Steve O. Godsil
Steve O. Godsil, 58, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Galesburg, died Sept. 10, 2001 in St. John’s Regional Health Center.
He was born Nov. 9, 1942, in Washington state, the son of Larry O. and Ruth J. Tingley Godsil. His mother died shortly after his death on Sept. 30, 2001.
Surviving are his wife, Joan, of Springfield, Mo.; one daughter, Suzette of South Dakota; three brothers, Ted Godsil, Abingdon, Jack Godsil, Lompoc, Calif., and Jeff Godsil, Crownville, Md.; one sister, Jane Anderson, Altona; 24 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, one brother and one granddaughter.
He attended Galesburg schools and served in the U. S. Navy for two years.
Graveside services were held Sept. 14, 2001 in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, Mo. with Rev. Bill Dowell Jr. officiating. Military rites were conducted.
Greenlawn Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Robert "Bob” Hunt
Memorial services for Robert "Bob” Hunt, 67, were held Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Brewer Baptist Church, Richton, Miss.
A former Roseville resident, Mr. Hunt passed away Sept. 28, 2001, in Forrest General Hospital. Jones Funeral Home, Richton, was in charge of arrangements.
He was a professional barber.
He leaves: his wife, Agustina Ulloa in Richton; sons, Doug Richards, Denver, Colo., Mark Van Winkle, White Bear Lake, Minn., Robert L. Hunt, Gresham, Ore., P. LeNaire Hunt, Ridgefield, Wash., William L. Hunt, Vancouver, Wash., a stepson, Josh Ulloa, Richton; a daughter, Lisa A. Hunt, Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, James G. Hunt, San Antonio, Tex.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Melba A. Crowl
Melba A. Crowl, 76, Bushnell, died at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001 in McDonough District Hospital, Macomb.
She was born April 13, 1925, in Marietta, the daughter of Jesse and Pearl Postin Yocum.
She married James Beaird. He died in 1945. She married Donovan E. Crowl on May 2, 1948 in Macomb. He died Dec. 5, 1988.
Surviving are one son, Richard Crowl, Bogalusa, La.; one daughter, Cathy Crowl, Prairie City; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; three brothers, Raymond Yocum, Avon, and Don Yocum and Bill Yocum, both of Prairie City; and two sisters, Pauline Rylander, Oneida, and Norma Lytchfield, New Philadelphia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, James Beaird and Dennis Crowl, one grandson, three brothers and four sisters.
She was a past member of Prairie City Presbyterian Church and a member of the Bushnell V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell with Rev. Terry Broady officiating.
Burial was in the Prairie City Cemetery.

Frances Beautrice Macklin
Frances Beautrice Macklin, 49, of Bushnell, died at 7:09 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.
She ws born March 1, 1952, in Galesburg, the daughter of Eugene L. (Sarge) and Wilma J. Shinn Macklin.
She is survived by her mother, Wilma Macklin, Peoria, and two sisters, Carmen J. Adams, Pekin, and LuElla Mae Macklin, Macomb.
She was preceded in death by her father and one sister, Katherine Ann Macklin.
She was an employee of Bridgeway and was a resident of Bethphage for 15 years. She won several medals in the Special Olympics.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2001, at the Macomb Assembly of God Church in Macomb, with the Rev. Alan Puccini officiating. Graveside services were held at the Parkview Cemetery in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Bethphage. Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb was in charge of arrangements.
H.Dean Knappenberger
H. Dean Knappenberger, of Scottsdale, Ariz., formerly of Sciota and Macomb, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at the Life Care Center of Scottsdale. He was born March 13, 1918, in Macomb, to Harve Chase and Olive Rinehart Knappenberger. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Josephine (Jo) Forrester Knappenberger; two sons, Gary, Kansas City, Mo., and Gail, Minneapolis, Minn.; four grandchildren, Paul, Milwaukee, Wis., Robyn, Cincinnati, Ohio, Kelly Foit, Tacoma, Wash., and Julie,Tacoma, Wash.; and a brother, Burdette R. Knappenberger, Sciota.

Irene B. Reeder
Irene B. Reeder, 85, died at 12:10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at the Care Center of Abingdon where she was a resident.
She was born Dec. 1, 1915 in Abingdon, the daughter of Harry C. and Irene Calnan Bulkeley. She married Charles W. Reeder, on Jan. 11, 1941 in Abingdon. He preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 1979.
Survivors include two sons, Bill Reeder, Abingdon and Bob (and Sue) Reeder, Galesburg; one daughter, Cynthia Meadows, Rock Falls; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister.
She had lived in Abingdon all of her life. She graduated from Abingdon High School and then graduated from Illinois Wesleyan College in 1937.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church and also a member of the Button Club.
Cremation was accorded. A graveside committal of the cremains was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Abingdon Cemetery with Eleanor Landon officiating.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Abingdon Historical Society.
Herman V. Nyman
Herman V. "Hap" Nyman, 77, of East Galesburg, died at 2:40 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001 in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born Sept. 13, 1924, in Oneida, the son of Albert and Alice Issacson Nyman.
He married Inez I. Nyman on Sept. 9, 1951, in Galesburg. She died June 15, 1992.
Surviving are one son, Tom (and Becky) Nyman, Abingdon; one daughter, Debra (and Arthur) Smith, East Galesburg; two brothers, Harold (and Norma) Nyman, Kewanee, and Donald Nyman, Altona; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and three brothers.
He was reared and educated in the Oneida area.
He worked at Churchill Puritan Chemical Company in Galesburg. He was retired.
He was a member of First Lutheran Church, Wataga.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home, Knoxville with Rev. Tim Anderson officiating. Burial was in Woodhull Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Gary D. Leaf
Gary D. Leaf, 61, of Galesburg, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001 at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1940, in Galesburg, the son of Victor and Ila Hanson Leaf.
He married Janet R. Coats McCann on Aug. 9, 1991, in Burlington, Iowa.
Surviving are his wife; one son, David Leaf, Keithsburg; one stepson, Scott McCann, Plymouth, Minn.; one step-daughter, Peggy McCann, East Lansing, Mich.; and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and a daughter.
He graduated from Galesburg High School.
He worked at Maytag for 28 years, retiring in 1995. He also worked for Benner Tea Company and Giant Food Stores.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, I.M.A. Local 2063 and the National Rifle Association.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with Eleanor Landon officiating.
Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Helen B. Friday
Helen B. Friday, 85, Macomb, died at 8:20 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born Aug. 12, 1916, in Macomb, to Joseph L. and Bessie A. Stoneking Bean. She married Sterling W. Friday on Aug. 26, 1933, in Macomb. He preceded her in death Sept. 10, 2001.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Friday, Phoenix, Ariz., James (Mary Jane) Friday, Macomb, and John (Connie) Friday,Avon; three daughters, Bonnie Fordyce, Keene, Texas, Beverly Brooks, Silvis, and Sandra (Don) Nelson, Pekin; 29 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Harold Carlson, Springfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sons, Charles Norman, Kenneth and Michael Friday; and two brothers, Clyde and Claude Bean.
Mrs. Friday retired from Macomb School District 185, where she worked as a cook from 1958 to 1980. She was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day.
Graveside services were held Wednesday, Oct.10, 2001, at Oakwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Ron Green officiating. Memorials may be made to the Church of God Seventh Day. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
