Richard C. Seibel, 49, of Columbia, died May 1, 2004, at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis. Mr. Seibel was married to Patricia Siebel nee Schoenborn. He was born December 4, 1954, at Belleville, the son of the late Richard D. and Carol Seibel nee Conrad. He is survived by his wife; stepson Aaron (Susan) Hemme; stepdaughter Angela Hemme; sisters Lisa (Larry Singler) Seibel, Donna (Darryl Rautman) Biondo and Bonnie (Tom) Manion; brother Jon (Teresa) Seibel; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Seibel was a member of Teamsters Local #682 and #688 AFL-CIO, St. Louis. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. Visitation and funeral services were at Lawlor Funeral Home, officiated by Fr. Carl Scherrer. Cynthia M. Roberts, 18, of Waterloo, died May 27, 2004, at St. Louis. She was born on April 17, 1986, the daughter of James P. and Donna J. Roberts nee Jenkins. She is survived by her parents; sister Jamie Roberts; brother Jonathan Roberts; maternal grandparents Don and Eva Jenkins; aunt and uncle Sherri and Jeffrey Jenkins; cousins Justin, Joshua and Seth Jenkins; and many friends and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents James and Maude Roberts. Cynthia was a senior at Waterloo High School and a future member of the U.S. Marine Corps through the USMC Delay Entry Program. She was active in the choir and a member of the technical crew for the drama department. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Funeral services were at Concord Presbyterian Church, officiated by pastors Will Hesterberg and Darren Smith. She is buried at Kolmer Memorial Cemetery in Waterloo.
Arlou Faus Twesten nee Asselmeier, 88, of Waterloo, died April 28, 2004, at St. Louis. Mrs. Twesten married Lois C. Faus and then Hank P. Twesten. She was born December 24, 1915, at Maeystown, the daughter of the late Charles and Christine Asselmeier nee Bade. She is survived by children Clyde (Norma) Faus, Susan (John) Mathes and Karen (Dennis) Range; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Janice F. Liefer nee Faus, son Dale Faus, grandson Larry Faus and numerous brothers and sisters. Mrs. Twesten was a member of the Jehovah Witnesses of Waterloo. She died with dignity and grace and was loved by all. Marjorie "Marge" N. Schnittger nee Rushing, 68, of Columbia, died April 25, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Medical Center in St. Louis. Mrs. Schnittger was married to Edmund "Ed" Schnittger. She was born June 17, 1935, at Paducah, Ky., the daughter of the late James and Cora Rushing nee Legate. She is survived by her husband; children Edmund "Butch" Schnittger Jr., Debbie Hamann and Cathy Schnittger; grandchildren Kelly Schnittger, Kim (Dave) Riegel, Nathan Schnittger and Dana Blumm; six great-grandchildren; six sisters; six brothers; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother James Rushing and sister Allie Jones. Mrs. Schnittger was a retired bus driver for the Columbia School District. Kent M. Heise, 38, of the Waterloo/Valmeyer area, died April 23, 2004, at St. Louis. Mr. Heise was married to Dawn R. Heise nee Lattina, and they had two children. He was born January 27, 1966, at Red Bud, the son of the late Authur C. and Edna Heise nee Wierschem. He is survived by his wife; daughters Kaitlyn "Kaitie" Heise and Kassie Heise; brothers Gerald Heise and Brady (Carla) Heise; father-in-law and mother-in-law Clyde and Barbara Lattina; sisters- and brothers-in-law Sheri (Bill) O'Hara, Kris (Jerry) Stuart and Carla Lattina; close friends Bob and Debbie Barnes; an aunt; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Caleb L. Heise. Mr. Heise worked as a dock hand at Bussen Quarry. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Valmeyer and the Valmeyer Lions Club. Henry G. Mentel, 89, of Osage Beach, Mo., died April 21, 2004, at the Lake Regional Health System in Osage Beach. Mr. Mentel married the late Viola Mentel nee Gentsch on June 26, 1936, who died in 1993. He then married Betty Mentel nee Beckham on October 8, 2003. He was born April 24, 1914, in Monroe County, the son of the late Henry George and Emma Lily Mentel. He is survived by his wife; son Keith (Laverne) Mentel; daughter Judy Nottmeier; step-sons Michael Duty, Ernest Lee Duty and Randall Lane Duty; step-daughter Karen Edler; two grandchildren; and eight step-grandchildren. Dorothy I. Corse nee Brooks, 96, of Valmeyer, died April 20, 2004, at Waterloo. Mrs. Corse was the married to the late Ralph W. Corse. She was born April 24, 1907, at Boonville, Ind., the daughter of the late William F. and Belva Brooks nee Wheeler. She is survived by her son Richard (Linda) Corse; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; sister Annis Rayfield; and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, son Ralph W. Corse Jr., four sisters and two brothers. Mrs. Corse worked as a buyer for Stix, Baer & Fuller for 31 years. A graveside service was held at Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery in Crosstown, Mo.
Erma V. Illert nee Meyer, 91, of Rockledge, Fla., died April 19, 2004. Mrs. Meyer was married to the late Albert Illert. She was born February 14, 1913, at Valmeyer, the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret Meyer nee Miller. She is survived by daughter Margaret (Brad) Faucett; grandchildren Mary Ann, Susan and Samuel Faucett; sisters Celestine Nobbe and Margaret Goeddel; and nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Katherine Roever, Jessie Meyer, Emma Nottmeier and Leona Mueller; and brother Edwin Meyer. Robert A. Johanning, 78, died April 18, 2004, at Red Bud. Mr. Johanning was married to the late Margaret E. Johanning nee Haney. He was born September 16, 1925, at Valmeyer, the son of the late Alvin H. and Alma Johanning nee Vallowe. He is survived by children Glenna (Earl) Rodenberg and Errol (Tina) Johanning; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brother Alois (Delores) Johanning; sister Alma Williams; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and granddaughter Kimberly Johnston nee Rodenberg. Mr. Johanning was a member of the Prairie du Rocher American Legion. George H. Rahn, 84, of Columbia, died April 12, 2004, at his home. Mr. Rahn was married to Viola Rahn nee Frierdich. He was born September 5, 1919, the son of the late Louis and Delia Rahn nee Huber. He is survived by his wife; son Ralph Rahn; sisters-in-law Mildred Frierdich and Laverne Rahn; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Elmer Rahn, Walter Rahn and Carl Rahn; and sisters Hilda Dohrmann and Esther Waage. Mr. Rahn was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, where he was an usher. He was a member of American Legion Post #581, Southwest Illinois Laborer's District Council and Laborer's Local #1244. He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, fighting in the D-Day invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Funeral mass was at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia. He is buried at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Columbia.
