Mathew Jacob Steahle, 25, of Cahokia, died April 12, 2004, at House Springs, Mo. Mr. Steahle was born February 9, 1979, the son of Robert Steahle, of Columbia, and Cheryl Fain nee Ward, of House Springs. He is survived by his parents; sister Megan Steahle; grandparents William and Betty Ward, and Robert and Helen Steahle; great-grandmothers Armintha Haws and Cathy Ward; godparents Ron and Michelle Frisch; and other relatives and friends. He was a police officer with the Brooklyn Police Department, a volunteer firefighter for Washington Park, a past Presidential Honor Guard in Washington, D.C., and he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. The funeral mass was at Holy Family Catholic Church in Cahokia, officiated by Father Gerald Hechenberger. Florence C. Stumpf nee Mueller, 92, of Columbia, died April 10, 2004, at Columbia Convalescent Center. Mrs. Stumpf was married to the late Roy R. Stumpf. She was born July 20, 1911, at Columbia, the daughter of the late Fred and Bertha Mueller nee Dahmer. She is survived by children Kenneth (Evelyn) Stumpf, Ellen Stumpf and Erlene Bretzlaff; grandchildren Gary (Leona) Stumpf, Cheri (Butch) Riebeling, Jay (Kim) Stumpf, Jane (Joe) Menner, Kurt (Kim) Stumpf, Matt (Tonya) Bretzlaff and John (Kim) Bretzlaff; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister Lillian Stumpf. Mrs. Mueller attended St. Paul United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Women's Guild. She was a member of the Columbia Senior Citizens, a past officer with the Monroe County Home Extension and an avid card player. Visitation was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Mildred Lee "Millie" Voelker nee Theobald, 59, of Columbia, died April 7, 2004, at St. Anthony's Medical Center in St. Louis. Mrs. Voelker was married to Albert J. Voelker. She was born February 13, 1945, at Jackson, Mo., the daughter of the late Jacob and Cloe Theobald nee Schraeder. She is survived by her husband; children Patricia Groneman, Bob (Peggy) Voelker, Kevin (Debbie) Voelker, Joe Schulte and Don (Mary Pat) Voelker; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. Mrs. Voelker worked at Eberhard's Restaurant, Westpark Bowl, Waterloo Country Club and Tiny's Restaurant. A private service was at Lawlor Funeral Home. Henry L. Hoffmann, 91, of Waterloo, formerly of Valmeyer, died April 6, 2004, at Providence, R.I. Mr. Hoffmann was married to the late Esther A. Hoffmann nee Washausen. He was born July 9, 1912, at Waterloo, the son of the late George and Wilhelmina Hoffmann nee Nagel. He is survived by his son Norman (Linda) Hoffmann; grandson Tyson (Alma) Hoffmann; great-grandson Aramis Hoffmann; sister-in-law Laverta Hoffmann; and nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters and brothers. Mr. Hoffmann was a retired farmer and a member of St. John United Church of Christ in Valmeyer. Geraldine Louise Huebner nee Wedepohl, 71, of Waterloo, died April 5, 2004, at Waterloo. Mrs. Huebner was married to the late William R. Huebner. She was born February 7, 1933, at St. Louis, the daughter of the late Alfred and Helen Wedepohl nee Kemper. She is survived by daughters Pamela (Dan) Kettler, Linda Huebner, Tina (Randy) Braun, Beth (Mike) Sander and Rose (Mike) Dougherty; sons Mike (Judy) Huebner and Steve (Sharon) Huebner; eleven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sister Carol Littrel; brothers Bob Wedepohl, Frank Lewis and Jimmy Lewis; and sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a great-granddaughter. Mrs. Huebner was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Madonnaville, the Altar Society and the Waterloo Sportsman's Club. Visitation was at Quernheim Funeral Home. Dorothea L. Shields nee Scanlan, 67, of Waterloo, died April 1, 2004, at Red Bud. Mrs. Shields was married to Albert H. Shields. She was born March 26, 1937, at St. Louis, the daughter of the late Harry J. and Hazel Scanlan nee Bruns. She is survived by her husband, their children Albert (Diane) Shields, Jim (Mary) Shields, Jennifer (Chris) Kirn and Tom (Jenny) Shields; seven grandchildren; sister Pat (Jack) Russell; and brother Jim (Bonnie) Scanlan. Mary A. Villarreal nee Hubble, 40, of San Diego, Ca., formerly of Columbia, died April 1, 2004, at San Diego. Mrs. Villarreal was married to Hector Villarreal. She was born April 7, 1963, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Laverne Hubble nee Miller. She is survived by her husband; daughters Amber Villarreal, Ashley Villarreal and Alexis Villarreal; son Andrew Villarreal; seven sisters; two brothers; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents. Mrs. Villarreal was self-employed as an architect and construction manager. There was no visitation. Dorothy R. Bode, 79, of Waterloo died March 1 [2004] at Monroe County Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born Jan. 8, 1925 at New York City. She was the wife of Carl H. Bode. Survivors include three daughters, Bonnie (Brian) Laur, Debbie (Joseph) Beck and Patricia Bode; two sons, Kenneth Bode and Harry (Anita) Bode; one sister Jean Salemi; three brothers, Henry "Harry" (Eleanore) Campbell, Duncan "Gus" (Connie) Campbell, Donald (Frances) Campbell; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Regina (Cormier) Campbell; a son Bill Bode; a brother Jimmie Campbell and two sisters, Margaret Campbell and Dolores Carnie. Visitation was at the DeFabio Funeral Home where a funeral was March 3 with Msgr. Thomas Flach officiating. Burial was at SS Peter and Paul Cemetery. Mrs. Bode was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, the Mary and Martha Society and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Ann M. (Sander) Klotz, 82, of East Carondelet died Feb. 28 [2004] at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. She was the wife of Harold Klotz and they were married Aug. 21, 1955. She was born Dec. 22, 1921 at Columbia the daughter of the late Andrew and Annie Sander nee Glaenzer. Besides her husband, a son, Harold Klotz, Jr.; survive her; two nephews, Norman Rabbermann and Glen Rabbermann; other friends and relatives. Besides her parents a sister Florence Rabbermann preceded her in death. Mrs. Klotz was a former cafeteria employee of the Columbia School District, a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ and the Holy Cross Lutheran Church quilters. Visitation was at the Lawlor Funeral Home. A funeral was at St. Paul UCC March 3 with Pastor Kim Kelly officiating. Burial was at Evangelical St. Paul Cemetery.
Douglas S. Williams, 58, of St. Louis died Feb. 26 [2004]. He was the husband of Debbie Williams nee Crook. Besides his wife, he is survived by his father John I. (Jane) Williams; three sons, Douglas (Theresa) Williams, Jason (Cindy Harris) and Jeremy (Kristen Donnelly) Williams; one daughter Jennifer Williams; a sister, Susan Vogel; two brothers, Mac and Bruce Williams; in-laws Charles and Wilma Crook; six grandchildren; and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother Marjorie Williams. A memorial service was at St. Lucas UCC in Sappington, MO. Visitation was at Bopp Chapel, Kirkwood, MO.
