Ida Heinemann, 90, of Red Bud, died Jan. 17, 2010 in Red Bud. She was born Jan. 28, 1919 to the late Sigmund and Clara (nee Rubach) Thies. She married Herbert Heinemann on April 8, 1945. He died in 1973. Mrs. Heinemann is survived by her children, Marie (Andre) Voges, Melvin (Tina) Heinemann and Delores (Glenn) Steibel; grandchildren Thomas Voges (friend Liz Bailey), Lisa (Steve) Jacobsen, Leila (Mark) Keiser, Bart (Suzy) Heinemann, Ted (Mandy) Heinemann, Tait Heinemann, Amanda (Robert) Schwab, Shannon (Lori) Steibel and Vicky (Steve) Cashwell; great-grandchildren Derek, Alexander, Megan, Joshua, Luke, David, Noah, Kayden, Emma, Kirsten, Cole, Hannah and Alexandra; and brother and sisters Selma Kueker, Mabel Schoenbeck, Ruth Koester, Harold (Lillian) Thies, Art (Gladys) Thies; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma (George) Neely; and brothers-in-law Edwin Koester and Orville Schoenbeck. Mrs. Heinemann was a homemaker, quilter and helped on the family farm. She also had worked at International Shoe in Chester. She was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, the Ladies Aid at Church, Senior Circle at Red Bud Regional Hospital and the Red Bud Senior Citizen Center in Red Bud. Visitation is Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. Funeral is Thursday, Jan 21. 11 a.m. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Evansville with Rev. Julie Christine Seibold (nee Oxmann), 39, of Red Bud, died Jan. 18, 2010 in Red Bud. She was born Sept. 26, 1970, the daughter of Glenda (Dave) Baker and Dennis Oxmann. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Seibold is survived by her husband, Christopher Seibold; their children; Stephanie and Jonathan Seibold; half-sister, Lori (Charles) Elgart; half-brothers Clint Baker and Bill (Kelly) Oxmann; and her grandmother, Hilda Baker; along with sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, William and Leona Roth, Conrad and Margaret Oxmann and Elmer Baker. Mrs. Seibold was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Renault. Margaret (nee Welsch) Kemner, 78, of Grover, Mo., died Jan. 18, 2010. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Donald Kemner; her children Becky (Joe) Bielicke, Jennifer (Kevin) Webber, Paul (Sonya) Kemner and Timothy Kemner; grandchildren Maggie Bielicke, Matthew Monroe, Ethan Webber, William and Kyliee Kemner and Lauren Kemner; and two nieces, Patti (Roscow) Bauer of Waterloo and Jane (Roscow) Smith of St. Louis. Dr. Lee Kolmer, 82, died Jan. 18, 2010 at Kavanagh Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, from congestive heart failure. Dr. Kolmer was born Jan. 4, 1928 in Waterloo the son of the late Carmelita and Arthur Kolmer. Dr. Kolmer was preceded in death by sisters Shirley Ann and Mary; and two infant brothers, James and John. He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Jean Kolmer, formerly of East St. Louis; siblings Dorothy Dussold of Union, Mo., Joe Kolmer of Columbus, Ohio and Elizabeth Kolmer of St. Louis, Mo.; children Diane (Bill Blum) Kolmer of West Des Moines, Iowa, Jim Kolmer of St. Paul, Minn., and John (Clarissa Baach) Kolmer of Peoria; and grandchildren Jefferson, Neil and Zhi Yu of Peoria. He grew up farming with his father in rural Waterloo before serving in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Italy and Yugoslavia. After the War, Mr. Kolmer enrolled at Southern Illinois University, where he completed a bachelor’s degree. He earned a master’s degree from Iowa State University in 1952. He then obtained his Ph.D. degree in Agricultural Economics in 1954 from Iowa State University. Mr. Kolmer taught at SIU from 1954-56 before joining the Iowa State Faculty in 1956 and became an administrator of the Cooperative Extension program in 1965. He was named Associate Dean of Agriculture and Director of Extension in 1971 at Oregon State University in Corvallis, Ore. Two years later he was named Dean of Agriculture at Iowa State University. Lee was recognized with many honors in his professional career, but the one he treasured the most was the Faculty Citation given to him by the Iowa State Alumni Association in 1997. He was acknowledged for expanding the horizons of all students and professionals in the College of Agriculture during his 14 year tenure as dean. He was instrumental in forming the nationally-known Leopold Center for Sustainable Agriculture. His travels on behalf of the university included Peru, China, Belgium, France, England, Spain, Morocco, Ghana, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Russia and Kenya. He left the Dean’s job in 1987 when he and his wife, Jean, moved to Washington, D.C. for two years with the U.S.D.A. He then returned to ISU as professor of economics until his retirement in 1992. Visitation was at Hamilton’s Funeral Home in West Des Plains, Iowa. Funeral was at St. Francis of Assisi in West Des Plains. Mr. Kolmer was buried at Glendale Cemetery. Kaitlyn J. Niermann, 18, of Red Bud, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010 in an automobile accident near Coulterville. She was born Dec. 11, 1991 in Red Bud, the daughter of Gerald “Bear” Niermann of Waterloo and Toni (nee Blackmore) Niermann of Red Bud. In addition to her parents, Miss Niemann is survived by a sister, Jessica Niermann (fiancé James) of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Travis Niermann of Red Bud; step-sister, Alex Feldker of Waterloo; nephew, Jonathan Workman; paternal grandparents, John and Connie Niermann of Red Bud; maternal grandparents Art Blackmore of Red Bud and Sandy (Bob) Madl of Red Bud; and aunts and uncles Debbie Godier of Prairie du Rocher, Debbie Keil of Arnold, Mo., Wendy Guebert of St. Louis, Mo., Art Blackmore of Georgetown, Tex., and Tammy Blackmore of Red Bud; along with cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her great-grandmother, Vera Rahn; and her uncle, Tim Godier. Miss Niermann was a senior at Red Bud High School and was taking nursing classes at Beck Vocational Center in rural Hecker. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud. Rhonda E. Zipfel, 57, of Red Bud, died Jan. 19, 2010 at her residence in Red Bud, surrounded by family and friends. She was born Aug. 30, 1952 in Paducah, Ky., the daughter of the late Wesley and Margaret (nee Burkalow) Reynolds. Mrs. Zippel is survived by her husband, Thomas Zipfel; children Nikki Nickens and Zachary (Jana) Zipfel; grandchildren Max Sallman (fiancé Elyse), Alex Nickens, Nicolas Nickens, Allie Zipfel and Kylie Zipfel; and a sister, Diane Meierkort. Rhonda was a member of Hope Christian Church in Columbia, was very artistic and loved to work on crafts and grow flowers. Visitation is Friday, Jan. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and from Sat. from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. A memorial service will take place Saturday, Jan. 23, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home with Pastor Darrell Jones officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Karen L. Reagan, nee Roider, 59, of Waterloo, died Jan. 20, 2010 in Waterloo. She was born May 19, 1950 in Red Bud, the daughter of Marcella Hobbs and the late Harold Roider. Mrs. Reagan is survived by her husband, William Reagan; children Michelle (Chris) Willenbrock and Scott Reagan (Dena Laird); a grandchild, Justin Willenbrock; and a brother, James Roider; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Brian Roider. Mrs. Reagan attended St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tipton and was a member of the St. Louis University Billiken Club.
Shirley Ann Satterfield, nee Tucker, 74, of Dupo, died Jan. 22, 2010 at her residence. She was born Nov. 25, 1935 to the late Andrew and Edith Mae (nee Parker) Jacob. Mrs. Satterfield is survived by her husband, Clyde F. Satterfield; children Tammy (Norman) Taylor, Terry (Kenny) Kollack, Tina (Wes) Eardley, Clyde (Jenni) Satterfield Jr., and Tracy (Tony) Bradshaw; grandchildren Rachel (Jason McMannis) Taylor, Megan (Jon Klevorn) Taylor, Brian (Tanya) Kollack, David Kollack, Alex Kollack, Aaron Kollack, Dan (Christina) Eardley, Derek Eardley, Rebecca Eardley, Bailey Bradshaw and Shea Bradshaw; and great-grandchildren Riley Taylor, Carter McMannis, Lilianna McMannis, Bryce Kollack and Brody Kollack; along with brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Tucker and Helen Shields. Mrs. Satterfield was the owner of Dupo Dairyland and attended the First Baptist Church in Dupo. She was a former members of the Prairie du Pont Ladies Auxiliary, Alley Oops Bowling League, Hilltoppers Swim Club and Red Hat Ladies Society in Texas. She enjoyed camping and traveling and spent 14 winters as a snow bird in southern Texas. Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 26 from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dupo. Funeral service will be Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the church with Reverend Roger Reid officiating. Mrs. Satterfield will be buried at Lake View Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. Niles Lowell Cooper, infant son of Kimberle and Jason Cooper, died shortly after birth on Jan. 22, 2010, at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur, Mo. He will be greatly missed by his loving parents; brother, Michael Roesch; and sister Lexi Cooper; along with grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and church friends. Glennon H. Sondag, 79, of Valmeyer, died Jan. 25, 2010, in St. Louis, Mo. He was born Jan. 19, 1931 in Valmeyer, the son of the late Armin C. and Zoe A. (nee Mentel) Sondag. Mr. Sondag is survived by his children, Doug (Rhonda) Sondag, Zoe Ann (Lyle) Schwarze, Patrick Sondag, Glenda (Steven) Sexauer and Barb (Kathryn Porterfield) Sondag; grandchildren Amber (Craig) Manville, Jennifer (fiancé Jeremy Eckenfels) Sondag, Ashley Sondag, Jonathan Schwarze, Allison Schwarze, Parker Sondag and Patrick Sondag Jr., Zeke Sexauer and August Sexauer; sisters Helen Sondag and Margie May; and brothers Ted (Pauline) Sondag and Joe (Evelyn) Sondag; along with nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 five years, Caryl Fay (nee Meyer) Sondag, who died earlier this year. Mr. Sondag was third generation lifetime farmer. He was a member of the Monroe County Farm Bureau and Valmeyer American Legion Post 901. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Valmeyer, where he served as a trustee for 20 years and the Knights of Columbus for 59 years.
