and Lloyd and wife, Vivian Belford, all of Golconda; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Otto and Sarah (Cummins) Belford, a daughter, Dorles Okerson, a son, Kenneth Dale Davis, a sister, Audry Brown, a brother, Donald Belford, and a great-grandson, Mathew Baxter.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, 1999 at Hosick Funral Home, Rottmann Chapel in Golconda, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. The Rev. Billy Green will officiate and burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Lodge cemetery at Golconda.
James 'Jimmie' Darwin Davis
James "Jimmie" Darwin Davis, 66, of Eau Claire, Mich., died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999, after an extensive illness.
He was born March 16, 1921, in Stonefort to the late Lawrence and Emma E. (Williams) Davis. He accepted Christ at the age of 13 and was baptized on Jan. 10, 1952 and was a member of the Bright Star Tabernacle. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1951.
He retired from Bendix, St. Joseph Division on Feb. 28, 1983 afterr 30 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Nol 437, St. Joseph for 36 years, receiving a Grand Commander's Service Award on Sept. 28, 1996.
His hobbies were raising goldfish in a spring fed pond and worked with scrap metals and recycling. He was written up once as a local feature story for his hobby in the Herald-Palladium.
On May 29, 1953, he married
Anna Frances Williams. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Jeff (Phyllis) Tidey of Dowagiac, Mich.; a son, James Darvin Davis of Eau Claire; two sisters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothea) Tunis of Berrien Springs, Mich. and Mrs. Wilma Benefield of Benton Harbor; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter, and three step-grandchildren.
His young daughter, Sharon Faye Davis died in 1996, his mother in 1983, his father in 1987. and a brother-in-lw, Robert in 1998.
Masonic rites were given Friday night at the Bright Star Tabernacle and the memorial service was given Saturday morning. Interment was in the Shanghai cemetery.

Emil L. Jones
Emil L. Jones, 82, of Evansville, Ind., formerly of Gallatin County, died at 4:35 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 1999 in St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville.
He was born in Equality, to the late Kincheon L. and Hettie May (Roye) Jones.
He retired in 1981 from Creasey Wholesalers. He was also a World War II Army Air Corp veteran in the North African Theatre. He was with the 27th Squadron First Fighter Group.
Mr. Jones was a member of Fairlawn United Methodist Church in Evansville, Veterans of Foreign War No. 1114 and American Legion in Evansville, and the Teamsters Union Local No. 215.
In 1951, he married
the former Velda Leavell. She survives along with two daughters, Wanda Lee Smith of Evansville, and Betty Jo Petty of Waterbury, Conn.; four grandchildren, Devon Petty, Jodi Kendrick, Adam and Ross Smith; a sister, Mary Goforth of Sparta; and two nieces, Lois Lee Jones and Mary Kay Jones, both of Ridgway.
She was preceded in death by a sister and three brothers.
Services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Boone Funeral Home, Washington Ave., Evansville, where friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Parklawn Mausoleum in Evansville. Vickery Funeral Chapel of Ridgway is in charge of the local announcements.
Guy King Patterson
Guy King Patterson, 76, former Harrisburg resident, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 1999, in Boca Raton, Fla. Further family details and funeral arrangements will be announced later from Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Bernice Stephenson
Mrs. Bernice Stephenson, 76, wife of Bill Stephenson, 1150 Jefferson St., Eldorado died Wednesday, Aug. 27, 1997, at 8:57 p.m. in Ferrell Hospital at Eldorado.
She was born on May 4, 1921, in Chicago, to the late William and Lillian (Hasse) Schroeder.
She was a retired factory worker and a member of Star General Baptist Church near Eldorado.
On Aug. 23, 1974, in Eldorado, she was married
to Mr. Stephenson, who survives. Also surviving are two sisters, Helen Rusteberg of Chicago and Edna Schutt of Arlington Heights; a brother, Leroy Schroeder of Park Ridge; several nieces; and nephews in the Chicago area; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Pauline Stephenson of Eldorado; two sisters-in-law, Edith Garris of Eldorado and Donna Grisham of Rantoul. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Earl Schroeder.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Barry Winders will officiate and burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery at Eldorado.
Bessie Pennell
Mrs. Bessie Pennell, 95, died Thursday, Sept. 28, 1997 in Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.

Verdie Reed
Mrs. Verdie Reed, 88, died Tuesday at her home at 1001 South Main St., Harrisburg. She married
Earl Reed on January 8, 1930. He preceded her in death on April 12, 1930.
Mrs. Reed was born on Jan. 19, 1909, in Stonefort to the late George and Cordelia Barger Kerr.
She was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Gertrude Cook of Carrier Mills; a nephew, Donald Cook of Harrisburg; two nieces, Janet Kibler of Harrisburg and Trena Chaney of Terre Haute, Ind.; several great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Earl Reed Jr., in infancy, and two brothers, Clyde Kerr and Wayne Kerr.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Reed Funeral Church in Harrisburg, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Harold Williams. will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Lawn cemetery.

Jim Lee Anderson
Jim Lee Anderson, of Madison, Miss., died Monday, Aug. 25, 1997 at his home following a brief illness.
He was self-employed.
He was born in Eldorado, on May 1, 1941, to the late Frank Henry and Edith Marie Auton Anderson.
Surviving are a son, Jade Lee Anderson of Meridian, Miss.; a brother, Fred Anderson of Stauton; and a sister, Barbara Childers, East Alton.
Marjorie Whyte
Services for Mrs. Marjorie Whyte, 86, of Eldorado, will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Howard Scott will officiate and burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Pat Whyte of Eldorado, and Gordon and Collen Whyte of Mount Carmel; a daughter, Carolyn Etienne of Flippin, Ark.; six grandchildren, Lisa Etienne Davis of Elizabethtown, Ludenia Etienne Austin of Cave-in-Rock, Michelle Whyte Richerson of Keyser, W. Va., Marsha Whyte Johnston of Eldorado, Matthew Whyte of Eldorado and Kent R.B. Whyte of Mount Carmel; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Whyte on June 19, 1993, a son, Myron Whyte, and her parents.
Bernice Latham Schubel
Services for Mrs. Bernice Latham Schubel, 85, of Eldorado, will be held Friday, Aug. 29, 1997, at 2 p.m. at Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. President James L. Brown will officiate with burial to follow at Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Raymond Ledbetter
Raymond Ledbetter, 90, of 1428 South Granger St., Harrisburg, died at 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
He was born on Aug. 3, 1909, in Hardin County to the late John M. and Pearlie (Hill) Ledbetter.
Mr. Ledbetter was a baker for Pankey's Bakery in Harrisburg for 37 years. He was a member of Harrisburg Masonic Lodge No. 325 A.F.&A.M.;
On Dec. 24, 1943, he married
the former Mildred Lorene Hall. She survives. Also surviving are a brother, William G. Ledbetter and three sisters, Ann Ledbetter and Alene Walter, all of Harrisburg, and Edith Healy of Enfield. Two brothers and a sister, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg, where friends may call after 10 a.m. until service time. The Rev. Tom Pelt will officiate and burial will be in Sunset Hill cemetery at Harrisburg.
