Pauline Braddy
Pauline Braddy, 82, of Galatia, died 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at her residence in Galatia.
She was born April 9, 1918, in Saline County, to the late W.W. and Cora Emmaline (Wesley) Stevens. On Nov. 22, 1935, she married
William Ray Braddy and he preceded her in death April 12, 1992.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia. Service is 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Sloan Funeral Home. The Rev. Kenny Stevens will officiate. Burial is at Raleigh Masonic cemetery.
Mrs. Braddy was an Inspector for Western in East Alton.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Barbara Braddy of Calumet City; three grandchildren Jo Lynn and husband, Charley Baggerly of Rensselear, Ind., Lonnie Dean Braddy of Melrose Park, Susan and husband, Darrin Kooiker of Calumet City; four great-grandchildren Michael and Amanda Rousseau of Rensselear, Ind., Jessica and Kyle Kooiker of Calumet City; two brothers Kelly Stevens and wife, Lilly of Galatia, Bill Stevens of Waynesboro, Tenn.; and a sister Grace Vannoy of Woodriver.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Lonnie Braddy, seven brothers, and two sisters.
Marshall E. Patton
Marshall E. Patton, 68, of 116 Dunbar Dr., Shawneetown, died 10:10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000, at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
He was born Thursday, Sept. 15, 1932, in Eddyville, Ky. to the late John and Geraldine (McilHaney) Patton. He married
Ruth Kitchens Sept. 1956. She survives.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at Cox and Son Funeral Home of Shawneetown. Service is 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Cox and Son Funeral Home. The Rev. Dorothy Millspaugh will officiate. Burial is at Elmwood cemetery of Equality.
Mr. Patton was a steel worker, retired from Ltc. Steel, and a member of Moose Lodge in East Chicago, Ind.
In addition to his wife, Ruth Patton of Shawneetown, he is survived by two sons, Dennis Patton of Shawneetown, David Patton of Shawneetown; three brothers, Carlos Patton of Bebe, Ark., Walter Patton of Elizabethtown, Floyd Angelly of Elizabethtown; a sister Ruby Hall of Leamington; and 11 grandchildren, William Patton, Chad Patton, Matthew Patton, Jason Patton, Tyler Patton, Austin Patton, Deanna Payne, Natasha Payne, Corey Lamprich, Brooke O'Dell, Shawn O'Dell.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Patton and Joel Patton.
Opal Swan
Opal Swan, 89, of 1027 S. Land, Harrisburg, died 9:32 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2000 at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 11, 1910, in Johnson County to the late Isaac and Daisy (Gore) Davies. On Feb. 21, 1946, she married
Hones Swan. He preceded her in death March 29, 1993.
Graveside service is 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 13, at Vienna Fraternal cemetery. There will be no visitation and those attending should go directly to the cemetery. The Rev. Mike Davis will officiate.
Mrs. Swan was a member of the First Baptist Church of Harrisburg.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Violet and husband, Archie Ledbetter of Harrisburg and a nephew, Steve Ledbetter and wife, Nancy of Harrisburg.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Joe Davies.

Mary Jane Hall
Mary Jane Hall, 98, a resident of Ridgway Manor Nursing Home in Ridgway, and formerly of Shawneetown, died 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
She was born June 27, 1902, in Concord, to Jacob Henry and Armenda (Oliver) Cozart. She married
Ezra Hall on Jan. 25, 1923. He preceded her in death May 20, 1973.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Vickery Funeral Chapel in Shawneetown, with the Rev. Ron Johnson officiating. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at the funeral home. Burial is in Mt. Olive cemetery in Norris City.
Marshall Murphy
Marshall Murphy, 84, of 105 East Marshall Ave., Shawneetown, died 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 15, 1916, in Ridgway to Andrew and Ethel (Ramsey) Murphy. He married
Helen Rollman March 2, 1946. She survives.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Vickery Funeral Chapel of Shawneetown. Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Jack Hall will officiate. Burial is in Jackson cemetery of Ridgway. Ridgway American Legion Post No. 596 will perform military services.
He was a farmer and a WWII veteran of the Navy.

Vernon, Ind., Crystal Denny of Harrisburg, Jeff Ehrenhart of Casper, Wyo.; two great-grandchildren Justin Murphy and Paige Ehrenhart. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dale Murphy.
Iva Mounce
Iva Mounce, 90, of 24 West Raymond St., Harrisburg, died 12:45 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 7, 1910, in Carrier Mills to William "Bill" and Francis (Chase) Kennet. She married
Cecil E. Mounce April 18, 1930. He preceded her in death Dec. 25, 1981.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Bill Fox will officiate. Burial is in Vienna Fraternal cemetery in Vienna.
She was a homemaker and a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church of Harrisburg. She was a member of Eastern Star, White Shrine, Rebekah's, and the Dorcas Sunday School Class of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters Dora Imogene "Jean" Strome of Eldorado, Mary Lucille (Bill) Dameron of Vienna; a nephew Mike (Pat) Dameron of Humbolt, Tenn.; a great-niece Jamilea Nichole Fritts of Paducah, Ky.; great-nephew Trey Michael Dameron of Paducah, Ky.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to McKinley Avenue Baptist Church and may be left at the funeral chapel.
Virginia Rose Jordan
Virginia Rose Jordan, 59, of 804 Crebs Ave., Carmi, died 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
She was born Feb. 4, 1941, in Hardin County to Clyde and Lola (Edwards) Ledbetter. She married
Charles Eugene Jordan Dec. 17, 1971. He preceded her in death May 24, 2000.
Visitation is 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Reed Funeral Chapel of Harrisburg. Service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Robbie King will officiate. Burial is in Good Hope cemetery in Karber's Ridge.
She was a cook at Enfield Health Care and a member of the First Christian Church of Carmi.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather Lola and Matthew Collier of Harrisburg; two sons Joseph Lee Jordan of Carmi and Michael Jordan of Carmi; two daughters Deborah Lynn Jordan of Carmi, Sandra (Jeff) Hanks of Grayville; and a brother Earl Wayne Ledbetter of St. Joseph, Mo.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her father Clyde Ledbetter.
The family suggests memorials may be made to Good Hope cemetery.
Everett 'Pete' Suits
Everett "Pete" Suits, 67, of Cave-In-Rock, died 12:22 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Lourdes Hospital of Paducah, Ky.
Visitation was 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Hosick Funeral Home of Rosiclare. Service was 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. Randy Vaughn will officiate. Burial was in Levell Hill cemetery in Junction. Military graveside honors were performed by American Legion Post No. 571.
Mr. Suits was retired from John Deere Harvester Corp. of E. Moline. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by a son Norman (Marie) Suits of Vienna; four daughters Darcie McGhee of Cave-In-Rock, Candace (David) Suits of Cave-In-Rock, Vanessa (Richard) Vaughn of Cave-In-Rock, Carmella (Jeff) Durbin of E. Moline; a brother Dale (Linda) Littrell of Colona; a sister Shirley (Rodney) Davis of Chicago; 11 grandchildren and 1 grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife Iris Gail (Collier) Suits, his parents France Suits and Emmitt and Bessie (Goodson) Littrell, a brother Alva F. Suits, and a granddaughter Brandi Suits.
Nancy Blackwell
Nancy Blackwell, 91, a resident of Fountain View Nursing Home in Eldorado, formerly of Harrisburg, died 11 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital of Eldorado.
Visitation is after 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills. Service is noon Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the funeral home. Burial is in the Lakeview cemetery in Carrier Mills. The Rev. Ownly Williams will officiate.
She was born Dec. 28, 1909, in Ledford, to the late Pleasant Grant and Sarah (Patton) Eperson. She married
Walter Blackwell Sr. on Dec. 23, 1929. He preceded her in death Oct. 12, 2000.
She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church of Harrisburg.
She is survived by a son Walter Blackwell Jr. of Harrisburg; three grandchildren Steven Blackwell of California, Jeffrey Blackwell of Hawaii, Diana Blackwell of Harrisburg; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
