79-year-old Geff resident, Thomas H. McDannel died at 2:33 Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2003 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. A veteran of WW II, he was retired from Airtex after more than 30 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Bryan of Champaign, a sister, Mary Carter of Geff; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services for Thomas H. McDannell were at 2:30 Sunday, March 30, at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Bestow Cemetery. Full military rites will be performed at the gravesite.
Visitation was 1:30 Sunday until the time of service at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Esther Marie Burbank
58-year-old Olney resident, Esther Marie Burbank died at 7:14 Monday morning, March 24, 2003 in Olney. She had been a clerk at the Olney Post Office for 29 years.
Survivors include her husband, Ed, a son, Greg of Fairfield; her father, Harry Smith of Olney, her mother, Earl Smith of Lawrenceville; brothers, Jim Smith of St. Jacob, Harry, John and Charles Smith of Bridgeport, and Joe Smith of Lawrenceville; three sisters, Ruth A. Allison of Robinson, Mary J. Brunson of Sumner, and Karen Westall of Lawrenceville; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Services for Esther Marie Burbank were at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Hom ein Olney with burial in the Chauncey Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6 til 8 Friday evening at the Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.
Rachel Ann VanHorn
18-year-old Rt. 2 Belle Rive resident, Rachel Ann VanHorn died at 12:15 Wednesday morning, March 26, 2003 in Four Mile Township near Keenes. She was a student.
Survivors include her father, Roger Allen VanHorn of Mt. Vernon, her mother, Donna Bartlett and friend Robert Kanauss of Belle Rive, and grandmothers, Geraldean Hutchraft of Maunie, and Christine VanHorn of Mount Vernon; a brother, Ian Wayne VanHorn of Belle Rive and one sister, Kerri Marie Brown of Detroit, Mich., and several aunts and uncles.

72-year-old Flatrock, IL resident, Sadie B. Lane died at 4 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2003 at her home.
Her survivors include her husband, Wayne Lane of Flatrock, and a sister, Bessie Wells of Fairfield; two daughters, Sherry Braithwaite of Astor, Fla., and ZKathryn Augsburger of Orange City, Fla.

Carson Glen Keen
62 year old Karnak, Il. resident, Carson Glen Keen, died at 2:15 p.m. Friday, August 8th, 2003 at Karnak, Il. as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was born in Golden Gate, and was a retired maintenance worker at the Great Oaks Christian Camp in Lacon, Il.
Surviving are a son, Carson Glen Keen, Jr. of Karnak, Il.; a sister, Beverly Staton of New Columbia, Il.; 1 grandchild and 3 nephews.
Graveside services were at 2 p.m. Monday, August 11th at Maple Hill Cemetery in Fairfield.
There was no visitation. Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield was in charge of the arrangements.
Elbert E. Lyke
83 year old Fairfield resident, Elbert E. Lyke, died at 5:35 p.m. Friday, August 8th, 2003 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He had worked in oilfield production, and was a World War II veteran.
Surviving are a son, Michael of Fairfield; 2 daughters, Sharon Grove of Fairfield and Patricia Tucker of Flora; a sister, Doris Mincy of Fairfield; 6 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date, with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery in New Harmony, Indiana.
Visitation was from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, August 10th at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield.

George "Jerry" Chadwell
63 year old Xenia resident, George "Jerry" Chadwell, died Friday evening, August 8th, 2003 at his home. He had owned the Xenia Cafe for 5 years with his wife, Linda, and also ran the concession stand at Sam Dale Lake for 3 years.
Surviving are his wife Linda; 3 brothers, Charles "Buddy" Johnson of Fredricktown, Missouri, Wendell Johnson of Arnold, Missouri and Henry Johnson of East Prarie, Missouri; 3 sisters, Edna Faye Powell of Sikeston, Missouri, Sarah Godwin of Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Becky Bodkin of Arnold, Missouri; children, Cynthia and Rex Brown and Frank Branom of Xenia, Robert and Kay Branom of Parma, Missouri, Renee Vasquez of Foley, Missouri, Thomas and Cindy Chadwell of St. Louis, and Michael and Valerie Chadwell of St. Charles, Missouri; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday at the Xenia United Methodist Chruch. Burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery at Xenia.
Visitation was from 9 a.m. Monday, August 11th until the time of service at the Xenia United Methodist Church.

70-year-old Fairfield resident, Glenn Dean Stopher died at 7:30 Wednesday morning, August 6, 2003 at his home. He had owned a service station.
Survivors include six sons, Dennis, Jeffery, Scott, Randy, Todd, and Michael Stopher; a brother, Kellcie Stopher of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Alice Postlewaite of Torrance, Calif.
The body has been cremated.
A service will be held later with the Johnson Funeral Home in charge of all the arrangements.
Donald Karcher
69-year-old Dahlgren resident, Donald Karcher died at 5:15 Tuesday evening, Aug. 5, 2003 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he had worked for twenty years at North American Car Company in Chicago Ridge, Il., and later worked for Dowzer Electrict Co. in Mount Vernon.
Survivors include a son, Michael Karcher of Dahlgren; a daughter, Linda Hill of Salem; five grandsons, two granddaughters, an aunt, Helen Stitch of Green ville, Il., brothers, Hank and Kenny Karcher of Dahlgrena nd a sister, Marilyn Davis of Dahlgren.
Funeral services for Donald Karcher were at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Johns Catholic Church in Dahlgren with burial in the church cemetery. Full military rites will be performed at the gravesite by the American Legion Post 106.
Visitation was from 5 until 8 Friday evening, August 8, at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m.
Chlorene E. Blades
93-year-old former Fairfield resident, Chlorene E. Blades of Odessa, Tx., died at 3:45 Monday afternoon, August 4, 2003 at Seabury Center in Odessa, TX. She taught school in a one room schoolhouse in Wayne County from 1930 until 1954, and moved to Nokomis, Fla. in 1957 when she taught the first grade until her retirement in 1970.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Johnson of Odessa, Tx., and Frances Miller of Nokomis, Fla.; two brothers, Leo Wilson of Bakersfield, Calif., and Joe Wilson of El Paso, Tx., four sisters, Claribel Smith of Fairfield, Marjorie Davis of Salem, Ky., Marie Wells of Sims, and Lucy Porter of Springfield; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
