Lucille Palmer nee Longloy, 87, of Red Bud, died March 16, 2006, in Red Bud. She was born May 26, 1918, in Modoc, the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Amanda Longloy nee Glasgow. Mrs. Palmer is survived by her daughters Reta (James) Boyle of Rosebud, Mo., May (Robert) Blelefeld of Prairie du Rocher, and Tina (Melvin) Heinemann of Evansville; grandchildren Tanya Schoenbeck, Tom Oakley, Bart Heinemann, Ted Heinemann, Tail Heinemann and Amanda Schwab; great-grandchildren Nathan, Wade, Noah, Kayden, Emma, Luke and David; and great-great-grandchildren Evan, Owen and Aiden. She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters Margaret LaBruyere and Vallie Oudin. Mrs. Palmer was Catholic. Visitation and funeral services were at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud, Fr. Jessaline L. Mehrtens nee Fritz, 83, of Columbia, died March 18, 2006, in Belleville. She was born May 23, 1922, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Fred Jr. and Frieda Fritz nee Heitmann. She was married to the late Fred H. Mehrtens. Mrs. Mehrtens is survived by her children Rose Anne (Ray) Bense of Columbia, Karen Mehrtens of Decatur, Nancy (John Sr.) Prather of Waterloo, Roger (Laura) Mehrtens of Columbia and Davie (Robyn) Mehrtens of Shawnee, Kan.; grandchildren Ericha (Curt) Sondag, John “Benji” (Brooke) Prather, Matthew (Jennifer) Prather, Aaron Bense, Bryan Prather, Ashley Mehrtens, Brooke Mehrtens, Kirsten Mehrtens, and Emma Mehrtens; step-grandchildren Erica Gruber and Joshua Gruber, great-granddaughter Lillian Prather; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Eleanora Faust, Anne Fritz and Delbert Koch; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Fred Mehrtens and brothers Karl Fritz and Fred Fritz. Mrs. Mehrtens was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover, where she was a member of Women’s Fellowship. She was also a member of American Legion Auxiliary, Monroe County HCE and New Hanover Card Club. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Elsie M. Josten nee Faus, 104, of Waterloo, died March 21, 20006, in Waterloo. She was born December 25, 1901, in Maeystown, the daughter of the late Louis and Eleanor Faus Jr. nee Hartman. She was married to the late Armin “Roundy” Josten. Mrs. Josten is survived by her children Helen (Royce) Cheney of Waterloo and Shirley (Charles) Cameron of Hecker; grandchildren David Cheney, Mike (Debbie) Cheney, Mark Cameron, Debbie (Pete) Egan, and Gail (Glen) Wetzler; great-grandchildren Bill (Rana) Cheney, Ryan Cheney, Greta Cheney, Katie (Wil) Hoppe, Ryan (Elisa) Wetzler, Justin Wetzler and Sam Egan; great-great-grandchildren Chelsea Cheney, Tom Cheney and Hannah Cheney; and sister Norma Sopp. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sisters Emma Thiele, Frieda Pfeifer, Eleanor Reinhold, Bertha Faus, Nelda Breidecker and Hulda Faus; and brothers Albert Faus and Louis Faus. Elenora F. Hermes nee Hughes, 88, of Waterloo, died March 22, 2006, in Columbia. She was born November 29, 1917, in Marydale, the daughter of the late Peter and Florence Hughes nee Olga. She was married to the late John W. Hermes. Mrs. Hermes is survived by her son John (Karen) Hermes of Waterloo; daughter-in-law Debbie Hermes; grandchildren Ann Hermes, Peter Hermes, Michael Hermes and Mark Hermes; brother-in-law Ervin Hodapp; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Joseph M. Hermes, and brothers. Mrs. Hermes was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Trenton, where she was a member of Altar Sodality. Harold J. Meillier, 91, of Waterloo, died March 23, 2006, in Waterloo. He was born May 10, 1914, in Faribault, Minn., the son of the late Joseph and May Frances Meillier nee Ponto. He was married to Helen Klein Meillier nee Ragland. Mr. Meillier is survived by his wife; children Noreen (Bill) Reeves of Fairfield; grandchildren Michael (Denise) Reeves of Minooka, and Trish (Timothy) Riordan of Pickerington, Ohio; great-grandchildren Taylor Reeves, Vanessa Reeves, Matthew Riordan, Daniel Riordan and Jack Riordan; sisters Anna Marie Beueler of El Sobrante, Calif., and Patricia (Robert) Kost of Newport Beach Calif.; brother David (Lois) Meillier of Faribault, Minn.; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Marcella Meillier nee Moeller; sister Evelyn (Philip) Beaupre; and brothers Donald (Julia) Meillier, Bernard (Vera) Meillier, Robert (Bernice) Meillier, Edward (Joan) Meillier, Raphael (Barbara) Meillier, and Gerald (Bonnie) Meillier. Gladys E. Stellhorn nee Heller, 82, of Waterloo, died March 23, 2006, in Red Bud. She was born June 18, 1923, in Renault, the daughter of the late Ben and Anna Heller nee Weihe. She was married to the late Elmer Stellhorn. Mrs. Stellhorn is survived by her children Richard Stellhorn of Waterloo, Robert (Bonnie) Stellhorn of Percy, Gerald (Chris) Stellhorn of Waterloo and Diane (John) Busch of Columbia; grandchildren Lisa Greenfield, Valerie (Wendell) Taylor, Jeremy (Becky) Stellhorn, Aaron Stellhorn, Natasha Stellhorn, Stacey Busch and Travis Busch; great-grandchildren Tyler Greenfield and Christopher Taylor; sister Ardell (Frank) Linnertz of Red Bud; brother Gilbert (Leona) Heller of Red Bud; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. Roger Billy Klump, 63, formerly of Columbia, died March 24. He was the son of the late Roger and Bernice Rose Klump. He married twice. He is survived by his mother, daughter Brenna of California, several grandchildren who live in Washington, and sister Cheryl Klump Perkins, of France. Mr. Klump moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles, Calif., where he was vice-president of a tool company. He sold his property, bought a houseboat and lived off the coast of Mexico. He died of pancreatic cancer and was cremated in California.
Carolyn S. Nicholson nee Rednour, 59, of Red Bud, died March 28, 2006, in Red Bud. She was born August 29, 1946, in Coulterville, the daughter of Loretta Rednour nee Edgar and the late Charles Rednour. She married John Nicholson in 1973. Mrs. Nicholson is survived by her mother; husband; children Lori (Bill) Thomas of Lenzberg, Richard Mulholland of Red Bud, Georgette Smith of Red Bud, Nichole Nicholson of Red Bud, Cheryl (Arthur) Martin of Belleville, and Don (Lisa) Nicholson of New Athens; grandchildren Megan Martin, Arthur Martin, Amber Nicholson, Ashley Nicholson, Adam Nicholson, Aaron Nicholson, Levi Smith, John Murray, Carl Wilyard and Layla Wilyard; sister Ruth Ann (Dave) Pingsterhaus of Albers; and brother Richard (Marcia) Rednour of Coulterville. She was preceded in death by her father and sister Dorothy Rednour in infancy. Mrs. Nicholson was a member of First Baptist Church in Red Bud. He married the late Verona H. Knefelkamp nee Schayth in 1939. Mr. Knefelkamp is survived by his son Jan (Cheryl) Knefelkamp of Hohenwald, Tenn.; son-in-law John Cookson of Annapolis, Md.; grandchildren Chad (Michelle) Knefelkamp of Waterloo, Valerie (Charles) Cookson-Botto of Winchester, Va., Angela (Grant) Orr of Darnestown, Md., Stacey (Tim) Greuttemeyer of Foristell, Mo., Christine (Sean Lawrence) Cookson of North Hollywood, Calif., Kelly Knefelkamp, Kyle Knefelkamp, Olivia Orr, Anthony Orr and Isabelle Botto; dear friend Mary Hoffmann of Waterloo; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter Toni Ann Cookson; brothers Marshall Knefelkamp and Homer Knefelkamp, and sisters Leona Knefelkamp, Ruth Kirkwood, Helen Williamson and Mildred Place. Lee Toal, 80, of Waterloo, died March 30, 2006, in Chesterfield, Mo. He was born March 13, 1926, in Jerseyville, the son of the late Leo R. and Hildegarde Toal Sr. nee Brown. He was married to Patricia Toal nee Barner. Mr. Toal is survived by his wife; children Russell (Elizabeth) Toal of Atlanta, Ga., and Nancy (Kent) Ritzel of St. Louis; grandchildren Beth (Noel) Goeddel, Sarah Elder, JT Welsch, Lindsay Welsch, Alex Welsch, Adam (Robin) Welsch, Adam Toal, Laura Toal, Zack Toal, and Rebecca Bradley; brothers Jack (Ruth) Toal of Waterloo, and Robert (Mary) Toal of Waterloo; sister Imogene Toal of Columbia; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
