James Leonidas 'Jim Boy' Maddox
James Leonidas "Jim Boy" Maddox, 61, of 7711 Hwy 14, Billings, Mo., died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Cox Medical Center in South Springfield, Mo.
He was born July 19, 1939, in Harrisburg, to James Edgar and Christina Leonidas (Gray) Maddox.
Visitation is 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Gaskins Funeral Home of Harrisburg. Service is 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. John O'Dell will officiate. Burial is in Sunset Lawn cemetery in Harrisburg.
He was a Protestant by faith. He served in the US Army reserves, was a graduate of Gradwohl Laboratory School in St. Louis, Mo., and was an accomplished pilot having flown for Ozark Airlines. He was a restaurant owner/operator for the past twenty years in Haines City, Fla., and Nixa, Mo., until his retirement this past year.
He is survived by his mother Christina Maddox of Harrisburg; a son Jimmie Lee Maddox/Spillman of West Frankfort; a brother Curtis Lee and Luann Maddox and their children Sarah and Alexander, all of Harrisburg; a brother Dennis Dean and Maxine Maddox and their children Darren and Sheryl Reed of Harrisburg; a very special friend Marilyn Miller of Nixa, Mo.; and a nephew, Curtis Glynn Maddox of Eddyville.
He was preceded in death by a brother Gus Gray Maddox.
Lt. Col. Edward Leo Baker, USAF, Ret.
Lt. Col. Edward Leo Baker, USAF, Ret., 78, of 3160 Hwy 13 West, Harrisburg, died 4:16 a.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital of Eldorado.
He was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Los Angeles, Calif., to Fredrick Leo and Eunice Lillian (Lovering) Baker. He married
Laverne "Tilly" Barnett. She survives.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Elmwood cemetery of Equality. The Rev. Bill Jones will officiate. Burial is in Elmwood cemetery.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons Robert "Bob" (Alison) Baker of Huntington Beach, Calif., Stephen H. (Kathleen) Lewis of Stonefort; a daughter Patricia Boettger of Long Beach, Calif.; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Baker was a Protestant by faith. He was past president of the Telephone Pioneers and was an active member of the V.F.W., American Legion, and The Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks.
He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1942-1972 retiring Lt. Colonel rank. During WWII Mr. Baker was a decorated B-17 and B-24 pilot flying 52 combat missions in the European Theater. Mr. Baker began working for the Pacific Telephone Company in 1945 and returned to active military duty in the Air Force during the Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star for Meritorious service. After the war he continued his career with the telephone company as an internal auditor. He retired in 1980 after 35 years of service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations may be made to the Equality Social Brethren Church.
Riva Ann Reiner
Riva Ann Reiner, 60, of Elizabethtown, died 4:48 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at her residence.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Hosick Funeral Chapel of Rosiclare. Service is 1 p.m. Thursday Jan. 4, 2001, at the funeral chapel. The Rev. Don Nelson will officiate. Burial is in Vinyards Chapel cemetery in Karber's Ridge.
She is survived by her parents Eva Florence and Phillip Stephens of Springfield; her husband Weldon H. (Sam) Reiner of Elizabethtown; two sons Leonard L. Reiner of Harrisburg, Ricky Downs of Springfield; a daughter Jo Ann Reiner of Springfield; a brother Phillip Stephens Jr. of Springfield; three sisters Eva May Fickus of Springfield, Lois A. Cox of Springfield and Barbara Crotty of Arizona; and three grandchildren.
Ralph Henderson
Ralph Henderson, 84, of 1410 Grove St., Eldorado, died 8:15 a.m. Jan. 1, 2001, at St. Mary's Medical Center of Evansville, Ind. He was born Sept. 12, 1916, in Mitchellsville, to John and Mary Henderson. He married
Norma Carder. She survives.
Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Colonial Terrace Funeral Home. Service is 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. Bill McClusky will officiate. Burial is in Lindale Memorial Gardens in Eldorado.
He was a Protestant by faith and a member of the Eldorado American Legion. He worked as a painter in his earlier years and worked for the state in his later years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons James Henderson of Madison Heights, Mich., Richard Henderson of Eldorado; a daughter Rosemary Walker of Royal Oaks, Mich.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.
Earle M. Whitler
Earle M. Whitler, 94, of 705 Dewey St., Eldorado, died 1:17 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital of Eldorado.
He was born Feb. 16, 1906, in Fordsville, Ky., to Ross and Ora (Johnson) Whitler. He married
Fern Wallace Feb. 15, 1930. She preceded him in death April 22, 1997.
Visitation was 12:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Watson Funeral Home of Eldorado. Service was 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the funeral home. The Rev. Brad Brault officiated. Burial was in Bethesda cemetery in Pope County.
Mr. Whitler was a member of the First Baptist Church and a veteran of WWII. He was also a member of the Colorado American Legion Post No. 1 of Denver and a member of Harrisburg Elks Lodge.
He is survived by seven nephews L. Earl Whitler of Ozark, Kenneth Whitler of Eldorado, Keith Whitler of Eldorado, Jerry Whitler of Eldorado, Jeff Whitler of Eldorado, Bill Bramlet of Marion, Rex Karnes of Carbondale; six nieces C.J. Street of Springfield, Clara Wysong of Panarama City, Calif., Bonita Choisser of Harrisburg, Barbara Sue Cox of Eldorado, Wilma Collins of Harrisburg, Odena Caraway of Marion; a brother-in-law Charles Hausser of Eldorado; and a sister-in-law Delsie Whitler of Eldorado.
He was preceded in death by a brother James L. Whitler, three sisters Mildred Hock, Lilly Housser, Elsie McClelland, and a nephew James F. Whitler.
Kathryn Williams
Kathryn Williams, 96, a former resident of Eldorado, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in Freeport.
She was born Oct. 1, 1904, in Wheatcroft, Mo., to Levi and Nellie Goben. She married
Stanley Williams April 26, 1924. He preceded her in death in April 1970.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Watson Funeral Home of Eldorado. Service is 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. Russell Helton will officiate. Burial is in Wolf Creek cemetery.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist and a past member of Eastern Star.
She is survived by a son Carl (Bobbie) Williams of Lima, Ohio; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, and a daughter Mary Hilder. The family suggests memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church of Eldorado. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
Violet Deloris Barker
Violet Deloris Barker, 66, of 1101 Moore St. Apt. 2A, Eldorado, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2000, at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado.
She was born Sept. 27, 1934, in McLeansboro to the late Charles and Lilly (Gossage) Miller. She married
Charles Barker March 21, 1950. He preceded her in death in Oct. of 1984.
Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at Watson Funeral Home of Eldorado. Service is 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, at the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. Randy Grace will officiate. Burial is in Hickory Hill cemetery.
She is survived by four sons Paul Barker of Woodlawn, Joseph Barker of Florida, Ron Barker of Mt. Vernon, Charles Barker of Eldorado; three daughters Mary Moles of Eldorado, Elizabeth Pittman of Eldorado, Rebecca Barker of Eldorado; a brother Charles Edward Miller of Mt. Vernon; 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, a brother, and two children.
Harry A. 'J.R.' Bramlet
Harry A. "J.R." Bramlet, 75, of 775 Highway 13, Equality, died 2:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at his residence.
He was born July 8, 1925, in Eldorado, to the late Harry Allen and Emma (Pool) Bramlet. He married
Carolyn Cowsert July 22, 2000. She survives.
Visitation is 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001, at Reed Funeral Chapel of Harrisburg. Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at the funeral chapel. The Rev. G. E. Coultas will officiate. Burial is in Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado.
Mr. Bramlet was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He was a retired car salesman for Pool Pontiac in Harrisburg. He was co-owner of Bramlet Chrysler-Plymouth, Purina Feed Store and Bramlet John Deere, all of Eldorado.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Karen Bramlet of Marion, and three grandsons Kyle Duffee of Raleigh, Bram Duffee of Carbondale, and Todd Duffee of Marion.
Guy O. Davidson
Guy O. Davidson, 86, of 1304 Largent St., Harrisburg, died 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
By his own request, his body was cremated. There will be no services. Arrangements are in the charge of Reed Funeral Chapel of Harrisburg.
He is survived by two daughters and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Seba E. Pennell, 81, of Cave-In-Rock, died 5:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29, 2000, at Hardin County Hospital in Rosiclare.
Visitation was 5 p.m. Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Rose-Gilbert Funeral Home in Cave-In-Rock. Service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Mt. Zion General Baptist Church. Burial is in Mt. Zion cemetery.
Surviving are two daughters, a brother, a sister, six grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Behymer, 91, of Clay City, died 11:50 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, at Lakeland Healthcare in Effingham.
Visitation is noon Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at Hosselton Funeral Home of Cisne. Service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, 2001, at the funeral home. Burial is in Cisne cemetery in Cisne.
She is survived by three daughters, a sister, nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
