Carol I. Schneider, 76, of Columbia, died Dec. 11, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Creve Coeur. She was born June 1, 1938, in Carbondale, the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (nee Popovich) Dohanich. She married Lester W. Schneider in 1963 in Columbia. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Schneider is survived by her son, Eric (Kelly) Schneider of Kirkwood, Mo.; daughter, Lori Evans of Columbia; grandchildren, Amanda Evans, Gabriel Evans, Sage Schneider, Kellan Schneider, Lindsey (Fabian) Duboeuf, Abby Eisenhart and Jack Eisenhart; and great-grandchildren, Anais Duboeuf, Caroline Duboeuf, Etienne Duboeuf and Mirabelle Duboeuf. Mrs. Schneider was a retired teacher from the Columbia and Cahokia School Districts. She was a member of Columbia Sister Cities, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (where she was a former director of the St. Paul’s pre-school), Red Hat Society and the Columbia Gymnastic Association Auxiliary (past president), as well as several bridge clubs .Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral was at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia with Pastor Steven Theiss officiating. Mrs. Schneider was buried at the church’s cemetery. James G. Hensiek III, 34, of Waterloo, died Dec. 14, 2014 in Red Bud. Mr. Hensiek was born Feb. 15, 1980, the son of Rebecca Cramer and the late James Hensiek Jr. Besides his mother, Mr. Hensiek is survived by his wife Amber (nee Huelsman) Hensiek; children, Jadyn and Cannon Hensiek; step-father, Gerard Cramer; sisters, Laurie Hensiek and Ruth (Jay) Flieg; niece, Jessica Flieg; nephew, Tyler Flieg; grandmother, Julie Conway; in-laws Carol and Robert Huelsman; sister-in-law, Brittany (Justin) Imm; and brothers-in-law, Jon Huelsman and Nate Huelsman; along with aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; uncle, Kevin Stonington; grandparents Ruth (nee Reed) Stonington, Harry Stonington and grandfather James Glennon Hensiek Sr. Mr. Hensiek was employed at Suntrup Automotive Group and Royal Gate Automotive Group. Visitation and funeral were at Quernheim Funeral Home with Father Osang Idagbo C.M officiating. Mr. Hensiek was buried at the SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery. Kevin Wayne Robinson, 47, of Columbia, died Dec. 10, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born Oct. 29, 1967, at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Kelli (nee Blissenbach) Robinson; a daughter, Rachel Robinson; his parents, Don and Jeanie (nee Moallankamp) Robinson of Valmeyer; a brother, Danny (Deborah) Robinson of South St. Louis County; a grandmother, Shirley A. Moallankamp of Columbia; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David and Luanna Blissenbach of Columbia; and a brother-in-law, Jonathan (Elizabeth) Blissenbach of Millstadt; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents. Mr. Robinson was a communications dispatcher for the Columbia since 2004. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 145. Kevin attended Twin Rivers Worship Center in St. Louis, Mo. He loved fishing and music. Kevin operated the sound system at his church. Visitation was at Braun Family Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral was at Twin Rivers Worship Center in St. Louis with Pastor Joe Dobbins officiating. Mr. Robinson was buried at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.
Lowell R. “Bobby” Liefer, 81, of Ruma, died Dec. 12, 2014. He was born June 24, 1933, the son of the late Herman and Lilly (nee Huber) Liefer. Mr. Liefer married Mildred “Milli” Luttman in 1955. Besides his wife, Mr. Liefer is survived by his sons, twins Wayne (Pamela) Liefer and Duane Liefer, John (Soraya) Liefer and Daniel (Tara) Liefer; grandchildren, Jonathan (Jesse) Liefer, Jennifer (Joseph) Koester, Alison (Darek) Schubert, Derek (Paige) Liefer, Abigail Liefer, Brandy (Cody) Muertz, Katie (Kenneth) Smith and Alex Buck; great-grandchildren, Lydia Smith, Jackson and Mabrie Schubert, Aiden Koester, Wyatt Liefer, Miles Liefer and two more expected in February and March. Lowell was the brother of Margaret Hanebutt, Dorothy (Earl) Ruez and Paul L. (Helen) Liefer. He was preceded in death by his brothers in infancy and a brother-in-law, Roland Hanebutt. Mr. Liefer was a retired farmer and also worked part time at feed and grain stores in the area. Lowell was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Evansville American Legion and the Red Bud Men’s Club. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church. Visitation and funeral were at Koch-Liefer Funeral Home Red Bud with Rev. Russell Koen officiating. Mr. Liefer was cremated. He will be buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors.
William J. Sutter, 70, of Fults, died Dec. 2, 2014 in St. Louis. He was born Oct. 14, 1944, in Morris, Minn., the son of the late Otto and Rosemary (nee Conroy) Sutter. Mr. Sutter is survived by his wife, Linda (nee Kuergeleis) Sutter; a daughter, Jennifer (Matt) Albatl and a sister, Mary (Ben) Perry; along with a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Sutter worked more than 50 years with Operating Engineers Local 520. He had served with the Fults Village Board. Bill was a member of the Renault American Legion and the Waterloo VFW. He attended St. John UCC of Maeystown. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral was at St. John UCC in Maeystown with Pastor Patrick Poole officiating. Ellen Rita Soma, 85, of Columbia, died Dec. 3, 2014, at Bethesda Southgate Nursing Center in St. Louis. She was born Jan. 9, 1929, in Ridgeway, the daughter of the late Edward and Sallie (nee Mecum) Maloney. Ellen married John Soma in 1954 in St. Louis. He died in 1999. Mrs. Soma is survived by her son, Lawrence (Carol) Soma of Columbia; daughters, Patricia (Timothy) Fahey of Red Bud, Kathleen (Ronald) Shields of Red Bud and Karen Mathis of Ellis Grove; grandchildren, Erin (Dave) Legendre, Sara (Jared) Kertz, Jessica (Tim) Liefer, Philip (Angela) Shields, Breann Fahey, Kristen (Dennis) Murray, Scott (Mandy Brandt) Soma, Matthew Shields, Hillary (Randy Renfroe) Mathis and Nicholas Mathis; great-grandchildren, John Murray, Devyn Liefer, Corbyn Legendre, Ashlyn Kertz, Mikayla Shields, Dax Liefer and Declan Legendre; siblings, Virginia Heller of Newburgh, Ind., Timothy Maloney of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Martha Lawler of Lebanon, Carolyn Bailey of Springfield and Lawrence W. Maloney of Buffalo; and a nephew, Robert Cusimano of St. Louis. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by brothers, William Maloney and Paul Maloney; a sister, Patricia Maloney; and a son-in-law, Scott Mathis. Mrs. Soma attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, where she was active with the quilters. She had worked at the Immaculate Conception School cafeteria for many years. Mary Jean Hartrum, nee Prather, 63, of Waterloo, died Dec. 4, 2014, in St. Louis. She was born Sept. 5, 1951 in Indianapolis, Ind., the daughter of the late Harry Sr. and Dorothy (nee Balling) Prather. Mrs. Hartrum is survived by her children, Deanna Wolff, Sarah Decareaux, Elizabeth Hartrum, Richard (Roxanne) Hartrum and David Hartrum; grandchildren Jacob Harrold, Megan Wolff, Hailey Harrold, Kate Decareaux, Nicholas Wolff, Riddick Whelan, Finn Decareaux, Michael Hartrum, Elise Decareaux, Magdalene Hartrum and Eleanor Hartrum; brothers Harry Prather, Jr. and John (Nancy) Prather; and a sister, Lee (Charles) Jerls; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Keith G Hartrum; grandsons, Dominic and Grant Decareaux; a son-in-law, David P. Decareaux Jr.; and brothers, Edward Giglotto and Charles Anthony Giglotto. Mrs. Hartrum attended First Baptist Church in Waterloo, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She was a teacher for the Cahokia and Centreville School Districts. Mary Evelyn Perry, 71, died Dec. 5, 2014. She was born Jan. 31, 1943, the daughter of the late Elvin and Alma Herrmann of Appleton City, Mo. Mrs. Perry is survived by her husband, George E. Perry; her children, Leigh Ann (Patrick) Geen of Glen Rock, NJ, Karen (Michael) Weiler of Columbia; grandchildren, Justin (Anna) Weiler of Wiesbaden, Germany, Adam (Tina) Weiler, Jacob Weiler, Hannah Weiler and Caleb Weiler all of Columbia and Brendan Geen and Mary Geen of Glen Rock, N.J.; great-grandchildren, Jackson Weiler of Wiesbaden, Germany, and Peyton Weiler and Michael Weiler of Columbia; a sister, Grace (Leonard) Bartz of Appleton City; and siblings, John and Joan Perry of Brookfield, Mo.; Robert and Kathleen Perry of Bethel, Mo., and John and Carol Hammond of Shelbina, Mo.; along with cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Perry graduated from Appleton City (Mo.) High School and the University of Missouri - Columbia with a degree in elementary education. Mary was an elementary school teacher in New Bloomfield, Mo., Hallsville, Mo., Hurricane Deck, Mo., and East Elementary School in the Jefferson City, Mo. After retirement the Perrys operated GM Feedlot Inc. in Appleton City. Mrs. Perry was a member of the Harmony Mission Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Appleton City Landmarks. LeRoy L. Loehr Sr., 81, of Waterloo, died Dec. 15, 2014 in St. Louis. He was born Jan. 22, 1933 in St. Louis, the son of the late Emil and Melba (nee Haelcher) Loehr. Mr. Loehr is survived by his wife, Ethel (nee Gummersheimer) Loehr; daughters, Joann (Rick) Holmes and Deborah (Steve) Heise; a son, LeRoy L. (Lynn) Loehr, Jr.; grandchildren, Colan Holmes, Toby (Susan) Holmes, Julie Stevenson, Johnathan Heise and Chris Loehr; great-grandchildren, Axel Holmes and Delysia Loehr; and sisters, Dorothy (Kenny) Oexner and Myrtle Voss; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Scott James Mueller, 50, of Waterloo, died Nov. 29, 2014 in St. Louis. He was born June 3, 1964 in Belleville, the son of Jack and Judie Mueller. Besides his parents, Mr. Mueller is survived by his brother, Craig (Holly) Mueller; niece, Emily Mueller; nephew, Jacob Mueller; fiancée, Kimberly Vance; and step-daughter, Jacalyn (Adam) Riegel (son Levi); along with aunts, uncles and cousins.
