Ernest A. "Short" Windland
73-year-old Keenes resident, Ernest A. "Short" Windland died at 7:45 Tuesday morning, Feb. 15, 2005 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include two sons, Tom and Terry Windland both of Wayne City, one daughter, Gay Lynn "Doll" Bullard of Metropolis, IL; two brothers, Nelson Windland and Rev Otto Windland both of Fairfield, and six grandchildren.
Funeral services for Ernest A. Windland will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 18 the York Funeral Home in Wayne City. Burial at Richland Cemetery near Boyleston.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17 at York Funeral Home in Wayne City.
Dr. A. Paul Naney
86-year-old Flora resident, Dr. A. Paul Naney died at 12:37 p.m. Friday, Feb. 11th, 2005 at Good Samaritan Regional Heathcare Center, Mt. Vernon.
Survivors include two sons, Alan R. Naney of Bethesda, Missouri and Robert Naney of Winthrop, Washington, two grandchildren, and local special friends, Lora Delaney, Mart Markwell, Doug & Jan Phillips, and Dr. Fed Cycholl.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5th from 2-4 p.m. at the Flora Library. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.
The Frank & Bright Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Cecil Simpson
90 year old Cecil Simpson of Fairfield died at 1:40 Friday afternoon, Dec. 14, 2001 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17th at Lebanon Church. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery. Visitation from 6-8 Sunday evening, Dec. 16th at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Cecilia Holtkamp
96 year old Marietta, Georgia resident Cecilia Holtkamp died at 2 AM Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Hospice in Atlanta, GA.
Survivors include three daughters Ruth Munier of Scottsdale, Arizona, Marty Warkins of Fairfield, and Mary Conroy of Marietta, Georgia.
Ten Grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren also survive.
A funeral mass for Cecilia Holtkamp will be at 11:30 Monday morning at St. Mary's Church in Belleville, IL. Visitation will be held from 10 AM Monday until the time of service at the Rennert Funeral Home in Belleville.
Alvin Elliott
81 year old Alvin Elliott of White County died Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He was a farmer in the Burnt Prairie area and was a past member of the Moose Lodge in Grayville.
Survivors include one brother and sister-in-law Ivan and Betty Elliott of Burnt Prairie, one nephew James Elliott and his wife Kathy of Princeton, Indiana, one niece Barbara Hagler and her husband Louis of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and an aunt Addie Fitzgerald of Carmi.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.
John H. Thomas
81-year-old Cisne resident, John H. Thomas died at 10:50 Thursday morning, Dec. 13, 2001 at his home.
He was a retired driver for Period, Inc. of Henderson, Ky.
Survivofrs include his wife, Helen of Cisne, a son John W. Thomas of Cisne, and a sister, Mary Siegler of Eddyville, Ky.
Services for John H. Thomas will be 1:30 Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne with burial in the Cates Cemetery near Cisne.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.
Wayne Cross
67-year-old Rt. 1 Dahlgren resident, Wayne Cross died at 12:30 Thursday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2001 at his home.
Surviving are his wife, Estelle; 5 sons, Ray Cross and wife Cherri of Belle Rive, Albert Cross, Robert Cross and wife Christine, David Cross and wife Debbie, and Dennis Cross and wife Marsha all of Dahlgren; 2 daughters, Ms. Patricia "Pat" Green and Mrs. Peggy Vickers and husband Scott all of Dahlgren; 4 brothers, Steve Cross and wife Sheila of Little Rock, Arkansas, James Cross and wife Mary, Gabe Cross and wife Mary Ann all of Dahlgren, John Cross and wife Cathy of McLeansboro; 3 sisters, Mrs. Gayla Jo Tyne and Mrs. Dorothy Horton both of Streator, Il. and Mrs. Marilyn Karcher and husband Hank of Dahlgren; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Funeral services for Wayne Cross will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16th at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Burial in Middle Creek Cemetery. Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15th at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. Memorials may be made to the Middle Creek Cemetery Fund.
Harold W. Slunaker
68-year-old resident of Calhoun, Harold W. Slunaker died at 12:45 Thursday morning, Dec. 13, 2001 at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Among his survivors is his wife, Mildred, and a daughter, Dixie Lathrop of Calhoun.
Services for Harold W. Slunaker will be 10:30 Saturday, DEc. 15, at the Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem with burial in the Mount Hope Cemetery in rural Bonpas Township.
Visitation for Harold W. Slunaker will be from 6 til 8 Friday evening, Dec. 14, at the Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem.
James Michael Brunkow
48-year-old Rt. 1 Broughton resident, James Michael Brunkow died Wednsday, Dec. 12, 2001, at his home.
He had been a truck driver for Ryder Trucking Company in Evansville.
Survivors include his wife, Trevadell Brunkow, two sons, James Samuel and Zephram Kyle Brunkow of Broughton, a daughter, Aerial Star Brunkow of Broughton and several half-brothers and sisters.
A private memorial service and burial for James Michael Brunkow will be held at a later date with the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro in charge of all the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the VNA's Hospice Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.
James William Tyner
74-year-old Enfield resident, James William Tyner died Tuesday morning, Feb. 18, 2003 at the hospital in McLeansboro.
Survivors include two sons, James and Dana of Enfield; a daughter, Jan Valle of Robertsdale, Ind., two sisters, Connie Hogue of Enfield and Phyllis Dunn of Norris City. 7 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive.
Services for James William Tyner were at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at the Elledge Funeral home in Enfield with burial in the Enfield cemetery.
Visitation was from 6 til 8 Thursday evening, Feb. 20, at the Elledge Funeral Home in Enfield.
Julia Fleckenstein
90-year-old Dahlgren resident, Julia Fleckenstein died at 9:47 Tuesday morning, Feb. 18, 2003 at Countryside Manor in Mount Vernon. She was a retired cook.
Survivors include several nephews and one niece.
Graveside services for Julia Fleckenstein were at 10:30 Thursday morning, Feb. 20, at St. John's Cemetery in Dahlgren.
Visitation was from 9:30 Thursday until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.
