Alma A. Kapp
Alma A. Kapp, 74, Astoria, died at 5:21 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2001, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville. She was born April 12, 1927, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Lemart and Myrtlena Dye McKinley. She married Edward "Bill” L. Keller in Rushville in December 1946. He preceded her in death in 1958. She then married Chester Kapp June 22, 1974, in Astoria. He survives.
She is also survived by one daughter, Gartha Keller, Astoria; and one sister, Mary (Clarence) Keller, Macomb.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, George, Floyd and Daniel; and three sisters, Julia, Ellen and Alta.
She cared for the elderly in their homes.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, with the Rev. Lester Burgard officiating. Interment was in Salem Cemetery, Astoria.
Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.
Oladene L. King
Oladene L. King, 93, Macomb, died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, at Wesley Village Health Care Center.
She was born Jan. 20, 1908, in Colchester, the daughter of Robert L. and Winnifred UnderhIll Myers. She married Mose H. King July 25, 1931, in Villa Ridge. He preceded her in death July 8, 1979.
She is survived by one son, Benny (Nancy) King, Tucson, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Cynthia (David) Lyon, Independence, Iowa, Joanne (Vance) Jones, Birmingham, Ala., and Scott (Carrie) King, Atascadero, Calif.; 14 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hazel Willey, Barrington.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Nelson, Blondel and Clyde Myers, and two sisters, Mabel Myers and Beulah Valentine.
Mrs. King had been a school teacher in rural schools of McDonough County and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Macomb.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2001, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with the Rev. Leon Nelson officiating. Burial was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester.
Memorial contributions may be made to Macomb First Baptist Church.
Leo A. Lamm
Leo A. "Buck" Lamm, 82, of Galesburg, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2001, in Galesburg Cottage Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1919, in Canton, the son of John and Myrtle Cook Lamm. He married Susie A. Marsh on Feb. 2, 1946, in Bushnell. She died March 23, 1992.
He is survived by one son, Roger (Linda) Lamm, Galesburg; four sisters, Evelyn Hallesey, Macomb, Lillian Kelly, Galesburg, Phyllis Shaleo, Conifer, Colo., and Doris Smith, Marseilles; and nieces and nephews.
He served in the Army during World War II.
He was a labor supervisor for Gunther Construction Company in Galesburg for 18 years and then for McDougal-Hartman Construction Company in Peoria for 16 years. He retired in 1970.
He was a member of Moose Lodge 880, Abingdon American Legion Post 381, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2257 and the Disabled American Veterans.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel, with David Scholl officiating.
Burial was in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, where military honors were accorded by Harry E. Wiles American Legion Post 381.
Memorials may be made to the Galesburg Rescue Mission.
Marie K. Hemminger
Funeral services for Marie K. Hemminger, 103, Media, were held Monday, Dec. 3, at 1 p.m. a Corman Memorial Home, Roseville. The Rev. John Deal officiated and interment was in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Mrs. Hemminger passed away Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at 1:55 a.m. in LaMoine Christian Nursing Home, Roseville. Memorials may be made to the Media United Presbyterian Church or to the nursing home’s activity department.
The daughter of Benjamin and Katherine Gutenkuntz Megal, she was born April 4, 1898, in Burlington, Iowa. She married Creigh C. Hemminger, Sept. 30, 1921, in Monmouth, who died Jan. 8, 1983.
Her parents and a brother also preceded her in death.
She leaves: a daughter, Mary Lee (Earl) Taylor of Media; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Hemminger was born and raised in Des Moines County, Iowa. She graduated from Burlington High School and attended Parsons College. Following her marriage, she moved in 1939 to Media Township where she resided until she entered the nursing home.
She attended the Media United Presbyterian Church where she was an elder and a trustee, and a member of the Beulah Missionary Society. Mrs. Hemminger was also a member of the Media Community Club.
Ruth Painter
Ruth A. Painter, 83, of Rushville, formerly of London Mills, died at 2:18 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, 2001, at Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.
Born Oct. 7, 1918, near London Mills to Fred T. and Ada Lewis Ulm, she married Dwight H. Painter on Dec. 24, 1938, in London Mills. He died Aug. 31, 1973.
She also was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Surviving are one daughter, Deanna (David) Peterman of Astoria; one grandson, Jeffrey (Dena) Wilcoxen of Abingdon; five step-grandchildren, including Penny (Rodney) Bollinger of Marquette Heights; 12 step-great-grandchildren; 10 step-great-great-grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews.
She worked at Gale Products in Galesburg and C&R Market in London Mills before retiring in 1980. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2001 at West Midway Cemetery near London Mills with the Rev. John Simpson officiating.
Arrangements were in charge of Worthington Funeral Home.

Pearl E. Blevins
Pearl E. Blevins, 77, Bakersfield, Calif., formerly of Galesburg, died at 8:45 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2002 at home.
She was born Nov. 25, 1924, in Galesburg, the daughter of Fred W. and Clara Ann Rebecca Schultz Greene.
She married Frank E. McDowell on Jan. 8, 1941, in Galesburg. She married Robert L. Blevins on Nov. 24, 1973, in Galesburg. He died Feb. 5, 1983.
Surviving are a son, Clifford Wayne McDowell, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Carol Anne Cole, Bakersfield, and Dixie Lee Weller, Green Castle, Va.; a brother Harold Greene, Galesburg, and a sister, Gladys Anderson, Abingdon; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and a grandchild.
She lived in Galesburg most of her life.
She worked as an assembler at the former Outboard Marine Corp., Gale Products Division, in Galesburg for more than 20 years, retiring in 1983.
Cremation was accorded. Services will be later.
Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
Mary B. Hanning
Mary B. Hanning, 71, of R.R. #1, Huntsville passed away at 7:50 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2002 at the Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville. She was born on Thursday, June 4, 1931 in Rushville to the late Joseph and Pauline (Greenleaf) Bovey. She married Glen R. Hanning Sept. 27, 1952 at the First Christian Church in Rushville. He Survives.
She is survived by: three daughters, Bonnie (David) Childress, Danville, Peggy (Michael) Dillon, Gaffney, S.C. and Nancy (Richard) Willis, Clinton, Iowa; two sons, Danny (Janet) Hanning, Huntsville and Robert Hanning, Macomb; twelve grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one brother, John Bovey of Iowa City, Iowa.
She attended Ill. State University in Normal and graduated from Western Ill. University in Macomb. She taught varies grades at Southeastern School Dist. and Schuyler School Dist. in Rushville many years before retiring. She was a member of the First Christian Church "Disciple of Christ” of Rushville, teaching Sunday school for many years. She was a charter member & secretary for many years of the Ill. Association for advancement of Archaeology, a member of Siloam Springs Earth Science Club serving as secretary, president, vice president, and editor, a member of Geodeland Earth Science Club serving as director and secretary, a member of Midwest Federation of Mineralogical and Geological Societies serving as president, vice president, state director and presently serving as secretary, a director of American Mineralogical and Geological Societies, a member of Two Rivers Archeological Societies serving as secretary, a member of Mississippi Valley Archeological Society serving as secretary, gave programs on rocks and minerals for many school classes and civic groups. She also taught square dancing classes for Spoon River College and many 4-H Clubs.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002 at the First Christian Church in Rushville with Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in the Huntsville Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Snyder’s Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home or the Schuyler Education Foundation.
Harry A. Snowden
Harry A. Snowden, 78, Industry, died at 4 a.m. Thursday, July 4, 2002, at McDonough District Hospital. He was born Tuesday, May 6, 1924, in Industry, the son of Thomas Adams and Verna Blanche (Lawyer) Snowden. He married Marilyn A. Fowler July 16, 1949, in Macomb. She survives.
He is also survived by two daughters, Debra (Harold) Steele, Glasford, and Diane (Scott) Bagley, Adair; four grandchildren, Cassandra and Matthew Steele, and Justin and Ethan Bagley; and five sisters, Thelma Mater, Ft. Lumpton, Colo., Opal Howard, Peoria, Jane Wilson, Aurora, Colo., Margie Frakes, Berthoud, Colo., and Kathryn McKee, Industry.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Neil Snowden, and two sisters, Velma Halberg and Nadine Eastin.
He worked as a mechanic for NTN Bower for many years, retiring in 1989. Harry was a member of Macomb Elks Lodge #401 and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Cremation was accorded. Graveside services were held Wednesday, July 10, 2002, at the lndustry Cemetery, Industry, with David Haney officiating. The Worthington Funeral Home, Rushville, was in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be given to Ducks Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey Federation or the Industry Rescue Squad.
George W. Butterfield Sr.
George W. Butterfield Sr., 93, LaHarpe, formerly of Blandinsville, died at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2002, at the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center, LaHarpe.
He was born Nov. 5, 1908, in Blandinsville, the son of David Ezra "Frank” and Pearl Amelia (Herzog) Butterfield. He married Mary E. Abbott Jan. 8, 1934, in Blandinsville. She died Oct. 6, 2002.
He is survived by two daughters, Beverly (Paul) Anderson, LaHarpe, and Jeanne (Clifford) Shipman, Blandinsville; one son, George (Patsy) Butterfield Jr., Blandinsville; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
George was a farmer in the Blandinsville area for many years, retiring from farming in 1965. He later worked at the B & R Market and at Highway Lanes Bowling Alley, Blandinsville, with his son, George Jr. He was a member of the First Christian Church, Blandinsville, and was an avid Cubs fan and Thunder football fan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Blandinsville, with the Rev. A. Lee Unger officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002. There will be no family visitation.
Memorials may be made to either the LaHarpe-Davier Health Care Center or the First Christian Church, Blandinsville.
