Oscar L. Fehrenz, 90, of Waterloo, died May 16, 2004, at Belleville. He was born June 11, 1913, at Red Bud, the son of the late Theodore and Johanna Fehrenz nee Goeddel. He is survived by sister Elfrieda Wetzler; special friend and companion Jeanette Wirth; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Viola Fehrenz and brother Melvin Fehrenz. Mr. Fehrenz was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo. He was also a member of the Monroe County Council for the Handicapped and the Sunshine Singers. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home. He is buried at St. Peter Cemetery in Red Bud. Memorials may be made to St. Paul United Church of Christ.
Laverna F. Mueller nee Juelfs, 74, of Waterloo, died May 16, 2004, at St. Louis. Mrs. Mueller was married to Philip J. Mueller. She was born August 27, 1929, at Fults, the daughter of the late Theophile and Elsie R. Juelfs nee Hesterberg. She is survived by her husband; daughters Jenna (Roger) Michalsen and Holly (Ray) Kaplan; grandchildren Ted Michalsen, Hannah Michalsen, Elyssa Kaplan and Harrison Kaplan; sister Bernell Fischer; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Mueller was a member of St. Paul Church of Christ in Waterloo. She retired from the Monroe County Courthouse and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Visitation and funeral services were at Quernheim Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Chris Hucker. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo. Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children or the American Heart Association.
Adele Bieber nee Reichert, 84, of Taylor Springs, formerly of Columbia, died May 17, 2004, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs. Mrs. Bieber was married to the late Elmer J. Bieber. She was born December 8, 1919, at Columbia, the daughter of the late Adam and Anna Reichert nee Koskabar. She is survived by her sons Don Bieber, Jim Bieber, Mike Bieber, John Bieber and Greg Bieber; daughter Peggy Peters; sisters Pearl Long and Jeanette Gerlach; brother Victor Reichert; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Adam Reichert, Edward Reichert, Jacob Reichert, Elmer Reichert, Wilbur Reichert, Tom Reichert, Alben Reichert, Isadore Reichert; and sister Lorraine Reichert. There was no visitation or funeral.
A.L. Kent, 86, of Waterloo, died May 22, 2004, at St. Louis. Mr. Kent was married to the late Norma Lee Kent nee Ashley. He was born January 8, 1919, in Richardson, Tex., the son of the late Lonnie Jackson and Ada Huston Kent. He is survived by his daughter Judy (William) Coplin; son Michael (Joy) Kent; sister Mary Bailey; 10 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers and three sisters. There was no visitation. He was cremated and interred at Resthaven Gardens of Memories of Wichita, Kan.
Randy Ben Mouser, 48, of Swansea, died May 23, 2004, at Swansea. Mr. Mouser was married to Susan Mouser nee Vogel. He was born November 5, 1955, the son of Ruth Moore and Frank (Barb) Mouser. He is survived by his parents; wife; children Angela (Jason) Collins, Amy (Jeffrey) Bald, Randy “Ben” (Laura) Mouser and Amber (Larry) Mouser-Lewis; grandchildren Victor, Megan, Sarah, Matthew, Christopher, Benjamin, Denzel, Jolliss and Annie Rae; sister Lisa (Jim) Moore; brothers Jerry (Sharon) Mouser, Tom (Janet) Moore, Gary (Mary Ann) Moore, Terry (Chastity) Moore and Tom Mouser; mother-in-law Marlene Vogel; sister-in-law Toya (Rich) Burdge, Brother-in-law Scott (Bridget) Vogel; friend and cousin Allen Middleton; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Laurence D. “Larry” Cook, 66, of Red Bud, died May 24, 2004, at Red Bud Memorial Hospital. Mr. Cook was married to Nancy cook nee Hobbs. He was the son of the late Walter and Verna Cook nee Johnson. He is survived by his wife; granddaughters Dawn (Josh) Oliver and Emilie Robinett; sister Mary (Otto) Roberts, nephews Daniel (Gayla) Roberts and Jimmie (Darla) Baker; niece Kristy Weber; brothers-in-law Jim Baker, James (Clara) Dobbs, Jeff (Marcie) Dobbs, Joel Dobbs and David Dobbs; great-grandchildren Connor Oliver, Zoe Oliver, John Robinett and Luke Robinett. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Carol Chapmann, infant sons Charles and David Cook, and sister Beverly Dobbs. Mr. Cook was a member of Maplewood Park Baptist Church. He was a retired computer programmer from American Investment Co. in St. Louis. He was also a U.S. Army veteran and a tutor in the GED program at Southwestern Illinois College. Alois L. Lich, 73, of Waterloo, died May 24, 2004, at St. Louis. Mr. Lich was married to Marie Lich nee Schults. He was born February 3, 1931, at St. Louis, the son of the late George W. and Mary Lich nee Steinsieck. He is survived by his wife; children Donna (Ronald) Edison, Debbie (Rodney) Eckart, Pam (Tim) Weber, Lisa (Dennis) Juelfs, Sandra Stuart and Eric Bohlen and John (Connie) Lich; grandchildren Brian Eckart, Candy Eckart, Adam Eckart, Cpl. Steven Weber, Michelle Weber, Jason Juelfs, Megan Juelfs, David Stuart and Brandi Lich; sisters Helen Wild and Talida Nolting; brothers Lewis Lich and Robert Lich; special cousin Gus and Laverne Heinze; and sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Lich was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Waterloo. He was a retired farmer and was a member of the Maeystown Sportsman Club. Cletus E. Griesbaum, 94, of Waterloo, formerly of New Baden, died May 9, 2004, at the Monroe County Care and Rehab Center. Mr. Griesbaum was married to Loretta M. Griesbaum nee Waigand. He was born on October 13, 1909, in New Baden, the son of the late Albert and Elizabeth Griesbaum nee Loehr. He is survived by his daughter Lucille (Vernell) Moehrs; grandchildren Gina Pfund and Clay (Jennifer) Moehrs; and great-grandchildren Stephanie Pfund, Kennedy Moehrs and Greysan Moehrs. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, twin brother Clemens Griesbaum, and sisters Agnes Billhartz and Aurelia Griesbaum. Mr. Griesbaum was a member of St. George Catholic Church in New Baden. He was a retired farmer and a former member of the Holy Name Society. Funeral services were at St. George Catholic Church in New Baden, officiated by the Rev. Albert Kreher of Prairie du Rocher. Mabel June “Bunny” Habermehl nee Gaines, 86, of Columbia, formerly of Dupo, died May 3, 2004. Mrs. Habermehl was married to the late Orval “Fat” Fred Habermehl. She was born June 26, 1917, the daughter of the late Samual and Della Gaines nee Wilson. She is survived by her son Sam (Kathleen) Habermehl; granddaughter Paige Kendall Habermehl; and relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Habermehl retired from Fern’s Beauty Shop in Dupo, where she worked for more than 40 years. She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Dupo and the Railroad Women’s Association. She was an avid bowler with a natural leftie curve, and she enjoyed babysitting for her family. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral Services were at First Congregational Church in Dupo, officiated by Pastor Bob Lee. She is buried at Valhalla Gardens of Memory in Belleville. Vernon "Stein" W. Daab, 87, of Columbia, died May 2, 2004, at his residence. Mr. Daab married Vivian L. Daab nee Chaffin in 1966. He was born November 16, 1916, at Columbia, the son of the late Fred and Frieda Daab nee Guckes. He is survived by his wife, daughters Marlene Daab, Judy (Dan) Lecocq and Virginia Stumpf; sons Fred (Zan) Daab, Robert (Sharon) Thoma and Harold (Mary Jo) Thoma; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other friends and relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Martha Daab nee Wheelis, and brothers Rueben Daab and Harry Daab. Mr. Daab retired from the Columbia Quarry as a scalemaster and worked at Eberhard's Restaurant. He volunteered at the Monroe County Courthouse and attended the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #581, the Columbia Senior Citizens and the Columbia Historical Society. He will also be remembered for the poetry he composed throughout his life. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral services were at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Columbia, officiated by Pastor Kim Kelly. He is buried at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery in Columbia.
