Viola B. Schorb nee Walter, 86, of Columbia, died Aug. 3, 2006, in St. Louis. She was born April 24, 1920, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Henry P. and Katherine M. Walter nee Schroeter. She was married to the late Oliver A. Schorb; he preceded her in death in 1999. Mrs. Schorb is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Hilda Walter. Mrs. Schorb was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, where she was active with the Women’s League. She was also a member of Columbia Senior Citizens and the Moredock Home Extension. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Pastor Bob Goddard officiating. She is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia.
Paul W. Schrader, 85, of Ruma, died Aug. 3, 2006, in Red Bud. He was born Nov. 19, 1920, in Evansville, the son of the late Henry and Emilie Schrader nee Albrecht. Mr. Schrader is survived by brother Charles J. Schrader of Ruma; nieces and nephews Darwin Schrader, Darrell Schrader, Swain Schrader, Diann Schrader and Carol Tobin; and great-nieces and great-nephews Timothy Schrader, Daniel Schrader, Jarrod Tobin and Jill Wetzel. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Henry Schrader. Mr. Schrader was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ruma and St. John’s Men’s Club. He was a retired farmer. Visitation was at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. Funeral services were at St. John Lutheran Church in Ruma, Rev. James Leistico officiating. Mary A. Shaw nee Moon, 69, of Columbia, died Aug. 3, 2006, in Mehlville, Mo. She was born Dec. 14, 1936, in New Harmony, Ind., the daughter of the late John and Jenny Moon nee Endicott. Mrs. Shaw is survived by her sons John R. (Kris) Shaw of Granite City, David (Amy) Shaw of Columbia, and Kenneth (Angela) Shaw of Waterloo; grandchildren Ashtin DeFlurin, Spencer Shaw, Alexa Shaw and Lillian Shaw; and other relatives and friends. Mrs. Moon was retired from nursing at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Jefferson Barracks in St. Louis. She was a member of Columbia Woman’s Club. Her passions included reading, pets, gardening and playing bridge. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Rev. Mark Shelton officiating. She was cremated, per her wishes. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Monroe County.
Frances C. Brady nee Adamini, 72, of Waterloo, died Aug. 6, 2006, in Des Peres, Mo. She was born July 7, 1934, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Adamini nee Stankus. She was married to the late Patrick J. Brady. Mrs. Brady is survived by her children Michael Brady of Oakville, Mo., Carol (Mike) Thomas of St. Clair, Mo., Colleen (Tom) Hayes of Waterloo, George (Margaret) Brady of Waterloo, and Kathleen (Bryan) Hays of Waterloo; grandchildren Russel, Rachael, Alyssa, Madison, Blair, Carson and Brayden; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mrs. Brady was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Church in Waterloo. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at SS. Arthur E. Bald, 86, of Van Buren, Ind., formerly of Waterloo and Columbia, died Aug. 9, 2006, in Van Buren, Ind. He was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Burksville, the son of the late John H. and Alma Bald nee Hesterberg. He was married to Waneta Linton Bald. Mr. Bald is survived by his wife; step-sons Terry (Lori) Linton of Marion, Ind., and Kenneth Linton of Warsaw, Ind.; step-daughter Linda (Garry) Long of Van Buren, Ind.; five step-grandchildren; nieces Patricia DeBourge nee Neurohr, Mary Neurohr, and Betty Roberts nee Neurohr; nephew Bernard F. Neurohr; sister Wilma (Wilbert) Stellhorn of Red Bud; sister-in-law Pauline M. Neurohr; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Elsie Bald nee Neurohr, whom he married on 1946, and sisters Edna Bald and Norma Meyer. Mr. Bald was part-owner of Waterloo Motors from 1946 to 1976. He owned and operated Bald’s Garage in Columbia from 1976 to 1982, when he retired. He was a member of the board of directors of State Bank of Waterloo for 26 years, retiring in 2006. He was a veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1945 as a TEC-4 with the 79th Division HQ & HQ Co. 315th Infantry in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. William W. “Bill” Vickers Jr., 52, of Dupo, died Aug. 10, 2006, in St. Louis. He was born Sept. 13, 1953, in East St. Louis, the son of William W. and Wilma Vickers Sr. nee Lunsford of Dupo. Mr. Vickers is survived by his parents; sister Nancy (Raymond) Posey of Dupo; nieces Heather (Neal) Gipson of Post Falls, Idaho, and Holly (Craig) Mueller of Imperial, Mo.; nephews Joshua Vickers and Benjamin Vickers, both of Kansas City, Mo.; aunt Sarah Hamilton of Waterloo; and aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Robert Vickers. Mr. Vickers was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of the American Legion Prairie du Pont Post 485 in Dupo and the Randolph Rod and Gun Club in Sparta. He was an associate member of the Illinois Police Association, served on the board of directors for Gateway Chapter of Paralyzed Veterans of America, and was a participant in the PVA National Disabled Sports Clinics for the Jefferson Barracks Sports Team. He was self-employed in the heating and air conditioning business. Visitation and funeral services were at Dashner Funeral Home in Dupo, Fr. Bill Remsing officiating. Norma J. Wise nee Gerlach, 71, died Aug. 14, 2006, in St. Louis. She was born May 26, 2006, in Sparta, the daughter of the late Everett Gerlach and the late Beulah Wendell nee Johnsey, and step-daughter of the late Edward “Dink” Wendell. She was married to the late Curtis Wise Jr. Mrs. Wise is survived by her son Curtis A. (Carol) Wise of Belleville; daughters Rebecca A. (Gary) Sloan of Festus, Mo., and Faith E. (Brian) Schumacher of Waterloo; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister Della (Marvin) Myers of Percy; half-sisters Lucille Clayton of Sparta, Irene (Bruce) Tabor of Marissa and Joyce Harris of St. Louis; and half-brothers Rex A. (Carolyn) Wendell of Willisville and Leroy Gerlach of Sparta. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-gather, husband, son Ronald Wise, half-brother Jack Wendell and half-sister Berry Jean Gerlach. Mrs. Wise was retired from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Courtney L. Woodrome, 75, of Columbia, died Aug. 27, 2006. He was born Aug. 7, 2006, in East St. Louis, the son of the late Chester and Sylvia Woodrome nee Turner. He was married to Freda Woodrome nee Thompson for 52 years; she survived him. Mr. Woodrome is survived by his wife; daughter Anita (Chuck) Doermann of Belleville; son Cyril (Julie) Woodrome of Town and Country, Mo.; and grandchildren Matthew Woodrome, Christine Woodrome, Timothy Woodrome, Mason Doermann and Christopher Doermann; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Woodrome was a member of Westview Baptist Church. He was the owner and operator of Dependable Exterminating Company and formerly worked at Sears and Roebuck in East St. Louis. He served as the secretary-treasurer for retail clerks union #676. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Korean War and the Sons of the Spanish American War Veterans. Visitation and funeral services were at Kurrus Funeral Home in Belleville, the Rev. Dr. Jack Fritz officiating. He is buried at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Hilda Mueller nee Eitmann, 99, of Waterloo, died Aug. 30, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born May 11, 1907, in New Hanover, the daughter of the late John W. and Wilhelmina Eitmann nee Kettler. She married the late Eugene J. Mueller in 1928. Mrs. Mueller is survived by her daughters Charlotte (David) Weihl of Louisville, Ky., and Margaret Richardson of St. Louis; granddaughters Lynne (Ed) Huckleberry, Karen (Jim) Putlak, Janice (Larry) Graham, Laura (Charlie) Blackorby, L. Peggy (Steven) Hicks, and Stephanie Sanders (Dan Terhaar); step-granddaughters Beverly Richardson and Renee Simpkins; great-grandchildren Andrew Huckleberry, Aaron Putlak, Allison Putlak and Lauren Chappel; step-great-grandchildren Ciara Richardson, Tiera Richardson, Cameron Simpkins, Cornell Simpkins and Tiana Simpkins; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Charlotte “Lottie” Wessel, Louise Neubarth and Elsie Nobbe, and brother Herman Eitmann. Mrs. Mueller was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ at New Hanover her entire life. She was a volunteer at Monroe County Care and Rehabilitation Center for more than 20 years and was pas president and member emeritus of Monroe County HCE. She was an inspiration to all who knew her. Frances V. Markham, 84, of Waterloo, died Aug. 31, 2006, in Belleville. She was born Nov. 21, 1921, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kukla nee Chmura. She was married to the late Volney Markham. Mrs. Markham is survived by her sons Wayne (Lois) Markham of Marathon, Fla., and Dennis (Barbara) Markham of Waterloo; grandchildren Heather (Keither) Stewart, Sean (Jaime) Markham, Jesse Markham and Eli Markham; great-granddaughter Sydney Stewart; siblings Helen (August) Marquardt of Columbia, John Kukla of Collinsville, Jennie Lane of St. Louis and Annie Lee of East St. Louis; and nephews, nieces and cousins.
