Herbert L. Fieser, 79, of Columbia, died April 12, 2005, at his residence. He was born August 12, 1925, in Campbell, Mo., the son of the late Anthony and Sara Fieser nee Barns. He married the late Virginia Fieser nee Mead in 1968. He is survived by his children Louis Fieser of Twin Oaks, Mo., Sara Van Doren of Webster Grover, Mo., Pamela Bischoff of Crestwood, Mo., and Eric Fieser of Crestwood, Mo.; sisters Helen Anderson of St. Clair, Mo., Jean Hasty of St. Louis, Delores Rafferty of Brentwood, Mo., Agnes Johnson of California, Patricia Ackers of Aliston, Ala., and Barbara Brown of Afton, Mo.; brother James Fieser of Denver, Colo.; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Esther Catalano and Marie Lavar. Mr. Fieser was the retired owner/operator of Fieser Landscaping. He was a Merchant Marines veteran of World War II. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. Memorials may be made to the Immaculate Conception Education Fund.

Oliver Woodard, 86, of Columbia, died April 13, 2005, in Waterloo. He was born August 27, 1918, in Monette, Ariz., the son of the late Ivy and May Woodard nee Thorn. He married the late Lorraine L. Woodard nee Grob in 1946; she died in 1995. He is survived by his son Mark Woodard of Columbia, grandson Matthew (Christine) Woodard of Columbia, sister Lorraine Lampkin of Jonesboro, Ark., and other relatives and friends. Mr. Woodard was a laborer with the AFL-CIO Local #581 Laborer’s Union of St. Louis. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #581. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Michael Dixon officiating. He is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to Unity Hospice.

Leo Spytek, 85, of Columbia, died April 13, 2005, in Belleville. He was born October 15, 1919, in Royalton, the son of the late Jacob and Anna Spytek nee Bayer. He married Josephine Spytek nee Bagdonas in 1944. He is survived by his wife; daughters Sue Ann (Robert) Kay of Golden, Colo., and Norma (Sherrill) Puckett of Milford, Ohio; sons John (Marcia) Spytek of Waterloo and Joseph (Linda) Spytek of Arlington, Va.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister Helen Starasta of Royalton; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Adolph Spytek, Fred Spytek and Herman Spytek, sisters Mildred Olkoski and Julia Kaminski, and one grandchild. Mr. Spytek was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Fr. Carl Scherrer and Pastor Dennis Jones officiating. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Education Fund.

Charles William Lambert, 81, of Columbia, died April 18, 2005. He was born October 13, 1923, in St. Louis, the son of the late Charles W. and Alice Lambert nee Faber. He married Geneva Ruth Lambert nee Langenberg in 1950. He is survived by his wife; children Deborah Jean Daly of Richmond Heights, Mo., Peggy Ann (Wesley) Suzor of Affton, Mo., and Mary Beth (Michael) Jenniches of Alton; grandchildren Abby Lynn (Michael) Zoia, Andrew C. Guinn, Corey M. Jenniches and Claire Nicole Jenniches; sister Kay F. (Robert) Graham of Dittmer, Mo.; and brother-in-law Edwin L. Langenberg of Drake, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Ruth Lambert. Mr. Lambert was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. He retired from the U.S. Government as an aeronautical information specialist. He was a member of American Legion Post #581 in Columbia. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Church, Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Family Hospice Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Leona A. Tobin nee Vogt, 93, of Red Bud, died April 20, 2005, in Red Bud. She was born May 17, 1911, in Red Bud, the daughter of the late William and Catherine Vogt nee Eichenseer. She married the late James Tobin in 1937; he died in 1991. She is survived by her children Barb Tobin of Red Bud, Mary Koenitz of Red Bud, James “Bill” (Carol) Tobin of Evansville, and Kenny (Becky) Tobin of Red Bud; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and brother Edwin “Bucky” Vogt of Red Bud. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Stella Vogt. Mrs. Tobin was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Red Bud, Alter Sodality and St. Clement Hospital Auxiliary. She was a cook for Emily’s Four Flags for 25 years. Visitation was at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at St. John Catholic Church, Fr. Tom Stout officiating. She is buried at St. John Catholic Cemetery in Red Bud. Memorials may be made to masses at St. John Catholic Church.

Connor Hanes Breithaupt, 4 months, of Waterloo, died April 20, 2005, in Waterloo. He was born December 20, 2004, in St. Louis, the son of Jason and Lisa Breithaupt nee Hanes. He is survived by his parents; brothers Benjamin Breithaupt and Jackson Breithaupt; maternal grandparents Mike and Mary Jo Hanes of Carbondale; paternal grandparents Dennis and Georgia Breithaupt of New Athens, maternal great-grandmother Tille Hanes of Salem; paternal great-grandfather Oscar Breithaupt of New Athens; and aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, Pastor Mary Beth Hartenstein officiating. He is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Wings Hospice or Children’s Hospital Kidney Department.

Mildred A. Atchinson nee Sickmeyer, 76, of Waterloo, died April 21, 2005, in St. Louis. She was born August 7, 1928, in Campbell Hill, the son of the late Harry and Pauline Sickmeyer nee Huch. She was married to the late Bill D. Atchinson. She is survived by her daughters Virginia (Dennis) Brand of Waterloo and Michelle (Randy) Coats of Waterloo; grandchildren Denise (Brad) Buettner, Andy Brand, Jared Coats and Grant Coats; sister Opal (Leland) Luthy of Baldwin; brother Vernon (Esther) Sickmeyer of Steeleville; sister-in-law of Eunice Atchinson of Chester; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother. She was a member of St. Paul Church in Floraville and Queen City Eastern Star #697. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Pastor Matt Friz officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Paul Church of Floraville or the Alzheimer’s Unit of the Monroe County Care and Rehab Center.

Corley Ann Clark, 1 year and 11 months, of Tyler, Tex., died April 22, 2005, in Tyler. She was born May 25, 2003, in Tyler, the daughter of Drs. Carey and Karen Clark nee Mechler. She is survived by her parents; brothers Carey A. Clark IV and Cameron Lee Clark both of Tyler; maternal grandparents Cathy Mechler of Waterloo; Buddy and Carolyn Clark of Roswell, Ga.; aunts and uncles Kathy and Louis Cahill of Atlanta, Ga., Kevin Mechler of Carbondale, Keith and Carol Mechler of Troy, and Dr. Kurt and Susan Mechler of Lovedale, Ohio; and cousins Katie Mechler, Nick Mechler, Mason Mechler, Dane Mechler and Carrie Hilling. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather Don Mechler. Corley was diagnosed with Hennekam Syndrome, a rare and terminal genetic condition. She spent most of her life in hospitals including Trinity Mother Frances Hospital, Dallas Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Boston and, most recently, the Continued Care Unit at Trinity Mother Frances Hospital. She enjoyed playing music on her drums and xylophone and watching Elmo, Bear in the Big Blue House and Barney. Visitation and a prayer service were at Lloyd James Funeral Home in Tyler. Memorials may be made to Hospitality Homes of Boston.

Janice J. Byrd nee White, 64, of Waterloo, died April 23, 2005, in Waterloo. She was born March 27, 1941, in Tuckerman, Ark., the daughter of the late Bernard and Tressie White nee Tharp. She is survived by her husband Marion L. Byrd of Waterloo; children Timothy Byrd of Waterloo, Argie (Terry) Moll of Waterloo, Sabrina Larson of Collinsville, and Karl Byrd of Waterloo; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Leonard (Rita) White of Granite City, Jerry (Faye) White of Granite City, and Gary White of Clarkton, Mo.; brother-in-law William McFarlin of Michigan; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters. Mrs. Byrd was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waterloo. A memorial service was held at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Her remains were donated to St. Louis University School of Medicine per her request. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southern Illinois, of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Dorothy A. Carle nee Lemen, 94, of Columbia, died April 23, 2005, in Town & Country, Mo. She was born January 2, 1911, the daughter of the late James and Margaret Lemen nee Buettner. She married the late John Carle in 1927; he died in 1979. She is survived by her sons John J. (Linda) Carle of Columbia and Arthur G. (JoAnn) Carle of St. Louis; daughter Margaret (Ron) Wallace of Belleville; grandchildren Michelle (Mike) Luhr, Steven Wallace, Kevin (Peggy) Carle, Carole (Delbert) Paris, Linda (Jeff) Buss, Rita Wallace, John J. Carle Jr., Elizabeth Wallace and Michael (Julie) Carle; 15 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Louis (Marjorie) Carle, great-granddaughter Amy Buss, brothers Sylvester Lemen and Harvey Lemen, and a sister in infancy. Mrs. Carle was a member of Columbia Senior Citizens, Jefferson County VFW Auxiliary, and was a Jefferson Barracks VA Hospital volunteer. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, William Groennert and Fr. Carl Scherrer officiating. She is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, Immaculate Conception Catholic Church building fund, or Christ Community Church building fund.
