Teresa G. Moeser nee Garrish, 47, of Valmeyer, died Sept. 7, 2008, in Red Bud. She was born Sept. 28, 1960, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of Rosa Lee Garrish and the late David Garrish. She was married to Donald K. Moeser Jr. Mrs. Moser is survived by her mother; husband; children Krista (fiance Billy Skinner) Hall, David (Fiancee Terri Barrett) Hall, Katie Hall, Brittany Moser and Jillian Moser; grandchildren Michael Gage Gribbler, Riley Dakota Hall, Daryan Barret and Erin Barret, as well as twins on the way; sisters Shirley (Robert) Lund and Patty (Blaine) Brown; along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father. Mrs. Moser was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. She is remembered for her love of all God's children who spent her many years of recovery reaching out to help others along their journeys. Alexander Paul Starbuck, 22, of Waterloo, died Sept. 7, 2008, in Collinsville. He was born Feb. 23, 1986, in St. Louis, the son of Alan and Susan Starbuck of Waterloo. Mr. Starbuck is survived by his brother Ryan Starbuck; grandparents Mary Starbuck of St. Louis, and Lawrence and Georgia Wynn of Cahokia; and special friend Jennifer Miller of Waterloo; along with aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Fred Starbuck. Mr. Starbuck was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, ACE Car Club and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral service was at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Pastor Tony Troup officiating. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to the Department of Pediatrics at Washington University in St. Louis.
Sylvester Kohlmeier, 91, of Waterloo, died Sunday, Sept. 14, 2008. He was born July 19, 1917, in Waterloo, the son of the late Theodore and Sophia Kohlmeier, nee Hohnbaum. Mr. Kohlmeier is survived by his wife, Clara Kohlmeier, nee Hoffmann; a son, Dr. Wayne Kohlmeier; grandchildren Amy Kohlmeier, Sarah (Tom) Roehm, Andrew Kohlmeier and Elizabeth Kohlmeier; a great-grandson, Alex Roehm; a brother, Wilbert Kohlmeier; a sister, Audrey Hoffmann; sister-in-law, Lillian Kohlmeier and a brother-in-law, Lewis Lich. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lorena Lich; and brothers Fremond and Raymond Kohlmeier. He was the retired former part-owner of Homeko Ready-Mix. Mr. Kohlmeier was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wartburg and Waterloo VFW Metzger-Crook Post 6504. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. A funeral was at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Wartburg, the Rev. Stuart Rethwisch officiating. Burial was at the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the church.
Earleen Cobb, 60, of Topeka, Kan., died Aug. 10, 2008, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka. Local relatives include Lee Cobb of Belleville. Mrs. Cobb was cremated and there were no services. Newcomer Family Funeral Home in Topeka handled the arrangements.
Loretta Mary Schmidt, 88, of Red Bud, died Aug. 12, 2008, at the Red Bud Nursing Home. She was born Oct. 11, 1919 in Hecker, the daughter of the late William and Eleanora (nee Schilling) Braun. She married Orville John Schmidt in 1939 in Hecker. He died in 1984. Mrs. Schmidt worked as the cafeteria manager at St. Clement Hospital in Red Bud for 28 years. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Red Bud, the Altar Sodality and the Ladies Home Extension of Randolph County. Survivors include children Joyce (Robert) Dannenbrink of Red Bud, Orville (Bernice) Schmidt Jr. of Prairie du Rocher, Jane (Henry) Haas of Red Bud and Judy (Edward) Kohlberg of Florrisant, Mo.; a sister, Mary (Milton) Lauer of New Baden; brothers Edwin (Irma) Braun of Red Bud and Joseph (Leona) Braun of Freeburg; a sister-in-law, Ruth Braun of St. Charles, Mo.; seven grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 6 step-great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Schmidt was preceded in death by a grandchild, Lynn Dannenbrink; sisters Hildegard (Kenneth) Cook and Eleanora Braun; and brothers Herman, Albert, Peter and Alexander Braun. Visitation was at Welge-Pechacek Funeral Home in Red Bud. Funeral was at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Red Bud with Father Tom Stout officiating. She was buried at the church’s cemetery. Raoul Fischer, 72, of Waterloo, died Aug. 13, 2008, in Waterloo. He was born Feb. 11, 1936, in East St. Louis, the son of the late Raymond G. and Dorothy L. Fischer nee Gummersheimer. He was married to the late Jacqueline E. Fischer nee Schaefer. Mr. Fischer is survived by his son R. Kent Fischer of Waterloo; grandchildren Stephanie Fischer and Samuel K. Dunn; along with aunts and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and daughter Denise Dunn. Mr. Fischer was a member of Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover. He was retired from Gateway FS. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. The funeral was at Zoar United Church of Christ in New Hanover with C. Dwayne Dollgener officiating. William Wortmann, 59, of Fults, died Aug. 17, 2008, in Fults. He was born July 10, 1949, in Red Bud, the son of the late Agnes Wortmann nee Schmitz Fults and the late Melvin G. Wortmann. Mr. Wortmann is survived by his mother, son Craig Wortmann, and sister Bonnie (James) Nobbe of Waterloo; along with aunts, a niece and nephew, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Wortmann was a member of Maeystown Sportsman's Club and FFA Alumni. Visitation and funeral were at Quernheim Funeral Home, with Fr. Roger Karban officiating. He was buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Unity Hospice.
Michael Biffar, 48, of Waterloo, died Aug. 18, 2008, in Red Bud. He was born Oct. 9, 1959 in Red Bud, the son of Eugene and JoAnne (nee Carroll) Biffar of Waterloo. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Rita Biffar nee Mosbacher; loyal dogs Dolly, Pepper and Spitfire; a brother, Tom Biffar of Burksville; and a sister, Mary Biffar of Waterloo; in-laws Curtis and Mary Lou Mosbacher of Prairie du Rocher; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and cousins. Mr. Biffar was preceded in death by his grandparents; a nephew, Adam Mosbacher; and faithful dogs P.J., Poochie and Mary Catherene. Mr. Biffar owned Precision Automotive in Waterloo, was active in the Waterloo Chamber of Commerce and was an associate director of the Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation. His loved his dogs and hunting. He was also active in the Waterloo City Council and the ASP of Missouri. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral was at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Renault, Father Roger Karban Pastor Tom Jones officiating. He was buried at St. John Cemetery overlooking Fults.
Mildred Boehne nee Heller, 89, died Aug. 20, 2008, in Des Peres, Mo. She was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Dupo, the daughter of the late Fred and Louise (nee Winsell) Heller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Boehne Sr.; son, Robert Boehne Jr.; daughter, Bonnie Wiese; daughter-in-law, Phyllis Boehne; and great-grandchildren Cara and Nick Garner; along with brothers and sisters. She is survived by grandchildren Dawn (Mark) Garner, Brian (Denise) Wiese and Brad (Gail) Wiese; great-grandchildren Tom, Adam, Andrew, Bryanna, Jayden and Addyson; son-in-law, David (Jean) Wiese; and step-brother, Frank Armstutz; along with sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Waterloo and the Ladies Auxiliary. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Russell Lungwitz, 80, of Columbia, died Aug. 25, 2008, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis, Mo. He was born March 20, 1928, in Columbia, the son of the late Paul and Elsie (Schlegel) Lungwitz. He married Esther (Bennett) Lungwitz in 1950 in Fairview Heights. She died in 2005. Mr. Lungwitz is survived by a daughter, Gelene Lungwitz of Barnhart, Mo.; a son, Dean (Barbara) Lungwitz of Dupo; sister, Lillian Faucett of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; grandchildren Deanna (Andrew) Dennes of Columbia and Emily Lungwitz of Dupo; sister-in-law, Nora Bennett of Columbia; and very special friends Mary Mickey of Barnhart, Mo., Farrol McPheeters of Dupo and Louis and Joan Voelker of Mountain Home, Ark.; along with other relatives and friends. Mr. Lungwitz and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and later worked at Alpine Printing. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia and the Columbia Model Railroaders. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral was at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia, Pastor Steven Theiss officiating. He was buried at the church's cemetery.
