Dennis J. Peters
Dennis J. Peters, 57, of Chicago, died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1997, in Chicago.
He is survived by his wife, the former Doris Ledbetter of Harrisburg., a son, Michael; a daughter, Lori; a sister, Joan; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Tillie Peters and a brother, Joe Peters Jr.
Services will be held Friday at noon at the Gibbons Funeral Home in Chicago, where friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday.
Wilbert A. Miner
Wilbert A. Miner, 93, of Galatia, died at 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, 11, 2000, at Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado. He was born Aug. 2, 1906, in Raleigh, to the late Frank and Annie Miner.
Mr. Miner was a member of the Galatia United Methodist Church, where he had taught Sunday school and served as Sunday school superintendent.
He retired from the staff of the University of Illinois in 1971. He had also be employed by the State of Illinois, Superintendent of Highways.
He and Ollie Evans were married
Dec. 15, 1930.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years and their four children, Mrs. David (Annette) Porter of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Keith and his wife, Rose Miner of Marion, Ted Miner of Galatia, and Mrs. David (Sharron) James of Decatur; nine grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Miner, a sister, Ethel Wesley, and a great-granddaughter.
He is also survived by a daughter, Naomi Lewis of Florida, a son, Charles and wife, Sue Miner of West Frankfort, six grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at the Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13 at the Galatia United Methodist Church with visitation at the church starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be the Masonic cemetery at Raleigh.
Barbara Ann Horn
Mrs. Barbara Ann Horn, 62, of New Burnside, died at 4:50 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000, at her home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1937, in East St. Louis to the late Tommy and Vonetta (Mahoney) Barker.
She married
Vern Horn on Nov. 2, 1956, and he survives.
She was a member of the New Burnside Baptist Church and worked as a licensed practical nurse from the Headstart Program of Shawnee Development Council, and was a volunteer Emergency Medical Technician for the New Burnside Fire Department and First Responders.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Cyndi and Eric Jennings of Vienna, Karen Clark of Creal Springs, Cathy and Glen Bundren of Gary, Ind. and son, Vernon "Bub" Horn and daughter-in-law, Amber Horn of Ozark; grandchildren, Dawnette and Tim Hamby, Natasha and Clyde Hunt, Scott and Rosa Sparks, Derek Clark, Austin Clark, Jacob Horn, Emmy Horn, Sara Bundren, and Joe and Samantha Morris; great-grandchildren, Devon and Deanna Morris, Dalton Hamby, Ashtyn and Aaron Hunt and Devon Michael Albright.
Also surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lona and Charles Griswold of Cave-in-Rock and Juanita Faye and Paul Van Horn of Batesville, Ark.; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Linda Barker of Mt. Vernon; several nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends survive as well as special friends, Lowell and Betty Conley of New Burnside.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, Vern Horn Jr.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in the New Burnside cemetery with the Rev. Darrell Ford and the Rev. Bill McClusky officiating.
Roma Maxine Rudolph
Mrs. Roma Maxine Rudolph, 86, of Springfield, formerly of Eldorado, died at 4:36 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2000.
She was born Feb. 27, 1914, in Eldorado, to the late Harvey and Bobbie Scott Little. She had lived in Springfield 60 years and retired from the State of Illinois Secretary of State's office, where she was employed as a drivers license examiner.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Graham Rudolph of Springfield. They were married
Nov. 7, 1930. Other survivors include two daughters, Darla Wilson and Roma Brown of Springfield; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Yutha Phelps and Mrs. Bill (Alice) Hargraves, both of Eldorado; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in by two brothers, James Little and Harrell Little.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Democrat Club.
Private funeral services will be held Staab Funeral Home in Springfield. Dr. Roger Rominger will officiate.
Graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 13 at the Palestine No. 1 cemetery at Omaha. The Rev. Curt C. Yarbrough will officiate.
Watson Funeral Home of Eldorado is in charge of the local arrangements.
Alfa Lee Jackson
Alfa Lee Jackson, 97, of 202 Lewis St., Harrisburg, died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center. Further family details and funeral arrangements will be announced later from Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Annabelle Humphreys
Mrs. Annabelle Humphreys, 79, of Elkville, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, April 9, 2000, at the Shawnee Christian Nursing Center in Herrin.
She was born Aug. 10, 1920, in Adair County, Mo. to Manford Clay and Sarah Ann (Littrel) Downen.
She married
Edward Humphreys June 15, 1947, in Kirksville, Mo. He survives along with three daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Larry Glasco of Metropolis, Linda and Howard Scott of Eldorado, Susan and Doug Cage of Eminence, Mo.; a son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Sondra Humphreys of Benton; seven grandchildren, Becky Otte, Liz, Abby and Josh Cage, Angie May, Megan and Afton Glasco; two step-grandchildren, Tim and Matt Scott; a brother and sister-in-law, Clayford and Ruth Downen of Lady Lake, Fla.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Bob and Bette Humphreys of Elkville; a sister-in-law, Mary Humphreys of Louisville, Ky.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Matthew.
Glasco, a brother, two half-brothers, and a half-sister.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Royalton where she taught Bible School for many years. She retired from the Housekeeping Department at Carbondale Clinic after approximately 14 years of employment.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2000, at the Vantrease Funeral Home of Royalton, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday Brother Jack Smith and Brother Ron Henwood will officiate. Burial will be at Miners cemetery, east of Royalton.
Memorial donations in memory of Mrs. Humphreys may be made to the Southern Illinois Christian Service Camp in West Frankfort. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Ralph E. Hill
Ralph E. Hill, 81, of 12665 Saraville Rd., Marion in the Crab Orchard area, died at 7 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2000 at his home. Further family details and funeral arrangements will be announced later from Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills.
Margaret Frances Davis
Mrs. Margaret Frances Davis, 77, of Golconda, died at 5:02 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2000, at her home.
She retired as a house mother for Stewart's Home School of Frankfort, Ky. She was a member of Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.
Surviving are two daughters, Marcella Jones of Golconda and Mrs. Larry (Joyce) Gustin of Elizabethtown; three sisters, Mary (Coleman) Duncan, Alice Ledbetter and Agnes Bender, all of Golconda; a brothers, Thomas C. and his wife, Betty Davis of Grantsburg; his mother, Frances M. Davis of Golconda; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by his father, Raymond M. (Johnny Green) Davis; two brothers, Raymond J. Davis and Burton Davis; and a sister, Loretta Davis.
There were no services or visitation, direct cremation.
Donations may be made to Southern Illinois Hospice or American Cancer Society.

Leon W. Beasley
Leon W. Beasley, 77, of Harrisburg, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 8, 2000, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 28, 1922 in Fayette County, Ala., to the late P.O. and Dollie (Parr) Beasley.
He attended Ledford Baptist Church and was a member of the Harrisburg Golden Circle.
Mr. Beasley was a retired dragline operator and a World War II Army veteran.
In 1946, he married
the former Leona Burchell. She preceded him in death in 1983.
Surviving are two daughters, Linda Beasley and Jackie Crews, both of Hilliard, Fla.; a son, Ronald Beasley of Harrisburg; two brothers, Ed Beasley of Clarkton, Mo. and Jerry Beasley of Creal Springs; four sisters, Gladys Baker of Clarkton, Jewell Kilgo, and Jean Tabor, both of Malden, Mo., and Margie Fowler of Weatherford, Texas; five grandchildren, Shari Braddock, Travis Smith, Daryl Smith, Bradley Beasley and Victoria Beasley; and two great-grandchildren, Kara and Kelli Braddock.
Services were at 11 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2000 at Ledford Baptist Church. The Rev. Gary Graves officiated. Burial was in Ledford cemetery with military rites by the American Legion No. 364, Carrier Mills.
Visitation was from 9 until service time Monday at the church.
Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home in Carrier Mills was in charge of the service.
