Geraldine 'Gerry' Walker McCammon
Geraldine "Gerry" Walker McCammon, 70, of Waterford, Mich., formerly of Muddy, died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2001.
She was born Nov. 24, 1930, in Ledford to Wendell and Audrie Dennis Walker, who preceded her in death. She married
James McCammon in 1950, who survives.
Geraldine was the mother of Jill (Bart) Larive of Waterford, Mich., Kris (Tom) Auten of Clarkston, Mich., Dani (Joel) Meyers of Lapeer, Mich., and Nikki (Rob) Hellner of Waterford, Mich; and the sister of Jackie (George) Ramsey, Harrisburg, and Dennis (Cathy) Walker of Ga. She was the grandmother of Errin, Angie, Chad, Kevin, Andy, Keith, and Kyle.
Funeral sevices were held in Waterford, Mich.
Inez (Susie) Barger
Inez (Susie) Barger, 77, of Harrisburg, passed away 9:26 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001. Arrangements are pending at J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg.
Claude Bowen
Claude Bowen, 69, of Hudson, Fla., formerly of Eldorado, passed away at 8:35 a.m. Thursday morning after a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 25, 1931 to Charles and Ceilia (Brwon) Bowen of Dahlgren. He married
Lois Dean Phelps of Eldorado in 1957.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 at the Bisch Funeral Home in Springfield with the Rev. George Besch officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 9, 2001 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
He is survived by two sons, Mark of Hillsboro and Wendall of Hannibal, Mo. He is also survived by four grandchildren. Burial will be in Oak Ridge cemetery, Springfield.
Inis 'Susie' Barger
Inis "Susie" Barger, 77, 3275 Highway 13 W., Harrisburg, died 9:26 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2001 in Carrier Mills.
She was born July 31, 1924 in Harrisburg, the daughter of Milo and Mae (Steapleton) Barger, who preceded her in death.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2001 at J.M. Weirauch Funeral Chapel, Harrisburg. The Rev. David Maker will officiate. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2001 at the funeral home. Burial is in Sunset Garden cemetery, Harrisburg.
She was a waitress for 50 years in many restaurants in Harrisburg. She was a member of Pride of Arrow Rebekah Lodge, Harrisburg, and the McKinley Ave. Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sisters, Hazel Bradley, Harrisburg and Mildred Wathen, Harrisburg; one nephew, David Lee Smith, Galatia; one great nephew, Michael Lee Smith, Galatia; one niece, Sharon (David) Maker, Marion.
William Porter Fricker
William Porter Fricker, 43, Owensboro, Ky., died 4 a.m. Friday, September 7 at Hermitage Manor Nursing Home, Owensboro. He was born March 5, 1958 in Paducah, Ky., the son of William H. and Ruth (Hobbs) Fricker, who survive.
Funeral service is 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, 2001 at Gaskins Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Smith will officiate. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2001 at the funeral home. Burial is in Lindale cemetery, Eldorado.
He was a chemical operator at W.R. Grace Chemical for 23 years. He was also a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church; Isotopes Radio Controlled Airplane Club, Owensboro, Ky.; and Yellow Banks Dulcimer Society, Owensboro, Ky. In addition to his parents, he is survived by a brother, Richard Steve Fricker, Murray, Ky.
Eric Peterson
Eric Peterson, 35, died 4 a.m. Friday, September 7, 2001 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1965, son of Cheryl Peterson, West Frankfort and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Peterson, Sterling, who survive.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two sisters, Kelly (Eric) Brannan, Calhoun County, LeAnn Smiley, West Frankfort; three nieces, Ashley, Amber and Autumn Brannan; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Virdon Garrett; paternal grandparent, John Peterson; two uncles, Mr. and Mrs. Stephan Garrett and Children, Alaska, Mr. and Mrs. Norman C. Garrett and children, Hanover Park; a godparent, Jackquline Borrow; and his door helper, Rebecca Rawley.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Rosellen Garrett; a great grandmother, Alma Ryan; paternal grandmother, Durcilla Peterson; two maternal uncles, Wayman Garner and Truman Garrett.
There will be no funeral services, but a memorial service will be held at a later date. Sloan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Marjorie J. Biggerstaff
Marjorie J. Biggerstaff, 74, Route 2, McLeansboro, died 9:50 p.m. Thursday, September 6, 2001 in High Ridge, Mo.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, September 9, 2001 at Gholson Funeral Home, McLeansboro. The Rev. Robert Sefried will officiate. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 8, 2001 at the funeral home. Burial is in Mt. Olivet cemetery, McLeansboro.
She is survived by four sons, two daughters, one brother, two sisters, fourteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
Raymond E. McConnell
Raymond E. McConnell, 77, 400 Read Rd., Harrisburg, died 1:55 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, 2001, at Harrisburg Medical Center.
Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Art Watson officiating and the Rev. G.E. Coultas assisting. Burial will be in Wolf Creek cemetery in Eldorado. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2001 at the funeral home.
He was born Mar. 4, 1924, in Saline County to Kingsley and Ethel (Renshaw) McConnell. He married
the former Lucy V. Read on July 12, 1947. She survives.
He was an active member of Union Grove Baptist Church and a Machinist First Class in the U.S. Navy, stationed aboard an LST in W.W. II. He was a member of the Saline County Farm Bureau, National Knife Association, and the United States LST Association. He was a farmer and a retired machinist for Sahara Coal.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Ora Rae (Burtis) Feazel, Harrisburg, Ann (Victor) Frost, Harrisburg; a sister, Betty (Bert) Mazikas, Raleigh; three brothers, Eugene (Virginia) McConnell, Maurice (Betty) McConnell, and Harold McConnell, all of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Lisa and Nathan Feazel and Jonathan and Emily Frost; and one great-grandchild, Natalie Feazel.
Nigel Moore
Nigel Moore, 93, of Shawneetown, passed on this life Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at the Saline Care Center in Harrisburg.
Services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at the Cox & Son Funeral Home in Shawneetown with the Rev. Cherri Wilkerson officiating. Burial will be in Westwood cemetery in Shawneetown. Visitation is 9 a.m. until service time at the funeral home Thursday.
She was born in Eagle Creek Township in southern Gallatin County on Oct. 20, 1908, to the late Charles and Laura (Robinett) Zinn. She was the widow of the late Nathaniel "Nat" Moore.
She had been a member of the Gallatin County Home Extension and a member of the Pisgah General Baptist Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary Jo and Bob Rister, Shawneetown; a son, John Charles and Patricia Moore, Harrisburg; her grandchildren, Judy and Don Evrard, Scott and Patti Rister, Bonnie and Roger Mahan, Tim Rister, Sarah and Sam Alderfer, Nathan Moore; and great-grandchildren Dana and Corey Evrard, Jason Rister, Robi Mahan, Reiana Mahan, Tonya Rister, Toshia Rister and Trina Rister.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Gallatin County Education Association Scholarship Fund.
Michael Dwayne Duffee
Michael Dwayne Duffee, 53, of Galatia, died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2001, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia with the Rev. Ernest Donoho officiating. Burial will be in Brushy cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2001, at the funeral home.
Graveside military rites will be conducted by the Eldorado VFW Post No. 3479, and American Legion Post No. 169.
He was born Sept. 11, 1948, in Harrisburg to G.B. and Betty Lou (Brown) Duffee, who survives in Galatia. He was a Vietnam War Army veteran, had worked for Peabody Coal Company at the Eagle No. 2 Mine and he previously worked for Ford Motor Company.
He is survived by a son, Patrick Duffee, Galatia; a brother, Carl Edward Duffee, Galatia; and two grandchildren, Blaine Michael Duffee, and Kali Michael Duffee.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Sibyl Bishop Lasseter Yarbrough
Sibyl Bishop Lasseter Yarbrough, 91, a resident of Carle Arbours in Champaign, died there 4:21 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001, at First Baptist Church in Raleigh with the Rev. Jim Endsley officiating. Burial will be in Raleigh Masonic cemetery.
She was born in Raleigh on May 3, 1910, to the late Logan and Lillie (Shelton) Bishop. She and her first husband, Marion E. Lasseter, were wed on Nov. 8, 1930, in Raleigh. He preceded her in death in 1957. She married
Ben Yarbrough in Harrisburg on June 24, 1971. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Sibyl was a member of McKinley Avenue Baptist Church in Harrisburg. She also taught Sunday School and was on several church committees for more than 40 years. She had also previously been a teacher's aide at Horace Mann School in Harrisburg as well as a house mother at DePauw University for Alpha Chi Omega.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Lasseter (husband John Wyrick) of Springfield, and Sandra (Jim) Lyon, Champaign; two brothers, Bert (Vera) Bishop, Elizabethtown, and Bernard (Bernita) Bishop, Raleigh; three granddaughters, Shari Wyrick, Springfield, Lori (Mike) Flannery, Hinsdale, and Lisa (Scott) Weisbrod, Waukesha, Wis.; and three great-grandsons, Rob, Jack, and Will Flannery.
In addition to her husbands and parents, Sibyl was preceded in death by two great-grandsons; one brother, Bill Bishop; and one sister, Bonnie Drake.
