Earl R. Henerfauth Sr., 62, of Prairie du Rocher, died October 19, 2004, in St. Louis. Mr. Henerfauth was married to the late Georgiann Henerfauth nee Ballenot. He was born March 22, 1942, in Maeystown, the son of the late Roland and Elsie Henerfauth nee Schultheis. He is survived by his children Cindy (Curtis) Kohler of Gibraltar, Mich., Missy (Jim) Doyle of Prairie du Rocher, Ray (Julie) Henerfauth of Fults, and Robert Henerfauth of Fults; grandchildren Kayla Kohler, Nick Kohler, Farrett Doyle, Adam Doyle and Logan Henerfauth; sisters Thelma (Charles) Stewart of O’Fallon, Linda (Frank) Raray of O’Fallon, Judy (Joe) Heck of Waterloo, Jean (Tim) Sullivan of Lindenhurst, Norma (Chris) Farrell of Elmhurst, and Ida Bassett of Lockport; brothers Louis (Charlotte Henerfauth of Fults and Robert (Ardis) Henerfauth of Prairie du Rocher; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and an infant brother. Mr. Henerfauth was a retired farmer and was a member of the American Legion in Renault. Marie B. Wetzel nee Herbst, 86, of Waterloo, died October 19, 2004, in Waterloo. Mrs. Wetzel was married to the late Walter J. Wetzel Sr. She was born June 22, 1918, in Valmeyer, the daughter of the late Valentine and Augusta Herbst nee Garleb. She is survived by her children Arline (David) Cadwell of Chattanooga, Tenn., Walter J. (Patricia) Wetzel Jr. of Waterloo, David (Rita) Wetzel of Waterloo, and Kenneth E. Wetzel of Waterloo; grandchildren Carl Cadwell and Christin Cadwell of Chattanooga, Julie (Brian) Branson of Valmeyer, Ronald (Maria) Wetzel of Chicago, Cari Wetzel of Virginia Beach, Va., and Leah Wetzel of Waterloo; brother John (Mava) Herbst of Mahomet; sister-in-law Viola Wetzel of Columbia; and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Mrs. Wetzel was a member of Concord Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. She was a lifetime member of the Illinois Association for Home and Community Education, a past member of the Waterloo PTA, and avid spelling bee competitor, and a 1938 winner of a trip to 4-H Club Congress in Chicago. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at Concord Presbyterian Church, Pastor Will Hesterberg officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Marie Wienhoff nee Wink, 97, of Waterloo, died October 22, 2004, in Waterloo. Mrs. Wienhoff was married to the late Lawrence A. Wienhoff. She was born September 28, 1907, in Columbia, the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Marie Wink nee Ferkel. She is survived by her daughter Doris Matzenbacher of Waterloo; grandchildren Terry (Karen) Matzenbacher of Waterloo, and Lynn (David) Frierdich of Kirkwood, Mo.; great-grandchildren Matthew, Emily, Alexis and David; and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Hulda Schrader, and brothers Art Wink, Ervin Wink and Carl Wink. Mrs. Wienhoff was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, and the Monroe County Home Extension. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Dr. Kevin Brown officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Beulah Huntington Carr, 96, formerly of Kansas City Kansas, died October 24, 2004, in Hecker. She is survived by daughter Wylma Wachtel of Hecker; sons Robert Huntington of Indian Mountain, Col., Body Huntington of Kansas City, Kan., and Darrell Huntington of Lebanon, Mo.; and more than 250 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Carr was a member of CrossRoads Church in Kansas City. She was a nurse aid for St. Margaret’s Hospital and was active with Cancer Action and the City Mission. Visitation was at Maple Hill Funeral Home in Kansas. She is buried at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
Norine R. Limbach nee Machenheimer, 75, of Waterloo, died October 27, 2004, in St. Louis. Mrs. Limbach was married to the late Nelson Limbach; he preceded her in death in 1997. She was born December 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Ervin and Hilda Machenheimer nee Tongay. She is survived by her daughter Melissa Limbach of Waterloo; son Robert (Deborah) Helbig of St. Louis; and grandchildren Chris Helbig and Matt Helbig of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. She was a member of the Waterloo VFW Ladies Auxiliary. A private service was held at DeFabio Funeral Home. She is buried at Valhalla Gardens of Memories in Belleville. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Research Wellness Foundation or the Diabetes Wellness Network.
Richard E. Weaver, 75, of the Waterloo/Valmeyer area, died October 28, 2004, in Waterloo. Mr. Weaver was married to Lucy Weaver; she survives him. He was born March 25, 1929, in Stotts City, Mo., the son of the late Fred and Lou Weaver nee Garoutte. He is survived by his wife; children Gary Weaver, Brenda Head, Patty Massie, Judy Scriggs, Jackie Weaver and Connie Jones; 15 grandchildren, special great-grandson Josh Peppers; seven great-grandchildren; a brother; two sisters; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters and brothers. Mr. Weaver was retired from the U.S. Air Force and Union Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Maeystown Sportsman’s Club and Valmeyer American Legion. There was no visitation. There was a memorial service at First Baptist Church in Valmeyer. Fr. John A. Weissler OMI, 92, of Belleville, formerly of Columbia, died September 29, 2004, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. He was born September 3, 1912, in Columbia, the son of the late John and Lena Weissler nee Wenkel. He is survived by his sister Sr. Mary Joan Weissler of Ruma; nephews David (Kelcey) Whitman of Carmel, Ind., Robert (Deborah) Whitman of Carmel, Ind., and Mark (Susan) Whitman of Cincinnati, Ohio; and niece Joan (Ed) Hampton of Mehlville, Mo. He was preceded in death by brother George Weissler, sisters Amanda Kofron and Lena Whitman, and nephew Peter Whitman. Fr. John attended Immaculate Conception School in Columbia and St. Henry’s Seminary in Belleville. He joined the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, beginning his career in Mission, Texas, in 1938. He studied theology at De Mazenod Scholasticate in San Antonio and was ordained a priest by Bishop Althoff on June 5, 1943, in Belleville. His first assignment was in Carthage, Mo., where he opened the minor seminary Our Lady of the Ozark. He established the Oblate Press, by which he published Roses and Gold, and served as pastor of St. Ann’s in Carthage for 30 years, until he retired in 1985. Throughout his life, Fr. John was a strong backer of catholic schools. He said his first mass at Immaculate Conception Church. His visitation, funeral mass and burial were at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to Missionary Oblates Seminary Fund.
Laurence A. Hohnbaum, 77, of Waterloo, died September 27, 2004, in Red Bud. He was married to Alberta Huhnbaum nee Fromme. Mr. Hohnbaum was born August 27, 1927, in Wartburg, the son of the late Arthur and Eleanora Hohnbaum nee Bode. He is survived by his wife; son Larry (Cheryl) Hohnbaum, of Waterloo’ grandchildren Jeffrey (Nicole) Hohnbaum and Daniel Hohnbaum; great-granddaughters Erin Hohnbaum and Sierra Hohnbaum; brothers Eugene (Lillian) Hohnbaum and Ray Hohnbaum; mother-in-law Alice Fromme; niece Dr. Lolli (Kevin) Yaeger; and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Joseph Hohnbaum. Mr. Hohnbaum was a former member of the Valmeyer Fire Department. John M. Mroz Jr., 68, of Waterloo, died September 27, 2004, in Red Bud. He was married to Gladys M. Mroz nee Morton. Mr. Mroz was born June 24, 1936, in East St. Louis, the son of the late John Sr. and Evelyn R. Mroz nee Hunt. He is survived by his wife; children Michael Mroz, of Alton, Linda Novack, of Waterloo, Flody (Paula) Engel, of Chester, and Kathy (David “Fritz”) Engel-Edwards, of Rockwood; eight grandchildren; seven grandchildren; brother Gene Mroz, of Waterloo; and nieces and nephews. Anthony W. Sellers, 49, of Columbia, died September 25, 2004, at his residence. He was born February 8, 1955, in Red Bud, the son of Rose Sellers, of Columbia, and the late Arley Sellers.
