Funeral services for Ruth Kemp, Carmi, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 16, 2002 at Kittinger-Fair Funeral Home in Carmi, the Rev. Don Rhein officiating.
Barbara Karger played special musical selections. Pallbearers were Allen Kemp, David Kemp, Gary Smith, Eric Duvall, Zachary Kemp, Adam Willis, Aaron Willis and Ralph Duvall. Burial was at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi.

Funeral services for Joy M. Johnson of Norris City were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 3, 2001 at the Norris City Church of God, the Rev. Lyle Culp officiating.
Randy Mills was the pianist. Sandra Bolte, Stephen Mills and Randy Mills sang "City of Gold" and "Because He Lives." Casketbearers were Stephen Mills, Rodney Mills, Robert Hesterly, Bryce Vinson, Ken McKenzie, Jeff McKenzie, Jay Rains, Scott Rains, John Bailey, Matt Sourant and Mark Sourant.
Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Norris City. The Campbell Funeral Chapel in Norris City was in charge of arrangements.
Ruby M. Sanders

Funeral services for Ruby M. Sanders of Fort Myers, Fla. were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 24, 2001 at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi, Robby King officiating.
Margaret Starling delivered the eulogy.
Christy King was the pianist and accompanied Connie Saunders, Tom and Beth Cook as they sang "Amazing Grace."
Casketbearers were Art Saunders, Bill Saunders, Alan Saunders and Andrew Reingardt. Burial was at Maple Ridge Cemetery near Carmi.
Roy Miller
Beecher City
Roy T. Miller, 85, of Beecher City died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday (March 28, 2001) at his residence near Beecher City.
Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday April 2, in the Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Beecher City. Leonard R. Jones officiated. Visitation Sunday. Burial was in Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson with military rites performed by V.F.W. Post #4829 of Shelbyville. Memorials can be made to the Donor's Choice.
Mr. Miller was born Nov. 22, 1915 in Moultrie Co., the son of Roy Frederick and Nonia Adams Miller. He married Jacqueline M. Moore June 10, 1944 in Bennetsville, SC. She died Sept. 23, 1990.
Surviving are sons, Roy W. Miller and friend Rosie Appel of Sullivan, Thomas E. Miller and wife Judith of Warren, MI., and Jerry J. Miller and wife Jeri of Houston, TX; brothers, Percy Miller of Tower Hill and Ed Miller of Fancher; sister, June Crockett of Shelbyville; five grandchildren; two step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and two step-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; sister, Opal Miller; and brothers, Bill and Vernon Miller.
Mr. Miller was a member of the National Rifle Association, AARP and was affiliated with the First Assembly of God Church of St. Elmo. He served in the United States Army during W. W. II in Hawaii and the Philippines. He farmed nearly his entire life and formerly was employed at Oliver Corporation in Shelbyville and Fedders Corporation in Effingham.

Joseph F. "Joey" Walk, Jr. 20 years old of rural Neoga, Illinois, passed away Sunday afternoon at the Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. Death was due to injuries he received in an automobile accident Tuesday, March 27. Arrangements are incomplete, due to Organ donations, at the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga.

Mildred Hill, 98, of Shelbyville died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday (April 1, 2001) in Sheryl's Place, Shelbyville.
She was born Nov. 15, 1902 in Shelby Co., the daughter of William and Nellie Archey Dill.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lockart & Sons Funeral Home, Shelbyville with the Rev. John Hippard officiating. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until service time. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be made to Sheryl's Place.
Surviving are niece, Vivian "Toots" Dill of Shelbyville; great-nephew, Steve Dill of Decatur; great-great nephew, Stuart Dill serving in the U.S. Marine Corps; great-great niece, Melanie Rhoades of Broomfield, CO.; and cousin, Julia Downing of Decatur.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Baptist Church. She was a retired clerk for the New York Central Railroad in Indianapolis.

Joseph Foster "Joey" Walk, Jr., 20, of Neoga, died Sunday Afternoon (April 1, 2001) in Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday April 5, in St. Michael, The Archangel Church, Sigel, with Fr. Robert DeGrand and Fr. John Titus officiating. Burial will be at St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel. Visitation will be 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday April 4. A wake services will be at 7 p.m. in St. Michael, The Archangel Church. Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials can be made to St. Michael Schools, Sigel, Joey Walk Memorial Scholarship at Lake Land College, or Weight Lifting Department at the Neoga High School.
He was born Dec. 13, 1980 in Effingham, the daughter of Joseph Foster and Catherine M. (Niemerg) Walk, Sr.
Surviving are parents; sister, Jayne Walk; brothers, Ted Walk and Lee Walk, all of Neoga; and grandparents, Andrew and Martha Niemerg of Dieterich and Mary Walk of Teutopolis.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Foster and Mary Louise Walk.
Mr. Walk was a member of St. Michael, The Archangel Church, Sigel, and Phi Theta Kappa (National Honors Fraternity). He graduated from Neoga High School, class of 1999. He was a four year letterman in baseball and a three year letterman in baseball for Neoga High School.
Bert Anderson

Bert Anderson, 88, of Shelbyville, died at 8:15 p.m. Tuesday (April 3, 2001) in Shelbyville Manor.
Following cremation there will be no visitation or services. Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Anderson was born on July 27, 1912 in Beason, Illinois, the son of Oscar Alan and Bertha Keene Anderson. He married Adelia B. Lowry on January 6, 1933 in Taylorville. She survives.
Also surviving are children, Shirley Shaw and husband Dick of Whittier, CA, Donna Chaney and husband Larry of Ada, OH, Georgia Roberts and husband Kenny of Chattanooga,TN; Mike Anderson and wife Darlene of Wickenburg, AZ, Patrick Anderson and wife Julie of Clinton, 15 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; nieces, Anna Belle Wines of Dallas, TX and Patsy Eversole and husband Joe of Shelbyville; and nephew, Emmett Martz and wife Lillian of Huntsville, AL.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Harry Anderson; sister, Fern Gertrude May; and two half brothers, Carl and Ed Snyder.
Mr. Anderson was a machine operator for Oliver Corporation, Shelbyville, for 26 years and later retired from P & H Manufacturing, Shelbyville. He was a 42-year member of Moose Lodge #1294 of Shelbyville and a loyal Cub fan.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Tomi Marie Milligan, 23, of Cowden died Tuesday (April 3, 2001) at 10:45 a.m. due to injuries received in a car accident.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Lockart & Sons Funeral Home in Cowden with the Rev. Darrell Hinkle officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Cowden. Memorials can be made to the daughters, Shayla Milligan and Cheyanne Carlock.
She was born April 18, 1977 in Shelbyville, the daughter of James E. and Brenda L. Bird Milligan.
Surviving are her mother, Brenda Milligan of Cowden, father and step-mother, James and Jill Milligan of Shelbyville; daughters, Shayla Marie Milligan and Cheyanne Star Carlock both of Cowden; fiancee, Louis Carlock, Jr. of Cowden; brother, James Eugene Milligan and wife Sherri of Watson; half-sister, Jamie Milligan; half-brother, Brett Milligan both of Shelbyville; grandparents, Irene Milligan of Shelbyville, Pat Bird of Cowden; and step grandparents, Charles and Pat Eschbaugh of Shelbyville; nephew, James Eugene (Trey) Milligan III of Mattoon; step-niece, Chrissa Whitten of Watson; step nephew, Dustin Whitten of Watson; and special Friends, Valerie and Chris Harvey of Mattoon.
She was a graduate of the Cowden High School and attended Lakeland College. She was employed at Wal-Mart in Effingham.
