Joshua David Garland, 28, of Millstadt, died Oct. 8, 2006, in Belleville. He was born April 11, 1978, in Belleville, the son of Larry and Susan Garland nee Etling. Mr. Garland is survived by his parents; sister Sarah Garland; grandparents Homer and Dorothy Etling; aunts Gwen Metternich, Dorothy Clement, Mary Traeger and Cheryl Gordon; uncles Allen Garland, Cecil Garland, Bruce Garland and Glen Garland; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his uncles Edward Garland, Joseph Garland and aunt Eva Persch. Mr. Garland was a union carpenter with local #433. Dorothea A. Brandt nee Offermann, 84, of Waterloo, died Oct. 9, 2006, in Red Bud. She was born Feb. 21, 1922, in Fults, the daughter of the late John D. and Katerina Offermann nee Wild. She was married to the late Elmer W. Brandt. Mrs. Brandt is survived by her daughter Carol (Larry) Nottmeier of Fults; grandson Lonnie (Heidi) Nottmeier of Fults; great-granddaughters Leslie Nottmeier and Amanda Nottmeier; and siblings Ervin (Vera) Rippelmeyer, Walter (Hilda) Scheibe, Theodore Offermann and John (Mabel) Offermann. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother George Offermann; and sisters Olga Juelfs, Adele Merlenbach, Clara Josten and Frieda Schatte. Juanita M. LeTempf nee Bennett, 78, of Dupo, died Oct. 10, 2006, in Belleville. She was born Nov. 30, 1927, in Roxanna, the daughter of the late Buck and Gladys Bennett nee Free. Mrs. LeTempf is survived by her children Charlotte (Bruce) Warswick of Ankeny, Iowa, Michael L. (Deborah) Simmons of Columbia, Roger D. (Jane) Simmons of East Carondelet, and Susan (Derrick) Bartotto of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; 12 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Marvie D. Simmons, second husband Louis J. LeTempf, siblings Clifford Bennett, Pauline Johnson and Harold Bennett, and two sisters in infancy. Irma V. Rehmer nee Dinga, 90, of Waterloo, died Oct. 11, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born March 18, 1916, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late John and Isabella Dinga nee Bela. She was married to the late Clarence Rehmer. Mrs. Rehmer is survived by her daughters Elaine (Tom) Carr of Waterloo, and Linda (Willard) Krebel of Waterloo; grandchildren John (Janice) Rehmer, Sarah (Mike) O’Reilly, Jay (Pattie) Carr, Derek (Jenny) Carr, Amy (Mark) Wetzler, Ginger (Nick) Amann, and Casey (Dawn) Krebel; 15 great-grandchildren; brother Paul (Becky) Dinga of Belleville; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Roger A. Rehmer, infant daughter Melvina Mae Rehmer, a sister and brothers. Irene E. Scherle, 80, of Evansville, died Oct. 15, 2006, in St. Louis. She was born Sept. 28, 1926, in Prairie du Rocher, the daughter of the late Henry and Elsie Schmidt nee Menke. She was married to Percy Scherle. Mrs. Scherle is survived by her husband; children Kenneth (Judy) Scherle of Ruma, Betty (George) Kawalec of Ruma, Larry (Cheryl) Scherle of Ruma, Dale (Sandy) Scherle of Evansville, Frances (Scott) Studt of Waterloo, Kay (Scott) Scheibe of Prairie du Rocher, and Arlene (Edward) Martin of New Athens; 13 grandchildren; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, son Ralph Scherle, and brothers Leo Schmidt and Oscar Schmidt. Mrs. Scherle was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ruma and was an avid quilter. Pauline A. “Polly” Carter nee Sveticki, 70, of Waterloo, died Oct. 13, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born July 5, 1936, in Barkley, W. Va., the daughter of the late Tony and Lillian Sveticki nee Horvath. She was married to Glendon Carter. Mrs. Carter is survived by her husband; daughter Tracy (Dave) Haverstick of Pacific, Mo.; sisters Lillian Rogalski of Detroit, Mich., Katie (Joe) Cindrich of Detroit, Mich., and Elizabeth Van China of Roseville, Mo.; grandson Jonathan Haverstick of Pacific, Mo.; and special friends Dr. Michael Konstan of Cleveland, Ohio, Barb (Jesus) Quinones, Jimmy, Dario and Ally Quinones, all of Waterloo, and Mike Dougherty of Red Bud. Mary Margaret Raitt nee Moore, 84, of Waterloo, formerly of Dupo, died Oct. 15, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born Feb. 17, 1922, in Ackerman, Miss., the daughter of the late Lee A. and Eva Moore nee Porter. She was married to the late Hubert S. Raitt Sr. Mrs. Raitt is survived by her children Scott (Kathy) Raitt of Waterloo, and Joyce (Kevin) Kerr of Rockton; grandchildren Jodi (Don) Doerr, Jan (Jim) Turley, Stephanie Kerr and Hillarie Kerr; great-grandchildren Jennifer Warner, Jimmy Turley and Jenny Turley; siblings Sara Frances Jenkins of Memphis, Tenn., Bob (June) Moore of Stockbridge, Ga., and Esther (Joe) Rockwell of Pascagoula, Miss.; sisters-in-law Ruth Raitt of Dupo and Tommie Raitt of Las Vegas, Nev.; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mrs. Raitt was a member of First Baptist Church of Waterloo. She was also a member of Eastern Star. She was a longtime employee of Monroe County Care and Rehab Center and was a certified instructor at Belleville Area College. Roy F. Nobbe, 91, of Waterloo, died Oct. 16, 2006, in Waterloo. He was born July 10, 1915, in Waterloo, the son of the late Fred and Amalia Nobbe nee Rabbermann. He was married to the late Esther Nobbe nee Schaper. Mr. Nobbe is survived by his daughter Nancy (Joseph) Frank of Waterloo; grandchildren Michael (Julie) Frank, Davie (Katie) Frank, and Kimberly Frank; great-grandchildren Joey Frank and Ryan Frank, sister Hulda Wink; and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Theodore G. Offermann, 95, of Waterloo, died Oct. 16, 2006, in Waterloo. He was born Aug. 16, 1911, in Renault, the son of the late John D. and Katherina Offermann nee Wild. He was married to the late Ruth Offermann. Mr. Offermann is survived by his son Larry (Karen) Offermann of Waterloo; grandchildren Brian Offermann and Amy Offermann; siblings Vera (Ervin) Rippelmeyer of Waterloo, Hilda Scheibe of Waterloo and John (Mabel) Offermann of Columbia; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters and a brother. Mr. Offermann was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo. He was also a member of the American Legion for more than 60 years and the Monroe County Farm Bureau. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a retired farmer. Arnilda L. Germann nee Mueller, 101, of Columbia, formerly of Millstadt, died Oct. 18, 2006, in Columbia. She was born May 3, 1905, in Millstadt Township, the daughter of the late Fred and Louise Mueller nee Guckes. She was married to the late Harry G. Germann. Mrs. Germann is survived by her nieces Corine Bratzel and Geraldine (Jake) Hough; other nieces, nephews, relatives and other friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Frederick Mueller, brother-in-law Leroy Poetker, sister-in-law Ether Mae “Dolly” Mueller, sister Meta Poetker and nephew Gerald Kempf. Mrs. Germann was a member of Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt. She was also a charter member of VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7980 in Millstadt.
