Tomislav “Tom” Borovic, formerly of Columbia, died July 23, 2013. He was the son of Mato and Ivanka (nee Dujmovic) Borovic. Mr. Borovic is survived by his wife, Diane (nee Voss) Borovic; children, Matthew and Jessica Borovic; and a brother, Marko Borovic; along with aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Anto Borovic. Visitation was at Ziegenhein Funeral Home in South County. Funeral was at St. Joseph Croatian Church in St. Louis. Mr. Borovic was buried at Resurrection Cemetery.
Marie Catherine Kaiser, nee Braun, 93, of Hecker, died July 21, 2013 in Columbia. She was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Hecker, the daughter of the late Henry and Bertha (nee Truttman) Braun. Mrs. Kaiser is survived by her children, Richard (Donna) Kaiser, Dorothy (Richard) Kohler, Alice (John) Kuehn, Rita (Ned) Randle, John (Vickie) Kaiser and Dennis (Rhonda) Kaiser; grandchildren, Randy (Angie) Kaiser, Christine Daley, Jeff (Karen) Kaiser, Ken (Tina) Valentine, Anne (Marc) Joergens, Mary Beth (Steve) Mertens, Beverly (Scott) Duensing, David (Jenny) Kuehn, William (Erin) Kuehn, Adam (Joyce) Randle, Allison (Mark) Ross, Kathryn Randle, Jennifer (Matt) Eckart, Michael (Carissa) Kaiser, Matthew (Jenny) Kaiser and Seth Kaiser; 24 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Braun; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Kaiser (who died in 1986); son-in-law, Ted Valentine; granddaughter. Kathy Baxmeyer; great-grandson, Kadin Baxmeyer; and brothers and sisters, Henry (Mary) Braun, Clarence (Verna) Braun, Helen (Rex) Rapp, Raymond Braun, Leo (Tillie) Braun and William (Lucille) Braun. Mrs. Kaiser attended St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hecker, where she was a member of the Altar Sodality. She enjoyed working on her family farm (milking, planting, cooking, sewing and quilting). Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral was at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hecker with Father Von Deeke officiating. Mrs. Kaiser was buried at the church’s cemetery. Dorothy C. Keim, nee Kalbfleisch, 85, of Millstadt died July 23, 2013. She was born Feb. 25, 1928, the daughter of the late J. Monroe and Elsie (nee Haas) Kalbfleisch. Dorothy married Walter C. Keim in 1948. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Keim is survived by her daughters, Charlene (Otto) Faulbaum of Millstadt and Charlotte (Doug) McDermand of Charleston; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Kevin) Hagarty, Rebecca Watson-Keiser (Troy Keiser), Kelly McDermand and Ryan McDermand; step-grandsons, James (Robyn) Faulbaum and Timothy Faulbaum; great-grandchildren, Alexandra Watson, Garrett Hagarty, Joseph Watson, Bridget Hagarty and Braylen McDermand; a brother, Monroe (Edna) Kalbfleisch; sister-in-law, Rosetta Reeves; and a brother-in-law, Ronald (Geraldine) Keim. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Kleinschmidt; and a sister-in-law, Bernice Fichter. Dorothy was a homemaker, talented seamstress, and proud "farm wife." With her husband, Walter, she tended their farm fields, livestock and vegetable garden, but always made time to help family and friends in need. Mrs. Keim attended Zion Evangelical Church in Millstadt and was a charter member of Millstadt Sister Cities. Visitation and funeral were at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt with Pastor David Krueger officiating. Mrs. Keim was buried at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt. Michael Ray Johnson, 52, of Waterloo, died July 28, 2013 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. He was born Jan. 21, 1961 in Centreville, the son of Jean (nee Fauerbach) Johnson and the late Donald R. Johnson. Besides his mother, Mr. Johnson is survived by his brother, Jeff Johnson; and a sister, Suzanne Johnson; along with aunts, uncles, nieces and a nephew. Mr. Johnson attended Christ UCC in Dupo and was a lab technician for Geotechnology. Visitation and funeral were at Dashner-Leesman Funeral Home in Dupo with Pastor Todd Mushaney officiating. Mr. Johnson was buried at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville.
Ed Keeven Sr., 86, of Moscow Mills, Mo., died July 27, 2013. He was the son of the late Henry B. and Mary Keeven. Mr. Keeven is survived by his wife, Vivienne (nee Strunk) Keeven; his children, Vivian (Wayne) Prinster, Barbara (James) Foster, Eddie (Kathy) Keeven, Jr., Judy (Steve) Schneider, Tom (Dana) Keeven, Marty (Pam) Keeven, Jeanne (Ed) Idziak and Jim (Kathy) Keeven; 23 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren; a sister, Florence (the late George) Koester; brothers, Alfred (the late Mary Ann) Keeven and Leo Keeven. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eleanor (Charlie) Ewald; and his brother, Paul (Julie) Keeven. Mr. Keeven was self-employed as a turfgrass producer. He was an icon in the turf Industry and a charter member of Turf Producers International. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former director at Mark Twain Bank, former chapter president of Ducks Unlimited and a World War II veteran. His favorite pass times were hunting and fishing, but his passions were truly God and his family. Visitation was at the Baue Funeral Home and Memorial Center in St. Charles, Mo. Funeral was at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, Mo. Mr. Keeven was buried at St. Charles Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be made to his church or to the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
Kenneth V. Diemert, 73, of Farmington, Mo., died July 12, 2013. He was born Sept. 8, 1939, in Harrisonville, the son of Emma Diemert and the late Armin Diemert. In addition to his mother, Mr. Diemert is survived by his wife, Mary (nee Mosier) Diemert ; children, Rick Diemert, Elise Brasidio and Michelle Black; stepchildren, Darla Stumpf, Darrell Ray (Liz) Penberthy and Dale Lee (Gerry) Penberthy; and grandchildren Conner Black and Mackenzie Stumpf; along with step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father, he was preceded in death by his wife Debra (nee Stumpf) Diemert. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral was at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo. Mr. Diemert was buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Madonnaville.
Lester W. Stueve, 87, of Columbia, died July 10, 2013, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Jackson County, the son of the late Henry and Goldia (nee Korando) Stueve. Lester married Edna (nee Garris) Poenitske in 2003. In addition to his wife, Mr. Stueve is survived by his children, William (Sandra) Stueve of Waterloo, Robert (Cindy) Stueve of Waterloo, James Stueve of Waterloo and Ruth Shull of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Portia) Stueve of Waterloo. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Rudelle (nee Runge) Stueve; a grandchild, Stacy Ann Stueve; and a sister, Dorothy Kilburn. Mr. Stueve served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Waterloo VFW and Columbia American Legion. Lester was retired from Metzger Equipment Co., in Waterloo, where he had been an owner and parts manager. He attended St. Paul”s Lutheran Church in Columbia, was active with the Columbia Senior Center and enjoyed playing cards with his friends. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral was at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Columbia with Pastor Steven Theiss officiating. Mr. Stueve was buried at the Evergreen Cemetery in Chester. Memorials may be made to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Building Fund or the Columbia Senior Center.
Karl Roy Reinhold, 47, of Belleville, died July 10, 2013, in Creve Coeur, Mo. He was born July 24, 1965, the son of Margaret Reinhold and Kenneth Reinhold. In addition to his parents, Mr. Reinhold is survived by a son, Nathaniel (Kelly) Reinhold; sisters Kelly (Jeff) Lance, Kim Bark and Karen (Rick) Rodenberg; a step-brother, Gerald (Aimee) Ewing; and a step-sister, Roberta (Ray) Rhea; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Clara Mae Reinhold. A private memorial will be held at a later date. Quernheim Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Dorothy E. Walker, 83, of Columbia died July 12, 2013 at de Greeff Hospice House, St. Louis. She was born January 15, 1930, in East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Edward and Gertrude (Fingerhut) Dorn. She married Raymond Walker in 1950 in Fairmont City. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Walker is survived by her daughter, Patresa (Albert Jr.) Kish of Columbia; granddaughters, Emily (Chet) Waver of New York, Courtney Kish of Philadelphia, Penn., and Rebecca Walker-May of Atlanta, Ga.; great-granddaughter, Rosie Rae Waver; brother, Henry (Theresa) Dorn of Collinsville; and sister, Viola Schubert of Edwardsville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Dianna Lynn May; and brothers, Edward and Ernest Dorn. Dorothy retired as a supervisor with General American Insurance Company. Private graveside services were at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to de Greeff Hospice House.
Delores Frierdich, nee Dannehold, 85 of Millstadt, died July 15, 2013, in Belleville. She was born April 15, 1928, in Belleville, the daughter of the late Herman and Viola (nee Strauss) Dannehold. Mrs. Frierdich married Eugene F. Frierdich in 1967. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother-in-law, Fred Frierdich; sister-in-law, Audrey Frierdich; and nephews Don (Mary) Frierdich and Bob (Mary) Frierdich; along with great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Clemmons Frierdich and Victor Frierdich; sisters-in-law, Florine Frierdich and Elaine Frierdich. Mrs. Frierdich attended St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt. She was employed for 27 years as an operator for Illinois Bell. Visitation was at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt. Funeral was at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt with Fr. Marvin Volk officiating. Mrs. Frierdich was buried at Mount Evergreen Cemetery in Millstadt. Memorials may be made to Hospice.
