Umeeka J. Mitchell
Mrs. Umeeka J. Mitchell, 68, wife of Kenneth K. Mitchell, of Huntsville, Ala., died Thursday, June 17, 1999 in a Huntsville hospital.
She was born in Gary Ind., and moved to Harrisburg as an infant. She married
in Harrisburg in July, 1951 and shortly after moved to Paducah, Ky., and in September, 1964, they moved to Huntsville.
She was a member of Trinity Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, a son, James Steven Mitchell of Huntsville; her mother, Mary Johnson of Bowlng Green, Ky.; a brother, Alfred Dale Johnson of Bowling Green; and two grandchildren, Kerianne Nicole and Shannon Eileen Mitchell. She was the niece of Mrs. Theresa Phelps of Harrisburg.
She was preceded in death by her father, Alfred Johnson.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Laughlin Chapel in Huntsville, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in the Huntsville cemetery.
Ed Robinson
Ed Robinson, 78, of Rosiclare died 11:24 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, in Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, Ky. He attended the First Baptist Church in Cave-in-Rock.
Surviving are his wife, Wanda Robinson; a son, Ronnie Robinson of Cave-in-Rock; a brother, Carl Robinson of Highland, Ind.; a sister, Ora Goolsby of Eldorado; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley and Volley Robinson, two brothers, Ruie and Cecil Robinson, and four sisters, Ida Fricker, Alta Rose, Maudie Brown, and Sylvia Quertermous.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare, where friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. The Revs. Earl Cowsert and Harold Miller will officiate. Burial will be in the Rose cemetery with full military rites by the Paul C. Rowen Post No. 571, Rosiclare.
Bernice Myers
Mrs. Bernice Myers, 70, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Peoria, died at 2:35 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 1999 in Hardin County General Hospital in Rosiclare.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon E. Myers Sr., her parents, Lennie and Carrie (Ledbetter) Creyton, and a sister, Judith Crawford.
Surviving are three sons, Jarrell Myers of Elizabethtown, Leonard E. Myers Jr. of Peoria, and Lennie Myers of New Hampshire; a daughter, Mary Gregory of Peoria, three sisters, Virginia Lambert and Mildred Elam, both of Harrisburg and Gynelle Baccus of Carterville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 24, 1999 at Hosick Funeral Chapel in Rosiclare. There will be no visitation.
Betty Foster
Mrs. Betty Foster, 67, of 311 S. Ledford St., Harrisburg, and formerly of Hardin County died at 5:20 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She attended Honeycomb Church in Karbers Ridge.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Foster, Larry Foster and Ronnie Foster, all of Harrisburg; five daughters, Louise Belt, Doris Owens, Ladonna Casteel and Rhonda Horton all of Harrisburg and Marsha Edwards of Moline; two brothers, Russell Weatherington of Harrisburg and Rev. Gene Weatherington of Louisville, Ky.; and three sisters, Laverne Hale and Bonnie Mallady both of Harrisburg and Marlene Davis of Carrier Mills.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Flora Weatherington.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Cox Funeral Home in Rosiclare, where friends and relatives may call from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be at the Colbert cemetery in Herod, with the Rev. Harold Miller officiating.
Creta Helen Pritchard
Mrs. Creta Helen Pritchard, 87, of Rosiclare died 9:31 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999 in Hardin County Hospital at Rosiclare. She was a member of Rosiclare Christian Church and a member of Hardin County General Hospital Auxiliary.
She is survived by a son, Marshall Pritchard, of Rosiclare.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Tiny) Pritchard, a son, James Pritchard and her parents, Walter and Nelle (Goodwin) Dimick.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Hosick Funeral Chapel in Rosiclare, where friends and family may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Fluorine cemetery, with the Rev. Leonard Largent officiating.
William "Bill" Zimmer
William "Bill" Zimmer, age 99, of Alton, died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, 1997 in Alton.
He was born on April 5, 1898 and was a former resident of 1308 South Webster St., Harrisburg.
Further family details and funeral arrangements will be announced later by Gaskins Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
William Paul Ledbetter
William Paul Ledbetter, 52, of Huntington Beach, Calif., passed away Saturday evening, as a result of a plane crash.
He was born in Hardin County on Dec. 25, 1944, to the late Howard and Viola Brown Ledbetter.
He was employed by General Tel in California and a 1963 graduate of Cave-in-Rock High School.
Surviving are his wife, Jan Ledbetter; and children, Rebekah, Mark, Rachel and John; a sister and brother-in-law, Gertie and Jack Quertermous of Herod; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Patty Ledbetter of Harrisburg and Bob and Norma Ledbetter of Louisville, Ky. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Laverne Patterson; and a brother in infancy.
Funeral and burial will be in California at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Charles Ray Seals
Charles Ray Seals, 57, of Dallas, Texas, died at his home Saturday, June 28, 1997.
He was born in Lee County, Va., on Jan. 23, 1940, to the late Mitchell Seals and Thelma Bryant Seals, who survives.
Mr. Seals was a heavy equipment operator.
He was a member of the Duncanville Baptist Church in Duncanville, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Seals and they were married
on March 31, 1972. Also surviving are a son, Charles Ray Seals Jr., of Dallas; two daughters, Janie Marie Seals of Harrisburg and Rosemary Seals of Eldorado; his mother, Thelma Seals of Ben Hur, Va.; three brothers, James Seals of Albuquerque, N.M., Paul Seals of Bernalillo, N.M. and Jimmy Seals of Boulder City, Nev.; two sisters, Shirley Bement of Elko, Nev. and Sue Price of Cumberland, Va.; and three grandchildren.
Graveside services preceded burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at Lindale cemetery at Eldorado. The Rev. George Malis officiated.
Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado.
Alice Laverne Edward Allen
Alice Laverne Edward Allen, 80, of Robstown, Texas, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2000. She was a native of Harrisburg and had lived in California before retiring to Robstown.
She was born March 28, 1920, in Harrisburg, to the late Thomas and Bertha Ellen Armistead Edward.
She was a dietician at Northgate Convalescent Hospital in Rapael, Calif. before retiring.
She is survived by two sons, James H. Allen of Cathedral City, Calif., and John Allen of Sacramento, Calif.; a daughter, Linda Baker of Robstown, Texas; five sisters, Thelma Hancock of Greensburg, Ind., Susan Staley of Carrier Mills, Frankie Bob Morgan of Rockdale, Tenn., Barbara Baker of Fairhope, Ala., and Betty Mead of Arcadia, Fla.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Frankie R. Allen.
There will be no services. Sawyer-George Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, Texas, was in charge of arrangements.
Margaret (Farris) Barnett
Margaret (Farris) Barnett, 77, of New Haven, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
She was born March 15, 1922, in Ridgway, to the late Wilburn and Agnes (Morrison) Farris. She married
the late John Barnett. Service was 2 p.m. today, Thursday, Nov. 9, at Cox and Son Funeral Home of New Haven. Visitation was 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Cox and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Julia Hazzard is officiating. Burial is at Union Ridge cemetery in New Haven.
Mrs. Barnett was a member of the New Haven Presbyterian Church where she also was the church organist.
She is survived by two brothers, Bernie Farris and wife, Barbara of Ridgway, Richard Farris and wife, Ginny of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister Melissa and husband, Non Drone of Ridgway; a sister-in-law, Roe and husband, Bud Farris of Indianapolis, Ind.; and mnay nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
