The body was cremated.
An interment of ashes was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2003 at Maple Hill Cemetery in fairfield.
The Johnson Funeral Home of Fairfield was in charge of all the arrangements.
Garnet Steury
62-year-old Fairfield resident, Garnet Steury died at 11:04 Monday morning, August 4, 2003 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, Charles E. Steury of Fairfield; five sons, Gary of Bluford, Mark of Geff, Edgar, Earl and Karl Steury of Fairfield; a daughter, Tina Koker of Fairfield; eleven grandchildren; and two brothers, Duane Beaulieu of Olney and Delore Beaulieu of Missouri.
Funeral services for Garnet Steury were at 2 p.m. Thursday, August 7, at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was from 12:30 Thursday until the time of service at Nales Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Gene Shasteen
69-year-old Eldorado resident, Gene Shasteen died at 4:40 Tuesday morning, August 5, 2003 at Ridgway Manor in Ridgway, Illinois. A U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired general laborer.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Shasteen of Muddy, a daughter, Betty Gwaltney of Harrisburg; two grandchildren, Katelyn Ann Shasteen and Taylor Madison Gwaltney; brothers, Hillard, Cecil and Charles Shasteen of McLeansboro and Harley Shasteen of Golconda.
Services for Gene Shasteen were at 11 a.m. Thursday, August 7, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in Smith Cemetery near Dale.
Visitation was from 5 until 8 Wednesday evening, August 6, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Ivan Feller
86-year-old Fairfield resident, Ivan Feller died at 5 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2003 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. He had been a dairy farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Lula Jane Feller of Fairfield; a daughter, Shirley Conard; a brother, Charles Feller; a sister, Alta Manahan; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Ivan Feller were at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 7, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was from 11:30 Thursday morning until the time of service at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.
Tina Marie Knapp
14-year-old Grayville resident, Tina Marie Knapp died Saturday night, Aug. 2, 2003 as the result of a traffic crash. She was preparing to enter her sophomore year at Grayville High School.
Tina was a cheerleader, a member of the Grayville volleyball and softball teams, and was an avid horseback rider.
Survivors include her mother, Brenda Sue Knapp of Grayville, her father, Sheridan Earl Knapp of Mount Carmel; three sisters, Misty Taylor of Mount Carmel, Amanda Knapp of Grayville, and Billie Summers of Mount Carmel; her grandparents, Helen Knapp of Mount Carmel, Kenneth Bare of West Salem, and Betty Bare of West Salem.
Funeral services and visitation for Tina Marie Knapp were held at the Grayville High School Gymnasium.
Visitation was from 4 until 8 Tuesday evening, August 5. The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with Rev. Bill Minor officiating. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.

June Anderson Curry
June Anderson Curry of Salem, formerly of Wayne City, died Saturday morning, August 2nd, 2003 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Surviving are 2 sons, Walter and Eldon; 3 daughters, Sue, Earline and Karen; a brother, Dale Anderson of Wayne City; a sister-in-law, Knova Anderson of Keenes; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 1 p.m. Monday, August 4th at the Rogers Funeral Home in Salem.

70 year old Fairfield resident, Lois Totten Puntney, died at 11:25 p.m. Friday, August 1st, 2003 at her home.
Surviving are a son, Chester R. Totten of Fairfield; a brother, Dale Williams of Fairfield; and one grandchild.

93 year old Carmi resident, Billie B. Abbey, died Friday, August 1st, 2003 at White County Medical Center Hospital in Carmi.
Surviving are her husband, Robert; a brother, Kenneth Brewer of Owensboro, Kentucky; and a sister, Earlene Whitlow of Carmi.
Funeral services were at 4 p.m. Monday, August 4th at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Burial in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.

Ina O. Balding
81-year-old Albion resident, Ina O. Balding died at 7:17 Friday morning, August 1, 2003 at Wabash General Hospital in Mount Carmel. She had been a beautician for many nears and also an instructor at a local beauty school. She had also worked in a factory and had retired from teaching school in the Pleasant Hill District.
Survivors include her husband, Max; two sisters, Viola Little of Raytown, Mo., and Earline Brown of St. Louis; plus several nieces and nephews.
Services for Ina O. Balding were at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4, at the Ingraml Funeral Home in Albion with burial in Graceland Cemetery.
Visitation was from 5 until 8 Sunday evening, August 3, aty the Ingram Funeral Home in Albion.
Wanda D. Garrett
72 year old former Grayville resident, Wanda D. Garrett, died Friday, August 1st, 2003 at her home in Neoga, Il.
Survivors include several cousins, and three special caregivers, Mary Roberts of Grayville, Peggie Roedl of Vandalia and Karen Dawson of Detroit, MIchigan.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Monday, August 4th at the Cook-Sturm Funeral Chapel in Grayville. Burial in Maume Cemetery near Johnson, Indiana.

Barbara Jean Stewart
66-year-old Carmi resident, Barbara Jean Stewart died Thursday, July 31, 2003 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. She had been a waitress, seamstress and homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Estell Stewart of Carmi; a son, Clayton Dame of Hazelton, Indiana; a brother, Jimmy Newman of Grayville; a daughter, Deborah Carty of Albion; three step-children, Marvin Stewart of Westi, W. Va., Joyce Rohr of Buchannan, W. Va., and Marcia Stewart of Dayton, Ohio; two sisters, Gloria Emmons of Vincennes, Ind.,and Glenna Spruell of Grayville. Ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Barbara Jean Stewart were at 1:30 Sunday, August 3, at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi with burial in Kuykendall Cemetery near Carmi.
Visitation was from 5 until 7 Saturday evening, August 2, at the Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi.

Mary Elizabeth Hall
82-year-old Mary Elizabeth Hall of St. Augustine, Floridadied at 9:30 Wednesday morning, July 30, 2003 at Bayview Samantha Wilson Care Center in St. Augustine. She had taught all eight grades in country schools in Missouri.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hall, II of Scottsdale, Az., a daughter, Susan Neaville of St. Augustine, Fla. two sisters, Evelyn Kindle of Macon, Mo., and Diana Morrison of Lexington, Mo., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, along with eight step-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Hall were at 3 p.m. Saturday, August 2 at Hickory Hill Baptist Church near Broughton with burial in Hickory Hill Cemetery.
