84-year-old Fairfield resident, Verla O. Moore died at 7:25 p.m. Sunday, June 2, 2002 at the Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Her survivors include a daughter, Karen McCleary of Fairfield and two granddaughters, Lisa McCleary of Barnhill and Jessica McCleary of Fairfield.
Funeral services for Verla O. Moore were at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5 at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Betty Jean Pierson
29-year-old Olney resident, Betty Jean Pierson died at 6:18 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2002 in rural Edwards County.
Her survivors include her parents, Ralph and Viola Scott of Parkersburg; a son, Mark Lee Perry, Jr. of Ellery; a brother, Ralph Scott, Jr. of West Salem; a sister, Peggy Davis of Parkersburg and a maternal grandmother, Katherine Rogers of Streator, IL.
Funeral services for Betty Jean Pierson were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 5 at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.
William D. "Bill" Featherling
63-year-old Farmersburg, IN resident, William D. "Bill" Featherling died at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, October 13th, 2002 at his home.
His survivors include his wife; Joyce Featherling of Farmersburg; his mother, Sylvia Featherling of Fairfield; two daughters, Pam Eakin of Katy, TX, and Peggy Vaughn of Indianapolis, IN; four brothers, Tony Featherling of Hampshire, IL, Dean Featherling of Tucson, AZ, Roger Featherling of Fairfield and Bruce Featherling of Mt. Erie. Four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for William D. "Bill" Featherling were at 10 a.m. Friday at the Debaun Funeral Home in Terre Haute with graveside services at 12:30 p.m. at the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.
Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17th at the Debaun Funeral Home of Terre Haute.
Millard "Happy" Hopkins
81-year-old Keenes resident, Millard "Happy" Hopkins, died at 3:07 Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 15, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon.
His survivors include two sons, Jackie and Donald Hopkins; three daughters, Louise Wilson of Saline, KS, Phyllis Kelly of Conway, Arkansas, and Nancy Hopkins; one brother, Everett Hopkins of Enid, OK and two grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Millard "Happy" Hopkins were at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Richardson Fuenral Home in Wayne City.
Visitation was after 6 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Richardson Funeral Home in Wayne City.
Verl Meritt
76-year-old Fairfield resident, Verl Meritt died at 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2002 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
His survivors include his wife Donna.
Private Graveside Services for Verl Meritt were held Friday, Oct. 18th at the Simpson Cemetery in Burnt Prairie.
There was no visitation.
Willis Lester "Bill" Wood
57-year-old Bone Gap resident, Willis Lester "Bill" Wood died Monday, Oct. 14, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind.
Survivors includehis wife, Eleanor; his mother, Charlene Wood of Mt. Carmel; two sons, Rev. Ben Wood of Columbus, Ohio and Tim Wood of Princeton, Ind.; two step-sons, Karl Case of Bone Gap and Karson Case of W. Salem; four grandchidren, five step-grandchildren; a brother, Dr. Tom a. Wood of Fort Smith, Ark., four sisters, Diana Sheehan of W. Palm Beach, Fla., Janet Hicks of Mount Carmel, Mary Ligon of Olney, and Gloria Smith of Friendsville.
Funeral services for Bill Wood were at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the Heartland Worship Center in Mount Carmel with burial in Highland Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6 until 8 Tuesday evening, Oct. 15, at the Short Funeral Home in Mount Carmel.
George E. Barber
53 year old Albion resident, George E. Barber, died at 3:58 p.m. Oct. 11th, 2002 at his home.
Surviving are his mother, Catherine Barber of Mt. Carmel; 5 sisters, Goldie Shepherd of New Harmony, Indiana, Anita Neal of Athens, Tennessee, Carolyn Young of Mt. Carmel, Donna Green of Albion and Helen Deaton of Mill Shoals; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Graveside services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15th at Graceland Cemetery in Albion, with full military rites.
Nales Funeral Home in Albion was in charge of the arrangements.
Violet R. Jones
Violet R. Jones of Keenes died at 11 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11th, 2002 at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro.
Surviving are 2 sons, Bill Jones of Mt. Vernon, Il. and Bob Jones of Keenes; 4 daughters, Wanda Barrall of Norris City, Thelma Burkett of Oden, Il, Kay Newman of Wayne City and Doris Bairfield of Houston, Texas; 30 grandchildren, 55 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15th at the Archie L. Sanders Memorial Chapel in Wayne City. Burial in Thomason Cemetery at Wayne City.

70 year old Flora resident, Bernadine Pauline Ferguson, died at 3:20 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12th, 2002 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Surviving are her husband Wesley D. Ferguson; a son, Donald of Flora; 2 daughters, Debra Lynn Pershey and Dixie Jean Ferguson both of Flora; a sister, Betty Boyd of Flora; and 4 grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 14th at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial in Elmwood Cemetery at Flora.

Surviving are her husband Raymond; a daughter, Christina Kirksic of Jefferson City, Missouri; her father and step-mother, Charles and Norma Toothman of Broughton; 4 step-sisters, Mrs. Twyla Sivok and Mrs. Goldie Farthing both of Broughton, Mrs. Kathy Karnes of McLeansboro and Mrs. Becky Green of Thompsonville; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Betty Crider of McLeansboro; and a brother, Edward Lee Toothman of Harrisburg.
