Everett J. Brookhart
Everett J. Brookhart, 87, of Macomb, formerly of rural Roseville, died at 12:40 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001 in the Elms Nursing Home.
He was born May 9, 1914, in Williamstown, Mo., the son of Raymond and Ethel Washburn Brookhart.
He married Wilma L. Daniels on March 18, 1939, in Kahoka, Mo. She died Nov. 2, 1996.
Surviving are two daughters, Karen (and Jim) McCone, Macomb, and Brenda Voorhees, Avon; three grandchildren; two brothers, Eldon Brookhart, Table Grove, and Ralph Brookhart, Keokuk, Iowa; one sister, Leona Waller, Donnelson, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
He and his wife farmed in the Walnut Grove area for more than 50 years.
He was a member of Walnut Grove Methodist Church and a charter member of the Good Hope Masonic Lodge.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Walnut Grove Methodist Church, with Rev. Stacey Tomich officiating.
Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell was in charge of the arrangements.
Burial was in the Bushnell Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Walnut Grove Methodist Church, Red Cross Transportation or The Elms Nursing Home.

Isla Reno Dymond
Isla Reno Dymond, 96, of Bull Shoals, Ark., formerly of Macomb, died Dec. 17, 2000, in Arkansas. She was born Nov. 12, 1904, in Macomb, the daughter of Henry D. and Gertrude Saul Reno. She was married to Charles Kettron, Arch Applegate and Elmer Dymond; they all preceded her in death. Also, preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Charles D. Kettron; and three brothers, Herschel, Donald and Bryce Reno.
She is survived by a brother, Max Reno, Rock Island, and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Bardolph High School and attended Western Illinois State Teachers College.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside burial of ashes was held Saturday, Oct. 3, 2001, in the Bardolph Cemetery in Bardolph, with the Rev. Ron Green officiating. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Vivian K. Chandler
Vivian K. Chandler, 94, of Macomb, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2001, at the Wesley Village Health Care Center.
She was born Nov. 20, 1907, in Scotland Township, McDonough County, the daughter of Roy C. and Mary Wrigley Kline. She married Neil R. Chandler June 6, 1931, in Macomb. He died Oct. 12, 1981.
She is survived by one daughter, Cheryl Chandler, Mexico City, Mexico; one son, Kendall Chandler, Springfield; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Macomb High School and was a legal secretary for Harris and Harris Law Firm in Macomb until 1936. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Macomb, numerous Macomb women’s clubs and Macomb Chapter 123 Order of Eastern Star. Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001, at Sargent-Worthington Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to Wesley Village Health Care Center in Macomb.

Mabel E. Boyle
Mabel E. Boyle, 95, Macomb, died at 3:35 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Heritage Manor, El Paso.
She was born Jan. 22, 1906, in St. David, the daughter of John W. and Mary Jane Hoagland Daily. She married Charles Boyle Nov. 30, 1940, in Burlington, Iowa. He preceded her in death May 19, 1978.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Eula Butler and Helen Kashnerl; and one great-nephew, Larry McBurney.
She is survived by one nephew, Vernon Kashner, of McLean; one niece, Sandra Jo McBurney, of Shirley; and several great-nieces and -nephews.
Mrs. Boyle received her teaching certificate from Western Illinois State Teachers College. She worked for the Macomb Post Office and at Camp Ellis during World War II. She also worked at Miner’s Book store in Macomb. She was an avid cribbage and Uno player. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.
Private family services were held on Oct. 6, 2001, in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Heritage Manor, 555 E. Clay St., El Paso, IL 61738, or Lincoln Developmental Center, 861 S. State St., Lincoln, IL 62656. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Beverly S. Cox
Beverly S. Cox, 56, of Abingdon, died at 5:40 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, 2001 at OSF St. Mary Medical Center, Galesburg.
She was born May 31, 1945 in Warren County, west of Abingdon, the daughter of Cleo R. and Vista K. Anderson Cox.
She is survived by her mother, Vista Cox, Abingdon; one son, Jeffrey Cox, Boulder, Co.; one daughter Shannon (John) Swank, Abingdon; one brother, Bob (Verna) Cox, Abingdon; two sisters, Judy Simpson, Abingdon and Janet (Ted) Nelson, Galesburg; one grandson, Brody Callihan, Abingdon, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and sister, Jeanetta Cox.
She had lived in Abingdon all of her life where she graduated from Abingdon High School in 1962. She later graduated from the former Dooley’s Cosmetology School in Galesburg.
She was a self employed beautician for ten years and was a cake decorator.
She was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Abingdon where she was a Missions Leader, song leader and former Sunday School teacher.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, 2001 at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Eleanor Landon and Rev. Marty Smith officiating.
Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the family.

T. Clarice Warmker
T. Clarice Warmker, 78, formerly of 819 Monroe, died at 10:25 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2001 in Ottawa pavilion in Ottawa. She was born July 1, 1923, in Augusta, a daughter of Robert Elmer and Grace Robertson Matthews. On June 30, 1945, she married Willis A. Warmker in Quincy. He died January 10, 1981.
She attended Gem City Business College. She was employed by Roderick P. Miller as a sales associate. She was very active in Berrian School PTA and was a Cadette Girl Scout leader for 10 years. She was a member of Eagles Auxiliary 535 and also was a member of Southside Christian Church in Ottawa. She was a former member of Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Rowlee and her husband, Jay of Leland, and Marsha Matlock and her husband, Bob of Fountain, Colo.; and two grandchildren, Gina Rowlee of Champaign and Rose Matlock of Fountain. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in Greenmount Cemetery by the Rev. Bruce Willard. There was no visitation but friends were invited to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Southside Christian Church in Ottawa. The Hansen-Spear Funeral Home in Quincy is handling arrangements.

Margaret A. "Sandy” Berry
Margaret A. "Sandy” Berry, 70, of 1614 Chestnut died at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2001 in Blessing Hospital.
She was born July 21, 1931, in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Carew and Pearl "Maggie” Ranck Sanders. Her father died when she was a small child and she was raised by her mother and stepfather, Pearl "McGee” Martin. She married Charles Warner Berry of Deadwood, S.D., in July 1953 in Macomb. He preceded her in death.
She graduated from Macomb Senior High and attended Western Illinois University from 1949 to 1951 and Washington University School of Nursing in St. Louis from 1951 until 1953. She also attended Black Hills Teachers College in Spearfish, S.D. She loved music, literature, journalism, antiques, horticulture, researching family genealogy, working on her computer and attending auctions.
She was employed by the Adams County Department of Public Aid from 1967 until her retirement as a supervisor in 1991. Professionally she served as chairman of the Adams County Interagency Coordinating Council in 1973-74 and on the Adams County Group for Interagency Development Illinois Welfare Association.
Surviving are: two sons, John "Jack” Berry and his wife, Lillian, of Fowler, and Richard "Dick” Berry and his wife, Jing, of Plano, Texas; a daughter, Janet Kurjanski, and her husband, Paul, of Quincy; eight grandchildren, Scott, Craig and Adam Kurjanski, all of Quincy, Joshua Berry of Austin, Texas, Daniel Berry, and his wife, Erin, of Korea, Elizabeth Berry of Fowler, Sam Berry of Plymouth and Clark Berry of Plano. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather.
Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home. Visitation was one hour before the service in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army.

Charles M. "Chuck" Armstrong Jr.
Charles M. "Chuck" Armstrong Jr., 77, of Abingdon, died at 6:13 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, 2001 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.
He was born April 11, 1924 in Geneseo, the son of Charles M. and Florence Taylor Armstrong Sr.
He is survived by one son, Jon Armstrong, Canton; his companion Deborah Keller, and her sons Willie and John Keller, of Abingdon; ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and by brothers and sisters.
He had lived in Abingdon most of his life.
He was a laborer for the former White’s Roofing in Galesburg for over 20 years and later worked for the city of Abingdon for 20 years. He currently worked for Southard’s Car Wash in Abingdon.
He was an Army veteran of WWII and a lifetime member of Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post #381 in Abingdon.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel in Abingdon with Eleanor Landon officiating.
Burial was in Abingdon Cemetery where Military Rites were accorded by the American Legion Post #381.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Charles W. Galbraith
Memorial services for Charles William Galbraith, 58, Lyndhurst Dr.,Hiawatha, Iowa, on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 10 a.m. in Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The Rev. Neil Manternach of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church officiated.
Charles was born April 5, 1943, in Burlington, Iowa to Max and Yulon Whalen Galbraith. He graduated from Media-Weaver High School, Media, Burlington Community College and attended the University of Illinois and Western Illinois University.
He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, assigned to the U.S.S. Edson. He married Bonnie Ivins on Aug. 30, 1969, in Morning Sun, Iowa. He was district sales manager for Metso Minerals Svelda for 21 years.
He leaves: his wife; two sons, Ryan and Tom both of Cedar Rapids; a daughter, Jessica, of Hiawatha; his parents, Max and Yulon in Roseville; a brother, Max "Buz” Galbraith, Roseville; and a sister, Karen Starbuck of Roseville.
Chuck loved his family and friends and enjoyed biking, photography, golfing, fishing and his motorcycle.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
