Eugene "Benny" Maurer, 84, of Waterloo, died Jan. 23, 2013 in Waterloo. He was born Nov. 26, 1928 in Waterloo, the son of the late Benedict and Clara (nee Einwich) Maurer. Mr. Maurer is survived by his wife, Bonnie (nee Buss) Maurer; children, Sally (David) Stellhorn and Steven (Rhonda) Maurer; son-in-law, Scott Paisley; grandchildren, Benjamin (Krista) Paisley, Jessica (Aaron) Zeller, Amy (Mike) Wolter, Adam (Kim) Stellhorn, Aaron (Anne) Stellhorn, Andrew Maurer and Rachel Maurer; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Doris (Gene) Stamm; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Judy Maurer and Gene and Darlene Buss. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sidne E. Paisley; grandson, Joshua Paisley; a brother, Robert Maurer; and a sister, Myrtle Ostendorf. Mr. Maurer was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was retired from Monsanto and Afton Chemical. There were no services. Quernheim Funeral Home handled the arrangements. Lonnie J. Gotto, 72, of rural Fults, died Jan. 25, 2013, at a St. Louis hospital from severe burns suffered in a welding accident. He was born March 9, 1940, in East St. Louis, the son of the late Leon and Fayola (nee Turley) Gotto. Mr. Gotto is survived by his wife, Mary Leah (nee Gidley) Gotto; children, Marlon (Jane) Gotto, Pierre (Barb) Gotto, Julia (Dan) Stampfl and Erin Gotto; grandchildren Austin Gotto, Andrew Gotto, Jessie Dill, Kailyn Gotto, Candice Stampfl and Samantha Stampfl; brothers Leslie (Pam) Gotto Sr., Lindell (Marcia) Gotto, David Gotto, Leon (Debbie) Gotto, Danny (Angie) Gotto and Wayne (Sharon) Gotto; a brother-in-law, James Gidley; and sisters-in-law, Dolores Gidley and Ruth Gidley; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Thomas Gidley. Mr. Gotto attended Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Renault. He was retired and had been employed at Brinkmann Farm Equipment, Heberer Equipment and Wm. Nobbe and Co. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Ray E. Hesterberg, 78, of Waterloo, died Jan. 25, 2013, in St. Louis. He was born Feb. 20, 1934, in Maeystown, the son of the late Raymond and Frieda (nee Juelfs) Hesterberg. Mr. Hesterberg is survived by his wife, Shirley (nee Kurtz) Hesterberg; children, Michael (Carolyn) Hesterberg, Brett (Barb) Hesterberg and Nancy (Chris) James; grandchildren, Chelsea Hesterberg and Aidan and Ryan James; sister Doris (Willard) Meister and Lil Hohnbaum; and sister-in-law, Laverne Hesterberg; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Vernon Hesterberg; and brother-in-law, Eugene "Hoagy" Hohnbaum. Mr. Hesterberg attended St. Paul UCC in Waterloo and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired from Gateway FS. Ray was a member of the Waterloo American Legion and the Waterloo Country Club. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. David L. Lovelace, of West Alton, Mo., died Jan. 25, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Annette (nee Wittenauer) Lovelace; children Kimberly, Matthew and Mark. Laurine Miller, nee Breidecker, 94, of Columbia, died Jan. 5, 2013, at Terrace On The Park Care Center in Mascoutah. She was born Oct. 28, 1918, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Thomas and Laura (nee Ritter) Breidecker. She married Charles Miller in 1943 in St. Louis. He died in 1974. Mrs. Miler is survived by cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister in infancy, Lesley Breidecker, who died in 1914. Mrs. Miller attended St. Paul UCC in Columbia. Laurine was a retired nurse at Curtis Wright Aircraft in St. Louis and was a 1942 graduate of the Missouri Baptist School of Nursing. She was a member of the St. Louis Order of the Eastern Star - Bailee Chapter 31, the Columbia Senior Citizens and the Columbia American Legion Auxiliary Post 581. Helen M. Pflasterer, nee Lenhardt, 94, of Waterloo, died Jan. 6, 2013, in Waterloo. She was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Albert and Louise (nee Sommer) Lenhardt. Mrs. Pflasterer is survived by her children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren: Barb (Carl) Braun, Dorothy (Ross) Mueller, Connie (Mike) Lambeck, Cheri (Chris) Sandheinrich, Chris (Whitney) Braun, Dan (Sandy) Mueller, Dawn (Jason) Goff, Conner, Cooper, Bailey, Drew, Abbey and Dustin; along with nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her step-father, Martin Kohlmeier; husband, Henry Pflasterer; brothers, Robert (Grace) and Willis "Dix" (Adeline) Lenhardt; and her sister-in-law, Helen (Frank) Fenaia. Mrs. Pflasterer was an avid card player who attended St. Paul UCC in Waterloo, where she was active in the quilters and the Women's Guild. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Loretta Burlison, nee Casey, 75, of Columbia, died Jan. 7, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis. She was born Sept. 27, 1937, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Leo and Josephine (nee Fagan) Casey. Mrs. Burlison is survived by her husband, Arthur Burlison of Columbia; a son, Michael (Patricia) Burlison of St. Louis; daughters, Joan (James) Wessel of Columbia, Teresa (Jon) Seibel of Columbia and Mary (Lisa Saffell) Burlison of St. Louis; a brother, Leo (Becky) Casey of Cape Girardeau; grandchildren, Matthew and Patty Burlison, Melissa (Mike) Kohlenberger and Andrew and Jacob Wessel; and great-grandchildren, Reeve and Maura Kohlenberger and Noah Jones. Harold J. Suedkamp, 79, of Columbia, died Jan., 8, 2013, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born March 22, 1933, in St. Louis, the son of the late Harry and Anna (nee Buschhenhenke) Suedkamp. Harold married LaVerne (nee Trampier) Suedkamp in 1958 in St. Louis. In addition to his wife, Mr. Suedkamp, is survived by his son, Mike (Nancy) Suedkamp of Columbia; sisters, Vernice Kanyuck of Belleville and Suzanne (Bob) Rosenberger of Pevely, Mo.; and a grandchild, Owen Suedkamp. Mr. Suedkamp attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia and was a member of the Columbia American Legion Post 581. Harold was a former Columbia alderman (Ward 3) and had retired from Chrysler Corp., in Fenton. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Dolores Mae Braun, nee Underwood, 83, of Red Bud, died Jan. 9, 2013, in St. Louis. She was born Nov. 19, 1929, in St. Louis, the daughter of the late Robert and Evelyn (nee Devine) Underwood. Mrs. Braun is survived by her children, Joseph F. (Sandra) Braun, Jr., Robert L. Braun (friend Debbie) and Randall A. (Laveta) Braun; a son-in-law, Richard Zeiger; grandchildren, John (Lisa) Braun, Katherine Braun, Pamela (Matthew) Mueller, Paula Berg, Albert (Gay) Braun, Ryan (Kaisey) Braun and Lisa Braun; great-grandchildren, Crystal Braun, Amber Zeiger; a brother, Edward (Shirley) Langhorst; sister, Angie (Tim) Reynolds; and a sister-in-law, Edna Guessfeld; along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Braun Sr.; daughter, Joyce A. Zeiger; and a sister, Audrey Scott. After retiring from Singer in Red Bud, Delores was a cook at Camp Wartburg. Joseph A. Harbaugh, 56, of New Athens, formerly of Hecker, died Jan. 12, 2013, at his home. He was born Dec. 16, 1956, in Red Bud, the son of Esther (nee Theobald) Harbaugh and the late Edward J. Harbaugh. Besides his mother, Mr. Harbaugh is survived by his son, Jake Harbaugh; and siblings Ken (Sandy) Harbaugh, Virginia "Ginger" Alexander, Jim Harbaugh, Cheryl Harbaugh, Dave Harbaugh and Mike (Krista) Harbaugh; along with aunts, niece, nephews and cousins. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Karen M. Harbaugh; and brother-in-law, Gary Alexander. Mr. Harbaugh was formerly employed at Mitsubishi Motors in Bloomington and attended St. Augustine Catholic Church in Hecker. He was an avid sportsman (It's a good fry") and lived his life by the teachings of Dr. Charles Stanley. Visitation and funeral were at Quernheim Funeral Home with Pastor Matt Friz officiating.
