Kris S. Sprague
57-year-old Fairfield resident, Kris S. Sprague died at 1:55 Monday afternoon, Dec. 16, 2002 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, and a union electrician.
Survivors include his wife, Mary, a daughter, Beth of Fairfield, his parents, Howard Nyman of Exeter, N.H., and Hazel Earle of Epson N.H., two brothers, Ray of Epson, N.H., and Curt of N.H., and a sister, Earline Sprague of Maine.
Funeral services for Kris S. Sprague were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery with full military rites.
Visitation was from 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, until the time of service at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Vera Louise Copeland
81-year-old former Albion resident, Vera Louise Copeland died at 7:35 Monday morning, Dec. 16, 2002 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. She was self employed and sold Avon for 35 years.
Survivors include two sons, Randy of Urbana and Keith of Herrin; a sister, Shirley Patterson of Houston, TX; two brothers, Don Murray of Olney and Myron Murray of Harrison, Mich., four grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Services for Verla Louise Copeland were at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery near Olney.
Visitation was from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, at the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Albion or the Edwards County Senior Citizens.
Clara Koontz
91-year-old Fairfield resident, Clara Koontz, died at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, December 14th, 2002 at Burgan Manor Nursing Home in Olney.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Clara Koontz were at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Koontz Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6 until 8 Wednesday evening, Dec. 18, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Mary Helen Edwards
58-year-old former Broughton resident, Mary Helen Edwards of Mattoon died at 9:25 Sunday morning, Dec. 15, 2002 at Provena Covenant Medical Center in Charleston.
Survivors include her mother, Alma Kane of Broughton; a son, Ashley Kane Gholson of Mattoon, a daughter, Meredith Denise Gholson of Charleston, a sister, Ruth Ellenl Gholson of Broughton, a companion, Jerry Wilkinson of Mattoon, and one granddaughter.
Services for Mary Helen Edwards were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 at First Baptist Church in Broughton with burial in Barker Cemetery near Broughton.
Visitation was from 11:30 Wednesday morning, Dec. 18, until the time of service at the church.

Eldon Prince
86-year-old Mount Vernon resident, Eldon Prince died at 5:58 Sunday evening, Dec. 15, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. A U.S. Army Veteran of WW II, he was a retired school custodian, retiring from East Side Grade School.
Survivors include a brother, Gerald of McLeansboro; a sister, Audrey Webb of McLeansboro; three nephews and a niece.
Services for Eldon Prince were at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in Bethel Cemetery at Mount Vernon.
Visitation was from 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Thelma Sills
62-year-old Iuka resident, Thelma Sills died at 12 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 at Salem Hospital
Survivors include three sons, Roy Wiseman of Iuka, Carl Wiseman of Fairfield, and Dennis Wiseman of Eldorado; one daughter, Teresa wiseman of Iuka also survives.
Graveside services for Thelma Sills were at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18, at Salem Township Cemetery.
Visitation was from 12:30 til 1:30 Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 18, at the Roger Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.
Jessie Stone
72 year old Fairfield resident, Jessie Stone, died at 6:25 p.m. Friday, December 13th, 2002 in the emergency room at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are her husband Ralph; 2 daughters, Linda Tibbs of Fairfield and Diana Kissner of Wayne City; 2 sons, Tony Rister of Fairfield and Eddie Stone of Wayne City; a sister, Freda Foley of Rockford; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

87 year old Macedonia resident, Hobart Campbell Sr. died at 8:15 p.m. Friday, December 13th, 2002 at Willow Care Center in Eldorado.
Surviving are a son, Hobert Campbell, Jr. of Macedonia; 2 sisters, Geneva Nagreski of Benton, Il. and Iva Gene Arnold of Memphis, Tennessee; 2 grandchildren, Bonnie Jones of Harrisburg and Tim Porter of Eldorado; and 5 great-grandchildren, Miranda and Brent Jones both of Harrisburg, and Thomas, Drew, and Gabe Porter all of Eldorado.

Surviving are 2 daughters, Barbara Edwards of Albion and Marjorie Flannagan of Waukegan, Il.; 2 sons, Murrel Kelley of Fairfield and Norman Kelley of Benton, Kentucky; 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a nephew, Richard Kilbreth of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

54 year old Rt. 3 McLeansboro resident, Ricky D. Taylor, died at 5:59 a.m. Saturday, December 14th, 2002 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Surviving are 2 sons, Ricky Dean Taylor Jr. of Centralia and Michael Lee Taylor of Odin; 2 daughters, Brenda Taylor of Centralia and Amy Morris of McLeansboro; 2 brothers, Charles Taylor of Dale, Il. and Roger Taylor of McLeansboro; 4 sisters, Peggy French and Mary Moore both of McLeansboro, Delores Thomason of Wayne City and Darlene Lumb of Carmi; and 9 grandchildren, Dylan and Alexis Taylor, Brendin, Roshelle, Bradin and Reese Taylor, Kaytlin and Cheyenne McDaniel and Alyssa Martin.
