97-year-old McLeansboro resident, Emma French died at 5:30 Monday evening, Nov. 28, 2004 at the McLeansboro Healthcare Center. She had worked as a nurse's assistant at the East Moline Illinois State Hospital for several years and was a homemaker.
Survivors include sons, Harold French of Port Byron, Il., and Don French of Kell; daughters, Dolores Young and Carolyn Daniels of McLeansboro, Shirley Hollister of Port Byron, Il., and Barbara Childers of Mount Vernon, Il., a brother, James J. Johnson of Cedar Lake, Indiana; 14 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
Services for Emma French were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with burial in the Oddfellows Cemetery at McLeansboro.

88-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Anna M. Ott of Belleville, Ill. died at 4:10 Monday afternoon, Nov. 29, 2004 at the Lincoln House in Belleville, Ill.
Survivors include brothers, George Haas of Millstadt, Il., and John Haas of McLeansboro; sisters Elizabeth Rubenacker of Dahlgren, Frances Downs of Granite City, Il., and Helen Miller of Peoria; two grandchildren, elizabeth and Nick Schaab of Belleville also srvive.

87 year old Fairfield resident, Geneva Faye Kline, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 28th, 2004 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Norene Young of Fairfield, Josephine Hennelly of Long Island, New York and Darlene Koonce of Creede, Colorado; 2 sons, Richard Kline of Fairfield and Kenneth Kline of Mt. Carmel; 2 sisters, Virginia Ellis and Pauline Gash both of Fairfield; a brother, Thomas R. Cannon Jr. of Fairfield; 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

88 year old Fairfield resident, Lillian C. Xanders, died at 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 27th, 2004 at Wayfair Restorium. She was retired from Airtex Products.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Barbara Mattox of Fairfield; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Xanders of Fairfield; 2 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, a special niece, Lilly Gylling of Chicago; and 2 special nephews, Ray Simmons of Anderson, Indiana and Gene Simmons of Florida.

93-year-old former McLeansboro resident, Hylea Tyalor died at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 25, 2004 in the Riverbend Nursing Home in Grand Blanc, MIchigan.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Arlene Cook of Davisburg, MIchigan; a brother, Gale Seber of Lawrenceville; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Hylea Taylor were at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30th at Little Springs Cemetery at McLeansboro.
Visitation was from 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30th until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.
Mabel Knackmus
81-year-old West Salem resident, Mabel Knackmus died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 from injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Oklahoma. She volunteered with American Red Cross Blood Drives, and was a member of the W. Salem Ruritan Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda Chapman of West Salem, a son, Clark "Crk" Knackmus of Olney; a brother, David Harris of Tahlequah, Oklahoma, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services for Mabel Knackmus were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 30, at the Zion United Methodist Church in West Salem with burial in the Moravian Cemetery.
Visitation was from 6 til 8 Monday evening at the church.

Harold Wiseman
74-year-old West Salem resident, Harold Wiseman died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 from injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Oklahoma. A veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired farmer. He was a member of the United Methodist Men's Group and the West Salem Ruritan Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Wiseman of WEst Salem; three sons, Galen Wiseman of Knoxville, Tenn., Kevin Wiseman of Albion, Brian Wiseman of W. Salem; three sisters, Mary Alice Lynch of W. Salem, Clara King of Albion and Betty James of Indianapolis, Ind.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

87-year-old Crossville resident, Katherine E. Daniel died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hospital in Evansville. She had been a homemaker, was a volunteer at Wabash Christian Retirement Center and was a member of the First Christian Church in Carmi.
Survivors include two sons, Larry J. Daniel of Gold Beach, Oregon and David Daniel of Crossville; a brother, Ralph Winter of Carmi; a sister, Ruby Jones of Crossville, five grandchildrn and two great-grandchildren.

82-year-old McLeansboro resident, Jane Digby died at 8:30 Tuesday morning, Nov. 23, 2004 in the Hamilton Memorial Nursing Center. She had worked as a clerk at the former Illinois Brokerage Company, P.N. Hirsh Stores and formerly at the Ben Franklin Stores in McLeansboro.
Survivors include two sons, Carl and Walter Digby of McLeansboro; a daughter, E. Joanne Ferrell of McLeansboro; two brothers, Dossett S. Melvin of Amarillo, Tx., and Winston Ledbetter of Mount Vernon, Ind., a sister, Geri Hintz of McLeansboro; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Dale Matthews
95-year-old Fairfield resident, Dale Matthews died at 8:55 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22, 2004 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. A Navy veteran of WW II, he had served as City Collector for 15 years.
Survivors include a son, L.D. Matthews of Fairfield a daughter, Nancy Coale of Fairfield; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services for Dale Matthews were at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation was from noon Friday until the time of service at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.

90 year old Houston, Texas resident, formerly of Fairfield, Grace V. Mayer, died at 8:10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 22nd, 2004 at the home of her daughter.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Marjorie Johnson and Sandra Blackburn both of Houston, Texas.
