Richard Branson, 73, of Fults, died Feb. 5, 2010 in St. Louis, Mo. He was born June 3, 1936 in Clayton, Mo., the son of the late Joseph and Catherine (nee Smith) Branson. Mr. Branson is survived by his wife, Vivian (nee Glenn) Branson; children Shelley (Phillip) Boland, Stacy (Rodney) Mueller and Rebecca (Bob) Frierdich; grandchildren Ronald (Rebecca) and Seth Mueller, Shasta Weihl, Zachary Koonce, Tanner and Parker Frierdich and Hannah Boland; great-granddaughter, Emma Mueller; siblings Clyde Branson, Donald (Phyllis) Branson, Sharon Mehrtens, Brenda (John) Bueschel and Gale Branson; and brother-in-law, Doyle Glenn; along with nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Jeanette Branson; a brother-in-law, Alvin Mehrtens Jr.; and brothers-in-law. Mr. Branson was a rancher, retired truck driver, auctioneer and real estate broker. Visitation is Sunday, Feb. 7, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Quernheim Funeral Home, and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 8. A funeral service will follow at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Neill officiating. Mr. Branson will be buried at the Monroe City Cemetery.
Irene M. Dannehold, nee Heiken, 81, of Waterloo, died Feb. 6, 2010 in Waterloo. She was born Oct. 8, 1928 in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Emil and Catherine (nee Stockel) Heiken. Mrs. Dannehold is survived by her husband, Harold Dannehold; and children Terry Dannehold of Middletown, N.J., and Sandra Dannehold of St. Louis, Mo.; along with sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Armin (Marcella) Heiken. Mrs. Dannehold was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Walter E. Parker, 78, of Swansea, formerly of New Athens, died Feb. 7, 2010 in Swansea. He was born Oct. 13, 1931, the son of the late Alphons J. and Clara (nee Kreher) Parker. Mr. Parker is survived by his brother, Virgil (Virginia) Parker of New Athens; nieces and nephews, Jeff (Teresa) Parker of Belleville, Janet (Robert) Bittle of New Athens, Carol Parker (fiancé Michael Herich) of Caseyville and Gary (Dawn) Parker of New Athens; great-nieces and great-nephews Eric (Erin), Ryan (fiancé Laura Benedick), Alicia, Valaurie, and Jacob Parker, Heather (Tim) Hill, Lyndsey, Brenden and Travis Bittle, Vivianne Herich and Ashley, Craig, Lauren and Drew Parker. He was preceded in death by his brothers Cyril Parker and John (Helen) Parker. Mr. Parker was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hecker. Eleanor R. “Jack” Moll, 92, of Red Bud (formerly of Evansville), died Feb. 8, 2010 in Red Bud. She was born April 1, 1917 in Modoc, the daughter of the late Robert and Emma (nee Bruns) Dorn. Mrs. Moll married Ralph J. Moll on Nov. 9, 1939. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Moll is survived by her daughters, Roberta (David ) Schilling of Red Bud and Leola (Christopher) Glatz of Houston, Tex.; sisters Geraldine Johnson of Chester, Doyne Dorn of San Francisco, Calif., and Adele Suit of Leonardtown, Md.; and a grandson, Adam Theobald of St. Peters, Mo. She was preceded in death by grandchildren Michael and Laura Schilling; and brothers John and Udell Dorn. Mrs. Moll worked at International Shoe Factory in Evansville. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church’s Altar Sodality, Evansville Senior Citizens and the American Legion Auxiliary. Visitation is Friday, Feb. 12 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Evansville. Aurelia R. Alberter-Eversmeyer (nee Mueth), 84, of Millstadt, died Feb. 10, 2010 in Belleville. She was born June 25, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (nee Becker) Mueth. Mrs. Alberter-Eversmeyer is survived by her daughter, Nancy Marlen; sons Allen (Jane ) Alberter and Gary Alberter; daughter-in-law, Marilyn Alberter; grandchildren Michael Marlen, Lori (Matt) Haag, Mandy (Mike) Capell, Blake Alberter, Brett Alberter, Jen Wyatt and Eric, Ryan, A.J. and Alex Alberter; great-grandchildren Andrew and Molly Haag, Claire and Cole Marlen, Lilly Grace, Lainey Mae Capell and Colton Alberter; sister, Luella (George) Toenjes Jr.; brothers Sylvestor “Tuffy” Mueth and Erwin “Tooti” Mueth; sister-in-law, Almira Mueth; step-children Glenda Lowell, Cindy (Butch) Bertlesman, Brianne (Chad) Ricks and Aaron (Lindsey) Eversmeyer; and step-great-grandchildren Yale Eversmeyer, Seith Wagner, Peyton Bertlesman and Gryfin Eversmeyer; along with nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Richard Alberter, whom she married May 21, 1946. He died in 1972. Five years later she married Carson “Corky” Eversmeyer, who passed away seven months later. She is also preceded in death by a son, Dennis “Bing” Alberter; son-in-law, Dennis “Doc” Marlen; granddaughter, Jodi Ann Alberter; great-granddaughter, Sadie Ann Haag; brothers Arthur, Henery, Herbert, Cletus, Emil and Raymond; a sister in infancy, Marcella. Aurelia and her husband, Richard, started Millstadt’s West End Tavern in 1954. After Richard’s death, she ran the tavern and the famous West End fish stand with help from her family. She retired in 1990, leaving her son Bing and his wife Marilyn to take over. Aurelia was a vice-president of the Illinois Retail Liquor Association and active in the Tavern Owners Association. She was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Sodality, and volunteered for church and school functions. She was also an active member American Legion Post 502 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 7980, where she received the 25-year appreciation award from the post in 1994. She also received the Outstanding Community Award from the VFW at the State Convention in Chicago in 1998. Aurelia was a charter member of Urusline Sisters of Belleville and Smithton Turner Auxiliary, was in the 50 and Over Club and was the first lady inducted into the Mon-Clair Hall of Fame. In addition, she received the Volunteer Service Award from the American Red Cross after serving for 38 years as blood bank chairman. Visitation is Friday, Feb. 12, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Strauss-Leesman Funeral Home in Millstadt. Funeral Mass is Sat. Feb 13, at 10 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church in Millstadt with Father Volk officiating. Burial will be in St. James Catholic Cemetery. Michael D. "Car" Toon Sr., 63 of Columbia, died Feb. 11, 2010 at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born Oct. 12, 1946, in Mayfield, Ky. He married Rebecca (Keller) Toon in 1976 in East St. Louis. In addition to his wife, Mr. Toon is survived by his sons Mike (Megan) Toon Jr., and James (Tammy) Toon of Columbia; mother and step-father, Ann and Bob Johnson of Columbia; grandchildren Kaylin and Adrianna Toon; four step-grandchildren; a sister, Connie (David) Sauerwein of Columbia; a brother James “Gary” (Jan) Toon of Columbia; brother-in-law, Mitch (Diane) Keller of Belleville; and sister-in-law, Carol (Greg) Catrambone of Harrah, Okla.; along with nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James M. Toon. Mr. Toon served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a member of Operating Engineers Local 520 and was a retired automobile salesman. He was a past-president of Ducks Unlimited. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, hunting and fishing. Lucille C. Glessner, nee Metzger, 90, of Waterloo, died Feb. 12, 2010 in Waterloo. She was born Sept. 5, 1919 in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Louis and Alice (nee Mentel) Metzger. Mrs. Glessner is survived by her children, Mary Waterman, Michael (Wanda) Glessner and James (Ursula) Glessner; grandchildren Steve Waterman, Laura (Chris) Hillbrand, Jeanna (Kent) Ruehter, Sarah (Matt) Ulrich, Christine (Brian) Bise, Robert (Kim) Glessner, Susan (Mark) Bonk, and Thomas and Joseph Glessner; great-grandsons Chance Hillbrand, Coy Ruether, Leo Hillbrand, Owen Ulrich, Brayden and Noah Bise, Alex Glessner and Lucas Bonk; and a sister-in-law, Cathleen Glessner; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Glessner; and great-grandson, Michael Bise. Mrs. Glessner was a homemaker who was an active member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she participated in the Mary and Martha Society and other church projects. She volunteered for the Red Cross Blood Bank for 50 years. Lucille also enjoyed quilting, playing the piano and organ, dancing, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Albert C. Heinrich, 96, of Corvallis, Ore., died February 14, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Corvallis following surgery for a broken hip. He was born on Feb. 2, 1914, in Columbia to the late Herman and Mary Heinrich. He married Mary Alice Morlan on May 26, 1958. In addition to his wife, Mr. Heinrich is survived by his children Hilda, Gordon and Steven. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma. Albert retired as a professor of anthropology from the University of Calgary in 1984 and moved to Corvallis. A memorial service was held at Fisher Funeral Home in Albany, Ore. Linda Darlene Byram (nee Strayhorn), 59, of Dupo, died Feb. 14, 2010 at her residence. She was born Aug. 17, 1950, the daughter of the late Elmo and Lahoma (nee Luter) Strayhorn. Mrs. Byram is survived by her husband, John “Jack” Byram Sr. of Dupo; son, John Byram Jr. of Alton; daughter, Darlene Dawn Schlemmer of Dupo; grandchildren John Byram III, Lani Schlemmer, Katrina Buram and Makayla Schlemmer; brothers Walter Daniel Strayhorn of Byrnesmill Mo., and James Rodney Strayhorn of Park Hills Mo.; and sister, Rhonda Elfrink of Dupo; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gary J. Suttner, 60, of Waterloo, died Feb. 14, 2010 in St. Louis. He was born Oct. 19, 1949 in E. St. Louis, the late Joseph and Emily (nee Kingdom) Suttner. Mr. Suttner is survived by his wife, Barbara (nee Britton) Suttner; children Sherri (Aaron) Voelker, Susie (Bill) Nagel; a granddaughter, Rylee Jane Nagel; and half-sister, Sandra (Dean) Dusenberry; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Suttner was retired from Anheuser-Busch in St. Louis. Visitation is Wednesday, Feb. 17, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Quernheim Funeral Home.
