Anna Wilhelmina “Minnie” Myers
Anna Wilhelmina “Minnie” Myers, 91, of Macomb, died at 8:05 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at her home. She was born July 1, 1910, in Macomb, to William Edwin and Tillie May Burke DeCamp. She first married Joseph Moon and then Donovan Myers; both are deceased.
She is survived by one son, Robert Moon, Venice, Calif.; one daughter, Joan Plassman, Macomb; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Young, Bentonville, Ark. In addition to her parents and her husbands, she was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.
She retired as a switchboard operator from Western Illinois University. She was very active with the McDonough County Republican Party and with the McDonough County Republican Women. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Macomb.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steve Workman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program.
Bradley Paul Pennington
Bradley Paul Pennington, 18, of Macomb, died at 1:38 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1982, the son of Thomas and Sherry Shew Pennington; they survive. He is also survived by one sister, Susan; four brothers, Tommy, Danny, Michael and Lance, all of Macomb; grandfather, Paul Pennington, Macomb; grandmother, Genevieve Shew, Chicago; five aunts, Ann Pennington, Marilyn Leung, Marian Cook, Patricia Shew and Joanne Huff; three uncles, Richard Shew, Jerry Shew and Koeby Shew; many, many cousins; and many, many friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Macomb, with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Dr. Richmond E. Prentice
Dr. Richmond E. Prentice, 74 of Pittsfield, Ill. died Monday, September 24, 2001 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. He was born October 5, 1926 in Fountain Green, Ill. near Hancock County. He was the son of Alphens H. and Eliza M. Siepel Prentice. He married Mary Lea Ware on August 4, 1950 at Plymouth, Ill. She survives.
He graduated form Colchester High School in Colchester, Ill. in 1943. He received his B.S. in Education from Western Illinois University in 1954, a M.S. in Education form Western Illinois University in 1957, a 6th Year Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from Western Illinois University in 1967, and a Doctor of Education Degree from Indiana University in 1970. He also attended University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. He was a Seventh and Eighth Grade Teacher and Coach in Vermont, Ill. from 1946-1947, then he taught Seventh and Eighth and Coached in Hanna City, Ill. from 1947-1948. He became an Elementary Principal, Teacher, and Coach in Plymouth, Ill. from 1948-1955. He was an Elementary Supervisor at Community Unit District No. 5 in Streator, Ill. from 1955-1957. He was Elementary and High School Principal in Good Hope, Ill. from 1957-1959. He later was an Assistant Superintendent of Pittsfield Community Unit School District No. 10 in Pike County, Ill. from 1959-1964. In 1964 he became the Resident Supervisor/Regional Coordinator of Student Teaching and Associate Professor of Education at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Ill. He was a member of the Board of Education in Pikeland Community Unit School District #10, National and Illinois Education Association, National and Illinois Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development, National and Illinois Association for Teacher Educators, American and Illinois Federation of Teachers, National School Public Relations Association, Phi Delta Kappa - Educational Honorary Fraternity at WIU in Macomb, Ill., American Association of School Administrators, Council for Basic Education, and Rural/Regional Education Association. He was a chairperson in the Two Rivers Division for Illinois Association of School Boards; an analyst - Clinical Strand for Illinois Administrator Academy; chairperson for Credentials Committee, National Association of Teacher Educators; President of Illinois Association of Teacher Educators; member of Advisory Board, Association of Teacher Educators Academy; member of Membership Committee, Illinois Association of Teacher Educators Academy; member of membership Committee, Illinois Association of Teacher Educators Academy; Past President of Association; Past President of Hancock County Schoolmasters Association; Past President of Hancock county Elementary Principals Association; member of Student Teaching Handbook Revision Committee at WIU Campus Chapter; Past Secretary-Treasurer of Phi Delta Kappa, WIU Campus Chapter; Past chairman of State Committee on Standard and Performance of the Illinois Association of Teacher Educators; member for 23 years, WIU Alumni council; member of National Commission of ATE for the Study of the Problems of Rural Education; past member of Department of Field Experiences Personnel Committee, WIU; past member of Scholarship Committee, WIU Chapter, Phi Delta Kappa; Past President of Illinois Association of Teacher Educators; Local Board of Education - Pikeland Unit 10 for 8 years; Chairperson, Two Rivers Division, Illinois Association of School Boards for 4 years; and a member of the State Board of Directors, Illinois Association of School Boards for 2 years. Dr. Prentice was a member of the Pittsfield First United Methodist Church; he was also a member of the Administrative Council; Chairman of Pastor Parish Relations Committee; Chairman of Finance Committee; served as Church Lay Leader; taught Samaritan Sunday School Class; and a member of the United Methodist Men. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA), Quail Unlimited; an avid quail, pheasant, goose, and deer hunter and was especially a Cardinals Baseball Fan.
Survivors include his wife Mary Lea Prentice of Pittsfield, Ill.; a son Rodney Prentice of Pittsfield, Ill.; a daughter Mrs. Steve (Gina) Rylander of Pittsfield, Ill.; a brother C. Paul Prentice of Macomb, Ill.; a sister Carrie E. Prentice of Spokane, Wash.; seven grandchildren; Ryan Prentice, Amy Prentice, Megan Prentice, Mrs. Chris (Erin) Verbeck, Kate Lagemann, Abby Lagemann, and Ty Rylander; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded by two brothers; George and Vernon and two sisters; Ella Prentice and Elma Foster.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Pittsfield, Ill. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery in Pittsfield, Ill. Family met with friends at Niebur Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill. on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials are to a Scholarship Fund established through Pittsfield High School for students going to Western Illinois University majoring in Education or to the Pittsfield United Methodist Church. Niebur Funeral Home is handling all arrangements.
Raymond A. F. Carlson
Raymond A. F. Carlson, 79, of Rio, died at 12:40 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 in Good Samaritan Nursing Home, Knoxville.
He was born April 6, 1922, in Abingdon, the son of Albert and Ann Carlson Carlson.
He married Ethel L. Heck on Feb. 26, 1955, in Lawton, Okla.
Surviving are three sons, Arne (and Laura) Carlson, Oneida, Ernest "Ronne" Carlson and Rex (and Tanya) Carlson, both of Galesburg; one daughter, Joyce (and Kenneth) White, Mariemont, Ohio; one brother, Roy D. Carlson Altona; one sister, Shirley Schrodt, Galesburg; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
He graduated from Oneida High School.
He farmed all his life in the Oneida and Woodhull areas. He retired in 1993.
He was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Henderson Grove, and the Knox County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Messiah Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Kurt Carlsen officiating.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery, Galesburg.

Roy E. Lee
Roy E. Lee, died at his home in Pensacola, Fla., Sept. 8, 2001 following two strokes.
He was born Nov. 28, 1924 the son of Oural and Rosa Trulock Lee. He first married Antoinette Singer and they had two children, Eddie, deceased, and Virginia Cass, who lives in Missoula, Mont. with her husband and two daughters. He married Earlene Cleveland on April 20, 1991. She survives.
Local survivors are four sisters, Mildred Jones, Carol Smith, Harriet Goehl and Lois Taylor. Also surviving are 6 stepchildren, several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Roy served in the Marine Corps during World War II and devoted most of his working life to the Phillips Corporation.
Ruth Godsil
Ruth Godsil, 80, of Galesburg, died at 5:42 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 30, 2001, at OSF St. Mary Medical Center.
Born June 18, 1921, in Tuscola to Clarence and Mamie Case Tingley, she married Larry O. Godsil on June 24, 1939, in Galesburg. He died in 1987.
She also was preceded in death by two sons, Dave Godsil in 1969 and Steve Godsil on Sept. 10, 2001; three brothers; six sisters; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter.
Surviving are one daughter, Jane (and the Rev. Tim) Anderson of Altona; three sons, Ted of Abingdon, Jack of Lompoc, Calif.; and Jeff of Crownsville, Md.; 11 grandchildren; 22 step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of T.O.P.S.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel with Rev. Bob Malone officiating. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel.
Burial will be in East Linwood Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to any charity.
Ruth L. Haynes
Ruth L. Haynes, 95, of Galesburg, died at 9:09 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24, 2001 in Galesburg Hospital.
She was born on Oct. 9, 1905 in Abingdon, to Harry L. and Della M. Perdue Thurman. She married Artie Willis Haynes in Des Moines, Iowa on June 18, 1924. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1970.
Survivors include one daughter, Doris Thurman Chiado, Berwyn; one sister Irma Thurman Thomas, Galesburg; three grandchildren, Connie Speerly, Morton, James S. Chiado, Jr. of Las Vegas, Nev., Robert J. Chiado, Carrolton, Texas and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Thurman Peck on March 7, 1995, three brothers and one sister.
She first worked for 26 years as a seamstress for Blue Bell in Abingdon. She later worked as an office clerk for the Knox County Courthouse. She last worked as an agent for the Combined Insurance Company, Galesburg for 33 years retiring in 1987. She was the first woman ever to earn the Grand Diamond Award. She also received other insurance awards. At the age of seventy, she went back to school for insurance classes to expand her services.
She was a member of Maquon Methodist Church and was an associated member of the Central Congregational Church in Galesburg.
She was a former member of the Royal Neighbors and the Good Cheer Club. She was a member of the Welcome Wagon and the Newcomer Greeting Club both in Galesburg.
She attended schools in Cameron and St. Augustine. She was a graduate of Abingdon High School and Brown’s Business College in Galesburg.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28 at Central Congregational Church in Galesburg with Revs. John D. Carson Jr. and Jeremy Hensley officiating.
Burial was in Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Central Congregational Church or the Maquon Methodist Church.

Kathryn G. Bale
Kathryn G. Bale, 99, of Macomb, died at 11:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2001, at the Oklahoma Christian Home, Edmond, Okla.
She was born July 9, 1902, in Alexi, the daughter of Archibald Taylor and Ethel Harriet Loveridge Greenwell, and the oldest of seven children. She married Carl R. Bale Feb. 18, 1928, in Manson, Iowa. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1986.
She is survived by one son, Charles Richards (Pamela) Bale, Oklahoma City, Okla., and one daughter, Barbara Lou Reis, Ocala Fla. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Cathy Reis (Ned) Null and their children, Alex Claire, Hadley Amelia and Sydney Catherine, Blandinsville; Marty Reis, Oklahoma City; Chuck (Cathy) Reis and their children, Carl and Chad, San Antonio, Texas; Jaimee Reis (Chuck) Zorio and their daughter, Neely, of Oklahoma City; and one remaining brother, Ted Greenwell, White Bear Lake, Minn.; as well as many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.
Kathryn recieved a teacher’s certificate from Western Illinois Teachers College in Macomb in the early 1920s and taught all grades in a little country school near Alexis. She also directed home talent plays in various towns within Illinois, Minnesota and Iowa. It was during a tour in Iowa she met, and later married, her beloved Carl. She was a longtime resident of Macomb, moving here with her husband and two children in 1942. Kathryn was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who enjoyed cooking and looking after her flock. She will be greatly missed by all.
The family would like to thank the staff of Oklahoma Christian Home and Odyssey (Hospice) Healthcare for the wonderful care and attention given to Kathryn over the last 18 months of her life.
A memorial service was held on Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with the Rev. Steve Workman officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Interment of ashes was in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.

Tim L. Anderson
Tim L. Anderson, 45, Bartonville, died at 11:08 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1, 2001 in Proctor Hospital, Peoria.
He was born Aug. 18, 1956, in Galesburg, the son of Elwood and Virginia Reed Anderson.
He married Debra Wamboldt on Nov. 16, 1991, in Brimfield.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Nicholas Anderson and Nathan Anderson, both at home; one daughter, Megan Anderson, at home; six brothers, Roger ( and Diane) Anderson, Peoria, Chad Anderson, Albuquerque, N.M., Terry (and Cheryl) Anderson, Freeport, Charles Anderson, Galesburg, Gilbert “Mike" (and Janice) Anderson, Abingdon, and Elwood Anderson, Jr. of Florida and 11 sisters, Mary Lu Clay, Springfield, Sarah (and Bob) Howler, Peoria, Debbie (and Keith) Hopping, and Judy (and Brian) Swanson, both of Bennett, Neb., Bonnie (and Ed) Johnson, and Alice Peterson, both of Galesburg, Carol Sue (and Elbert) Hines, Creve Coeur, Jeanne (and Ed) Alexander, Berwick, Lucrecia (and Bob) Blunt, Roseville, Margaret Yerkey, Monmouth and Nancy Jo (and Marty) Smith, Abingdon.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He was a farmer for Marilyn Bruniga and Bob Strom for several years, last working four years for Robert Guppy farms.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel, Bartonville, with Rev. Mary Smith officiating.
Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Eden.
