Scott P. Huebner, 47, of Waterloo, died Dec. 3, 2006, in Red Bud. He was born Jan. 15, 1959, in Red Bud, the son of Marlene Huebner nee Sasenger and the late Paul Huebner. Mr. Huebner is survived by his mother; daughter Shaw Huebner of Waterloo; fiancee Eva Madden of Waterloo; siblings Dennis (Elizabeth Bivins) Huebner of Waterloo, Keith Huebner of Waterloo, Cheryl Huebner of Springfield, Mo., and David (Shaundra) Huebner of Waterloo; fiancée’s children Jeremiah Madden, Tiffany Sneed, Tammy Sneed, Tara Sneed and Travis Sneed; fiancée’s grandchildren Ivy Anderson and Natasha Warren; nieces and nephews Melody Huebner, Denise Huebner, Paul Huebner, Kelli (John) Niebruegge, Julia )Greg) Newell, Kenneth Huebner, Mary Ann Huebner, Patrick Huebner, Tyler Huebner, Jarett Huebner, Madison Huebner and Samuel Huebner; and great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, great-uncle Ed DeBourge, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents. Mr. Huebner attended St. Patrick Church in Tipton. He was a member of Cement Masons Local #90 in Troy and Laborers Local #196 in Waterloo. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at St. Patrick Church in Tipton, Fr. Jose Jacob officiating. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Madonnaville. Donald R. Ganley, 74, of Waterloo, died Dec. 4, 2006, in Red Bud. He was born July 11, 1932, in St. Louis the son of the late Peter and Frances Ganley nee Walsh. Mr. Ganley is survived by his brother Pete Ganley Jr. of Waterloo, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Ganley was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. A graveside service was held at St. Patrick Cemetery in Tipton, Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating.
Mary L. Shelton nee Smith, 62, of Marissa, formerly of Valmeyer, died Dec. 4, 2006, in Marissa. She was born May 22, 1944, in Wetauge, the daughter of the late Harley E. and Mary L. Smith nee Phalin. She was married to the late Ralph James Shelton. Mrs. Shelton is survived by her brother Ray W. (Linda) Smith of Marissa, and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and three brothers. A graveside service was held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.
Herman P. Menke, 97, of Columbia, died Dec. 7, 2006, in Columbia. He was born Jan. 9, 1909, in Prairie du Rocher, the son of the late Henry and Alice Menke nee Sawyer. He was married to Catherine Menke nee Schmidt. Mr. Menke is survived by his wife; sons Ervin (Donna) Menke of Columbia, Shirley Williams of Waterloo, Orville (Beverly) Menke of Columbia, Robert (Mildred) Menke of Waterloo, and Larry (Reba) Menke of Waterloo; daughter-in-law Shirley Menke of Waterloo; grandchildren Teresa Rusteberg, Pat Killingsworth, Michelle Gummersheimer, Dawn Menke, Mike Williams, Tim Williams, Kathy Ervin, Shryl Hamilton, Wayne Menke, Renee Hoggard, Shelly Menke, Nicole Menke, Susan Stratman, April Menke, Danny Menke, Millie Menke, Steve Menke and Heather Menke; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Mineman of Prairie du Rocher; sister-in-law Jean Menke of Red Bud; brothers-in-law William (Lorena) Schmidt of Columbia and Elmer (Maxine) Schmidt of Columbia; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son Vernon Menke; brothers William Menke and Henry “Hank” Menke; son-in-law Elmer Williams; sister Mary Mineman; father-in-law and mother-in-law William and Augusta Schmidt; grandchildren Diane Menke, Donna Menke, Brian Menke and Bradley Menke; and two great-grandchildren. Viola M. Weisenborn nee Bock, 97, of Columbia, died Dec. 5, 2006, in Columbia. She was born April 27, 1909, in Advance, Mo., the daughter of the late Frederick and Clara Bock nee Sparfield. She was married to the late Omer C. Weisenborn. He preceded her in death in 1972. Mr. Weisenborn is survived by her children Gloria Morton of Belleville, Florence Farmer of Columbia, Wayne (JoAnn) Weisenborn of Columbia, Barbara (Ed) Schutte of Columbia, and Harold Weisenborn of Overland Park, Kan.; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Loretta Frazier and granddaughter Dianne Morton. Mrs. Weisenborn attended St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, where she was a member of the Women’s Guild. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Rob Morris Chapter in Fairview Heights and Columbia Senior Citizens, and was a volunteer at the American Red Cross blood banks. Dorothy Wilma Rehg nee Harvey, 89, of Millstadt, died Dec. 8, 2006, in Belleville. She was born Sept. 14, 1917, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Erwin Leroy and Sophie Louise Harvey nee Schonhoff. She was married to the late Archibald Oliver Rehg. Mrs. Rehg is survived by her sister Mary Egbert of Millstadt, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings Harold Harvey, Edith Brem, Burton Harvey, Lillian Buatte and Elsie Staley. Mrs. Rehg was a member of Concordia United Church of Christ in Belleville. She had worked at Castle Haven Nursing Home. Visitation and a funeral service were at Strauss Funeral Home in Millstadt. Melvin L. Gasser, 91, formerly of Columbia, died Dec. 10, 2006, in Shawnee, Okla. He was born Nov. 21, 1915, in Floraville, the son of the late Otto and Frieda Gasser nee Bryant. He was married to the late Mildred “Millie” Gasser nee Roberts for more than 50 years. Mr. Gasser is survived by his sister Delores Eddy of Carlinville and companion Lola Pancini of Shawnee, Okla. Mr. Gasser retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserves during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post #581 in Columbia. He enjoyed woodworking, particularly furniture-making and caning. He also enjoyed traveling, wine making, reading and fishing. Bradley M. Schumacher, 36, died Dec. 10, 2006, in Union, Tenn. He was born Feb. 23, 1970, in Belleville, the son of Lester and Shirley Schumacher nee Block of Columbia. Mr. Schumacher is survived by his brothers Scott (Lisa) Schumacher of Columbia, and Cris (Gretchen Riebeling) Schumacher of Columbia; niece and nephew Brendan and Madison Schumacher; special friend Marsha Steppig of Columbia; and other relatives and friends. Beulah M. Sendelbeck nee Lerch, 84, of Waterloo, died Dec. 10, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born June 18, 1922, in Harrisonville, the daughter of the late Adam and Francis E. Lerch nee Niebruegge. She was married to the late Leo J. Sendelbeck. Mrs. Sendelbeck is survived by her sisters Verona (Clarence) Sendelbeck of Waterloo, and Ellen (Spencer) Kipping of Waterloo; and a sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Henry W. Lerch and niece Jane Lerch. Mrs. Sendelbeck was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Retired Teachers Association. Gladys M. Schmidt nee Werling, 89, of Columbia, died Dec. 11, 2006, in Belleville. She was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Monroe County, the daughter of the late August and Agatha Werling nee Mueller. She married the late Arnold “Skip” Schmidt in 1941; he preceded her in death in 2002. Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her daughter Ruth Ann Dedee of O’Fallon; grandchildren Steve (Lara) Schmidt, John Schmidt, Amanda (Pat) Fromme, Ryan Schmidt and Sarah Eckert; great-grandchildren Megan Schmidt, Nolan Schmidt, Emma Fromme and Gunnar Schmidt; daughter-in-law Barb Schmidt of Columbia; and other relatives and friends.
