Peter A. Weber, 77, of Waterloo, died June 5, 2004, at Belleville. Mr. Weber was married to Doris A. Weber nee Marquardt. He was born February 18, 1927, the son of the late Albert and Rosa Weber nee Heck. He is survived by his wife; children Jerome Weber and Linda Weber Baker; grandchildren Leena Baker, Laine Baker and Lukus Baker; and sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Agnes Ruby. Mr. Weber was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Madonnaville. He was also a member of American Legion Post #747 and the Monroe County Farm Bureau. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, officiated by Fr. Jack Joyce. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Madonnaville. Memorials may be made to Monroe County Council for the Handicapped or to Immaculate Conception masses.

Pauline M. Mollet nee Daugherty, 66, of Waterloo, died June 6, 2004, at Waterloo. Mrs. Daugherty was married to George A. Mollet. She was born June 9, 1937, at East St. Louis, the daughter of the late Charles E. and Elvera Daugherty nee Haudrich. She is survived by children Gene Mollet, Glen (Debbie) Mollet, Giles (Patty) Mollet, Dale (Joan) Mollet, Roy (Betty) Mollet, Randy Mollet, Richard Mollet, Joan (Kenneth) Wicker, Deanna Mollet and Debbie Dunlap; 12 brothers and sisters; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Gary Mollet, and two brothers. Mrs. Mollet was a member of New Life Church in Waterloo and participated in the Tuesday Ladies Prayer Group. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor David Eckstadt. She is buried at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to New Life Church or Heartland Hospice.

Fred S. Roth Sr., 87, of Alpharetta, Ga., formerly of Columbia, died June 5, 2004, at his residence. Mr.Roth was married to Marian E. Roth nee Cofer. He was born September 17, 1916, at California, Mo., the son of the late Edward and Clara Roth nee Hempel. He is survived by his son Fred (Joanne) Roth; daughter-in-law Christine (O’Brien) Roth; grandchildren Julie Friedman, Amy Roth, Jeremy Roth, Timothy Roth, Marsha Roth and Stephanie Roth; great-grandchildren Anastasia Roth, Nathaniel Friedman and Ella Friedman; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son Michael Roth and brothers Edward Roth and William Roth. Mr. Roth was a member of the African Violet Club, St. Louis Powerboat Club and Camera Club. He worked as a purchasing executive with MARTA, St. Lois Car Co., LTV and Sikorsky Co. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. He is buried at Masonic Cemetery in California, Mo. Memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America.

James A. “Jim” Siedle, 68, of Belleville, died June 7, 2004, at Belleville. He was born February 26, 1936, at Waterloo, the son of the late Alias and Georgia Siedle nee McNabb. He is survived by children Darrell (Elaine) Siedle, Mary Jane (Dale) Darnell, Clay Siedle, Charlie (Debbie) Siedle and Chris Siedle; sister June Barrow; brother Alias “Butch” Siedle; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a former president of the Waterloo Jaycee’s and a member of the Waterloo Lion’s Club. Funeral services were at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, officiated by Pastor Chris Hucker.

Kenneth F. Windergerst, 65, of Waterloo, died June 8, 2004, at St. Louis. Mr. Windergerst was married to Pearl A. Windergerst nee Juelfs. He was born August 2, 1938, at Red Bud, the son of the late Edward and Frances Windergerst nee Vogt. He is survived by his wife; sons Steve Windergerst and David (Kim) Windergerst; grandchildren Ashley Windergerst, Allie Windergerst and Andrew Windergerst; sister Kathleen (Harvey) Junge; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Windergerst was a member of St. Patrick Church in Tipton. He was also a teacher’s assistant at Beck Vocational Center. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Patrick Church, officiated by Fr. Eugene Wojcik. He is buried at St. Patrick Cemetery in Tipton. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Patrick Church.

Amber Dawn McGathey, 22, of Kansas City, formerly of Waterloo, died June 6, 2004, at Kansas City. She was born June 8, 1981, at St. Louis, the daughter of Debra (Robert) Augustine and Boyd McGathey. She is survived by her parents; brothers Brett Augustine and Clayton Augustine; grandparents William and Dorothy Sands, Boyd and Bonnie McGathey, Shirley McCorkle and Richard and Marlene Augustine; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her brother Jason. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, officiated by Msgr. Thomas Flach. She is buried at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Kansas City Crime Stoppers.

Donald L. Mechler, 71, of Waterloo, died June 8, 2004, at Red Bud. Mr. Mechler was married to Catherine Mechler nee Hess. He was born May 13, 1933, at Waterloo, the son of the late Eugene and Bertha Mechler nee Frierdich. He is survived by his wife, sons Kevin (Mary) Mechler, Keith (Carol) Mechler and Kurt (Susie) Mechler; daughter Karen (Carey III) Clark; grandchildren Katie Mechler, Nick Mechler, Mason Mechler, Dane Mechler, Carey Clark IV, Cameron Clark and Corley Ann Clark; step-granddaughter Carrie (Matt) Hilling; step-great-grandchildren Daniel Hilling and Megan Hensiek; sister-in-law Wanda Mechler, and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Eugene A. Mechler and James V. Mechler. Mr. Mechler was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Waterloo. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and a member of the American Legion Post #747. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at SS. U.S. Marine Corporal Scott Anthony Mayer, 22, of Waterloo, died June 5, 2004, while serving in the U.S. Marine Corps on deployment in Okinawa, Japan. Mr. Mayer was married to Teresa Mayer nee Grasley, whom he met in Japan and married in Hawaii in late 2002. He was born Nov. 24, 1981, at Belleville, the son of Tony and Renae Mayer nee Oder. He is survived by his wife; parents; brothers Tim Mayer, Andy Mayer and Michael Mayer; grandmother Madeline Mayer; mother-in-law Maria Barragan; sister-in-law Jeanine Barragan; brothers-in-law Michael Greiner and Christopher Greiner; grandparents Pedro and Isabel Barragan; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Anthony J. Mayer Sr. and maternal grandparents Donald and Marilyn Oder. Mr. Mayer was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo, where he was active with the youth group, mission trips and liturgical dance group. He entered the U.S. Marine Corps following his graduation in 2000 from Waterloo High School, and was a section chief for Battery B, First Battalion, 12th Marines, stationed at Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii. He also served as a lay leader for religious services while he was in basic training. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Paul United Church of Christ, officiated by Pastor Kevin Brown. He is buried at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ Youth Center or Morrison-Talbot Library.

Kenneth Charles Horn, 54, of Columbia, died June 14, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Horn was married to Charlene Horn nee Vendl. He was born July 11, 1949, at St. Louis, the son of the late Francis and Mamie Horn nee Helvey. He is survived by his wife; son Kenneth (Amy) Horn; step-daughters Sherry (Jack) Kappel and Jenise (Pat) Lowe; step-sons John (Debra) McGovern and Mike (Shari) McGovern; sisters Doris (John) Nichols and Joan (Tom) Neidbalski; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Mr. Horn was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbia. He owned and operated Monarch Drayage Co. in St. Louis. He was a Vietnam veteran. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A memorial service was at St. Paul Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Steven Theiss. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mildred C. Frierdich, 88, of Columbia, died May 3, 2004, at her residence. She was born April 14, 1916, at St. Louis, the daughter of the late Philip and Mary Frierdich nee Schuler. She is survived by her sister Viola Rahn; nephew Ralph Rahn; and relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Ms. Frierdich was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, where she was active with the church quilters. She retired from Weilbacher’s Department Store, where she worked as a sales clerk in the shoe department, and she was a member of Columbia Senior Citizens. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Church, officiated by Father Carl Scherrer. She is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Columbia. Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Building Fund.
