Earl H. “Buck” Roy, 61, of Valmeyer, died September 23, 2004, in Belleville. He was married to Carol Roy nee Wuertz. Mr. Roy was born October 22, 1942, in Maeystown, the son of the late Leonard and Eunice M. Roy nee Nichols. He is survived by his wife; daughter Beth (Tom) Andres, of Valmeyer; grandchildren Luke Andres and Sara Andres, of Valmeyer; sister Mary (Larry) Mehrtens; brothers Shelt (Nancy) Roy, of Waterloo, Leonard Jr. (LouAnne Roy), of Waterloo, Lonnie Roy, of Fults, and Cleo (Vanessa) Roy, of Waterloo; and aunts, uncles, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Roy was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Valmeyer. He was employed as a carpenter at CS 2000 in Fairview Heights and was a member of Carpenter’s Union 2119. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. His funeral mass was at St. Mary’s Church, Fr. John Ssebitosi officiating. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to the Valmeyer Music Department or St. Mary’s Educational Fund.
Harold “Sonny” Stumpf, 73, of Columbia, died August 31, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. He was born April 30, 1931, the son of the late Alfred and Ruth Stumpf nee Offermann. He is survived by her brothers Robert Stumpf of Millstadt, and Dale (Carol) Stumpf of Columbia; sister JoAnn Stumpf Riebeling of Columbia; eight nieces and nephews; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews; one great-great nephew; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, Pastor Kim Kelly officiating. She is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia. Marie M. “Aunt Marie” McMahon, 91, of Chesterfield, Mo., died August 31, 2004, in Chesterfield. She was born January 22, 1913, the daughter of the late Sodeph P. and Loretta McMahon nee Schager. She is survived by her nephew Terry (Char Lynn) McMahon of Chesterfield, and great-nephew Dustin (Andrea) McMahon, of St. Louis. She was preceded in death by her parents, siste Loretta McMahon and brother (Joseph T. (Estelle) McMahon nee Rodenhauser. She was retired from Citicorp and volunteered for 15 years at Missouri Baptist Medical Center. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, Deacon Doug Boyer officiating. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.
Oliver C. Hoffmann, 81, of Columbia, died August 27, 2004, in Columbia. He was married to Leona H. Hoffmann nee Neubarth; she survives him. Mr. Hoffmann was born January 14, 1923, in Maeystown, the son of the late Alvin F. and Leona L. Hoffmann nee Grabe. He is survived by his wife, son James O. (Jan) Hoffmann of Columbia; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; stepson Robert E. (Patricia) Stumpf of Columbia; stepdaughter Judith (Larry) Sifford of Reed Springs, Mo.; seven step-grandchildren; 10 great-stepgrandchildren; and brother Vernon (Marion) Hoffmann of Belleville. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Melvin (Wilma) Hoffmann. Mr. Hoffmann was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. He was an Air Force veteran of World War II, a member of the Columbia American Legion, and a scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop #319. Thomas W. Kelly, 74, died August 19, 2004. He was married to Marlene Kelly nee Pratten; she survives him. Mr. Kelly was born February 8, 1930. He is survived by his wife; daughter Kim Kelly, pastor at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, sons Kevin (Mary) Kelly and Tim (Francie) Kelly; grandchildren Chris, Erin, Jessica, Ryan and Megan Kelly; and a dear brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend. Mr. Kelly was retired from Emery Worldwide, where he was a district sales manager. He was president of Indian Hills AARP and vice-president of the Affton Historical Society. Visitation was at Ziegenhein & Sons Funeral Home in St. Louis. His funeral services were at Eden United Church of Christ. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Kenneth Gene Little, 72, of Branson, Mo., formerly of Columbia, died August 16, 2004, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Mo. He married Judith L. Little nee Kunz in 1991; she survives him. Mr. Little was born December 22, 1931, in St. Louis, the son of the late Kenneth L. and Edith Little nee Meyer. He is survived by his wife, daughters Annette Kinealy of St. Louis and Michelle (Craig) Hiser of Columbia; grandchildren Nicholas, Brianna, Logan, Jordan and Peyton; step-daughters Angie (Scott) Davis of St. Charles and Denise Bernacchi of LaPorte, Ind.; step-grandchildren Shannon, Austin, Amanda and Savannah; and a beloved brother-in-law and uncle. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Anna M. Little nee Stroh, brothers Melvin Little and Dale Little, and sisters Janice Boyster and Lucille Little. Mr. Little was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. He retired from Boeing after 35 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #6865 in Coulterville, and was a past member of the board of directors of the Columbia Gymnastic Association. He was a veteran of the Army and the Korean War. Delores M. Schreder nee Bertram, of Waterloo, died August 15, 2004. Mrs. Schreder was married to Michael H. Schreder; he survives her. She was born January 8, 1935, in Waterloo, the daughter of the late Arthur J. and Pauline Bertram nee Meier. She is survived by her husband, children Kathy (Ronald) Roever, of Waterloo, Connie (Jim) Pearson, of Portage, Mich., Carol (David) Roever, of Waterloo, Larry (Nancy) Schreder, of Waterloo, David “Homer” (Cathy) Schreder, of Waterloo, Donna (Mark) Scheffert, of Red Bud, Mary (Steve) Wheat, of Waterloo, and Patty (Barry) Feldmeier, of Waterloo; and grandchildren Brent Roever, Michelle Roever, Anne Roever, Jared Roever, Christopher Heimrich, Collin Roever, Craig Roever, Curtis Roever, Ashley Scarborough, Aubree Schreder, Amanda Schreder, Michael Schrader, Alycia Schreder, Carl Scheffert, Alex Scheffert, Zachary Wheat, Avery Wheat, Noah Feldmeier and Nathan Feldmeier. Diane Susan Raphael nee Mayer, of Cahokia, died August 14, 2004, at her residence. She was born March 23, 1955, the daughter of Donald (Mary Ellen) Mayer, of Columbia, and the late Virginia Lee Mayer nee Enteman. She is survived by her father and step-mother, brothers Michael Mayer, of St. Louis, Todd (Sherry) Mayer, of Columbia, and David Mayer, of Evansville; step-brother John (Scharmayne) Lanterman, of Dupo, step-sister Leslie (Paul) Russell, of St. Louis; and aunts, uncles, relatives and friends. Ms. Raphael served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during Desert Storm, reaching the rank of sergeant. She was a security guard for Aetna Financial Services in St. Louis.
Pamela A. Roesemeier nee Aubuchon, died August 13, 2004. She was married to Richard. O. Roesemeier Sr. Mrs. Roesemeier was the mother of Richard O. Roesemeier Jr. and Jennifer L. Roesemeier; the sister of Bob Aubuchon, Mike Abubchon and Mary (Gary) Anterhuas; sister-in-law of Nick Paulter and Tom Paulter; and aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend of many. Viola A. Avellone nee Zitt, 82, of Dupo, died August 11, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. She was married to Joseph Avellone: he preceded her in death in 1977. She was born June 20 1922, the daughter of the late Albert and Bertha Zitt nee Kaempfe. He is survived by his sons Randy (Terry) Hankins) Avellone, of Dupo, and Joe (Shirley) Avellone, of Belleville; daughter Terry Cissell, of Katy, Tex.; grandchildren Joey Avellone, Becky (Joe) Judy, Sara Cissell, Bobby Cissell, Michael Cissell’ great-grandchild Jada Judy; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gary Avellone, brother Albert Zitt Jr., and Leona Stechmesser. She was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, and is remembered for being a loving mother and grandmother.
