52-year-old former Fairfield resident, Michael Savage of Chicago died at 9:26 p.m. on Thursday, June 24, 2004 following a whitewater rafting accident in Alaska.
Survivors include his mother, Maureen Savage, now residing in Lake Zurich, Il., a brother, Chuck Savage of Jacksonville, IL; a sister, Cynthia Osowski, of Barrington, Il; nephews Dan, Tim and Kevin Savage; and nieces Joan Savage, Kari and Anna Osowski and his partner Andy Swan of Chicago.
A Memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 15, at 1:30 p.m. at the Apostolic Church of God, in Chicago.
Visitation will be held from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at St. Gertrude’s Church, in Chicago. Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 2 at St. Gertrude’s. Burial will be private.

83-year-old former Wayne County resident, Doris Jean Jones of Indianapolis, IN died at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 27, 2004 in Indianapolis, IN.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynn Farmer of Indianapolis, IN; two brothers, Rolland Scott of Calvert City, KY and Max Scott of Fairfield, and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Richard W. Dye
62-year-old Fairfield resident, Richard W. Dye died at 1:55 Monday afternoon, June 28, 2004 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital following an apparent heart attack.
He served on the Fairfield Community High School Board, and previously had served as chairman of the Wayne County Board. Dye had been employed as an attendant at the Gas for Less Service Station in Fairfield.
Survivors are his wife, Sue of Fairfield, a son, Richard Dale Ray, and a daughter, Amanda' four brothers, James and George Dye of Fairfield, Charles Dye of Texas and Danny Dye of California.
Funeral services for Richard W. Dye will be 10 a.m. Thursday at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 til 8 Wednesday evening at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Dorothy Maxine Borah Scherer
83-year-old Mount Erie native, Dorothy Maxine Borah Scherer of Walnut Creek Californiadied at 8:50 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 in the John Murrah Hospital in Walnut Creek, Calif. She had worked for the Bond Department of the U.S. Treasury in Chiago and taught Social Studies, Biology and P.E. at the high school level in Brownstown, Il., and Olney, Ill.
Survivors include three sons, Stephen Eugene Scherer of Bel-Air, Calif., Phillip Edward Scherer of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Joseph Arthur Scherer of Oakland, Calif. Four grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Dorothy Maxine Borah Scherer will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the West United Methodist Church in Mount Erie with burial in the Church Cemetery.

95-year-old former Dahlgren resident, Ruby Holt died at 8:15 Saturday morning, June 26, 2004 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Fla. She had owned and operated Mound City Furniture Store in Mount Vernon for many years, and from 1960 until 1984, she served as Administrative Assistant for the Easter Seal Society in Atlanta, Georgia.
Survivors include daughtrs, Joyce Pickering of Arlinigton, Va., and Rozan Kuenz of Orlando, Fla., nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

60 year old Fairfield resident, Norma Sue Xanders, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, July 3rd, 2004 at the Flora Pavilion Nursing Center. She was a member of the Epsilon Sigma Alpha-Gamma Chi Chapter.
Surviving are a daughter, Renee McCoy of Fishers, Indiana; 2 sisters, Betty McCullough of Fairfield and Elnora Deisher of Mt. Carmel; and 2 grandsons.
The body was cremated, and private services will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation.
