Margaret B. Schnittger nee Adams, 76, of Columbia, died January 3, 2006, in Belleville. She was born May 9, 1929, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late George and Cleo Adams nee Brown. She married the late Robert H. Schnittger in 1952; he preceded her in death in 1989. Mrs. Schnittger is survived by her daughter Dona Brucker of Columbia; grandsons Chris Brucker of San Francisco, Calif., and Jeremy (Dawn) Brucker of Waterloo; brothers Robert (Barb) Adams of Dallas, Tex., and John (Mary) Adams of Millstadt; dear friend Barbara Stumpf of Columbia; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Robert Schnittger Jr., sister May Geiger and brother Edward Adams. Mrs. Schnittger was the past owner and operator of Farmer’s Inn in Columbia. Marjorie Evangeline Ormesher nee Walters, 87, of New Kensington, Penn., died January 1, 2006, in Belleville. She was born February 9, 1918, in Griffithstown, Wales, to the late Alfred and Elsie Walters nee Bevan. She was married to the late Harold Ormesher for 48 years; he preceded her in death in 1987. Mrs. Ormesher is survived by her children Thomas A. (Lynn) Ormesher of Waterloo, Robert H. (Rebecca) Ormesher of Bethlehem, Penn., and William H. (June) Ormesher of Dallas, Tex.; grandchildren James T. (Susan) Ormesher of Red Bud, Shelly G. (Rodney) Doerr of Waterloo, Kurt D. Ormesher of Burlington, Iowa, Mark Ormesher of Bethlehem, Penn., David Ormesher of Los Angeles, Calif., and Jonathan Ormesher of Dallas, Tex.; and great-grandchildren Samantha Ormesher of Red Bud and Sarah Ormesher of Red Bud. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Nancy Ruth Rushing, sister Dorothy Kuhns, and brothers Thomas R. Walters and Arnold J. Walters in infancy. Mrs. Ormesher was a member of First Baptist Church in Upper Burrell Township, Penn., where she was a member of the couples group, Bible study groups, and served on various committees. She was a member of the Missionary Society, Amaranth, Easter Star and the Garden Club. She was devoted to the family, church and church activities. She was a long-time member of the New Kensington High School Class of 1936 reunion committee. She enjoyed gardening and will be remembered as a good neighbor and for her long-time interest and involvement in her neighborhood of Mount Vernon. Olinda R. Matzenbacher nee Pieper, 87, of Lawton, Okla., formerly of Columbia, died January 2, 2006, in Lawton. She was born February 21, 1918, in Monroe County, the daughter of the late Charles and Bertha Pieper nee Rippelmeyer. She married the late Louis Matzenbacher Jr. in 1949; he preceded her in death in 1994. Mrs. Matzenbacher is survived by her daughters Sharon L. (George) Snyder of Lawton, Okla., and Lea (Dave) Berry of Columbia; daughter-in-law Holly Miller of St. Louis; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Leona Ziegler of Knoxville, Tenn.; and other relatives and friends. Clarence J. Schmitz, 80, of Waterloo, died January 3, 2006, in St. Louis. He was born October 24, 1925, in Boxtown, the son of the late John and Helena Schmitz nee Hoef. He was married to Pearl A. Schmitz nee Wienhoff. Mr. Schmitz is survived by his wife; children Sharon (George) Hoerr of Fults, Dennis (Brenda) Schmitz of Waterloo, William (Janet) Schmitz of Waterloo, Robert (Linda) Schmitz of Waterloo, and David (Tamara) Schmitz of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Albert Schmitz, Lawrence W. Schmitz, Oscar Schmitz and Robert Schmitz; sisters Celia Schmeig, Josephine Menke, Vera Gregson and Dolores Schmitz. Mr. Schmitz was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo. He was a former member of St. Patrick Church in Tipton. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Helen K. Wild nee Lich, 91, of Waterloo, died January 4, 2006, in Waterloo. She was born June 22, 1914, in Waterloo, the daughter of the late George and Mary Lich nee Steinsieck. She was married to the late Robert G. Wild. Mrs. Wild is survived by her children Roger (Judy) Wild of Waterloo, Ronald (Dora) Wild of Waterloo, and Larry (Marlene) Wild of Waterloo; grandchildren Tammy (Gary) Krebel of Columbia, Tim (Kim) Wild of Alton, Angie (Brian) Hoffmann of Waterloo, Randy (Tiffany) Wild of St. Louis, Heidi (Matt) Ruwald of Waterloo, and Amy (Lyle) Cope of Mt. Olive; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; sister Talida Nolting of Shakopee, Minn.; brothers Lewis Lich of Waterloo, and Robert Lich of St. Louis; sister-in-law Marie Lich of Waterloo; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Alois Lich. Mrs. Wild was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Maeystown and Maeystown Women’s Fellowship. Dennis R. Heise, 94, of Columbia, died January 6, 2006, in Columbia. He was born April 15, 1911, in Columbia, the son of the late Henry and Emily Juergens Heise Myers nee Schlegel. He married Lucille Seib Heise nee Haudrich in 1990; she survives him. Mr. Heise is survived by his wife; special friends Allen (Perri) Hoock of Waterloo, and John (Dana) Hoock of Fults and their daughter, Lea Hoock; step-children Donna Jean (Roger) Christy of Naples, Fla., Walter Seib of New Mexico, and Mary Beth (Harold) Greer of Smithton; one step-grandson and two step-granddaughters; one step-great-grandson; nephew Larry (Brenda) Heise of Columbia; nieces Nancy Lee of Columbia and Susan (George) Teasley of Troy; and great-nieces and great-nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his first wife Hilda Heise nee Kuni, son Dale Heise, brother Henry Heise, five half-sisters and two half-brothers. Mr. Heise was a retired maintenance supervisor of Monsanto Chemical Company. He was a member of Columbia Blue Lodge #474 AF & AM for 57 years, Scottish Rite Bodies in the Valley of Southern Illinois Masonic Order 32nd Degree, Shriners and Columbia Senior Citizens. There were no public services, per Mr. Heise’s wishes. He is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children in St. Louis.
Mary R. Kendall nee Hayner, 85, of Columbia died January 6, 2006, in Columbia. She was born April 21, 1920, in Laconia, N.H., the daughter of the late Herbert and Helen Hayner nee Daly. She married the late A. Royal Kendall in 1947; he preceded her in death in 1999. Mr. Kendall is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Sam) Habermehl of Columbia; son John (Kathy) Kendall of St. Louis, grandchild Paige Habermehl of St. Louis, and sister Elizabeth King of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mrs. Kendall was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. She was a member of Friends of the Library, Monroe County Home Extension, and was a past member of the Columbia Library Board. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Mildred J. Schultheis nee Novack, 88, of Red Bud, died January 6, 2006, in Red Bud. She was born July 18, 1917, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Francis and Rosella Novak nee Skoda. She was married to the late George O. Schultheis. Mrs. Schultheis is survived by her son Francis Schultheis of Red Bud; grandchildren Richard (Angela) Trask, Scott Koon, Jodie Schultheis and Shawn Schultheis; six great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Diane Jean Koon, sister Sylvia Mueller and brother Frank Novak. Mrs. Schultheis was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in St. Joe. Raymond E. Langsdorf, 63, of Valmeyer, died January 8, 2006, in Belleville. He was born June 21, 1942, in Fountain, the son of the late Raymond A. and Eileen A. Langsdorf Sr. nee Stechmesser. He was married to Eugenia Langsdorf nee Unterseh. Mr. Langsdorf is survived by his wife; children Bret Langsdorf of Valmeyer, Dana (Vince) Siburt of Valmeyer, and Darcy (Mike) Fausz of Maeystown; grandchildren Jacob Siburt, Jamie Siburt, Justin Fausz and John Fausz; sisters Joann (William) Clark of Valmeyer, and Carol Alatorre of Valmeyer; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Langsdorf was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Valmeyer. He was also a member of the Valmeyer Volunteer Fire Department for 35 years and served as a member of the VVFD Board of Trustees since 1993, and he was a charter member of the Valmeyer Jaycees.
