Peggy Clark Milam

70 year old Somerville, Texas resident, formerly of Flora, Peggy Clark Milam, died at 6:17 a.m. Thursday, July 1st, 2004 at Cornerstone Hospital in Austin, Texas.

Surviving are her husband Neal; 2 daughters, Theresa Workman of Flora and Brenda Tatum of Geff; 2 brothers, Robert P. Clark of Springfield, Il. and James F. Clark of Blytheville, Arkansas; 4 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Peggy Clark Milam will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7th at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora. Burial in St. Stephen's Cemetery at Flora.

Visitation from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 7th until the time of service at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.

Harry S. Silliman

85 year old Crossville resident, Harry S. Silliman, died Friday, July 2nd, 2004 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. He was a WW II and Korean War Navy veteran.

Surviving are a son, Stephen of Roachdale, Indiana; a step-son, Doug Stucky of Carmi; and 4 grandchildren.

The body was cremated, and a gathering of family and friends will be held at a later date. The Cook Funeral Chapel in Crossville is in charge of the arrangements.

Margaret Keller

75 year old Grayville resident, Margaret Keller, died Friday, July 2nd, 2004 at Meadowood Nursing Home in Grayville. She was a retired glass worker.

Surviving are a son, Anthony Tomasetti of Grayville; 2 brothers, Clark W. and Paul M. Keller, both of Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania; 3 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Margaret Keller will be held Tuesday, July 6th at Green wood Memorial Park in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.

The Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville is in charge of the local arrangements.

Alvin L. Stitch

71-year-old Rt. 2 Dahlgren resident, Alvin L. Stitch died at 7:20 Wednesday evening, June 30, 2004. A U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Frances Stitch; sons, Kelly Dean Stitch of Dahlgren and Anthony Stitch of Bonnie, Il., a step-son, Barry Marquis of Saco, Mo., daughters, Pam Ford of Moount Vernon and Stacey Keen of Dahlgren; a special friend, Eric Clark; sisters, Bernetta Rapp ofDahlgren and Helen Clements of Palatine, Il., ten grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Alvin L. Stitch will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at St. John the Bapist Church in Piopolis with burial in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 til 8 Friday evening, July 2, at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association Hospice or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral H ome in McLeansboro.

Helen E. Merrick Coverstone Farmer

89-year-old Geff resident, Helen E. Merrick Coverstone Farmer died at 3:38 Thursday morning, July 1, 2004, at Fairfield Memorial Hospital. She was a machine operator at General Motors in Flint MIchigan for ten years. She also worked at Wabash Area Development, Inc. for four years and at Way-Fair Nursing Home in Fairfield for four years.

Survivors include her husband, Irvin Farmer of Geff; a step-son, Gerald Farmer of Chillicothe, Ill., 18 nieces and 8 nephews, plus four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Helen E. Merrick Coverstone Farmer will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne with burial in Brown Cemetery at Mount Erie.

Visitation will be from 6 til 8 Friday evening, July 2, at the Hosselton Funeral Home in Cisne.

Memorials may be made to the Comfort Room at Fairfield Memorials Hospital.

Dorothy Maxine Borah Scherer

83-year-old Mount Erie native, Dorothy Maxine Borah Scherer of Walnut Creek California died at 8:50 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2004 in the John Murrah Hospital in Walnut Creek, Calif. She had worked for the Bond Department of the U.S. Treasury in Chiago and taught Social Studies, Biology and P.E. at the high school level in Brownstown, Il., and Olney, Ill.

Survivors include three sons, Stephen Eugene Scherer of Bel-Air, Calif., Phillip Edward Scherer of Walnut Creek, Calif., and Joseph Arthur Scherer of Oakland, Calif. Four grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Dorothy Maxine Borah Scherer will be 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at the West United Methodist Church in Mount Erie with burial in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6 til 8 Friday evening, July 2, at the Summers Kistler Funeral Home in Olney.

Memorials may be made to the West United Methodist Church at Mount Erie.

Ruby Holt

95-year-old former Dahlgren resident, Ruby Holt died at 8:15 Saturday morning, June 26, 2004 at the Orlando Regional Medical Center in Orlando, Fla. She had owned and operated Mound City Furniture Store in Mount Vernon for many years, and from 1960 until 1984, she served as Administrative Assistant for the Easter Seal Society in Atlanta, Georgia.

Survivors include daughtrs, Joyce Pickering of Arlinigton, Va., and Rozan Kuenz of Orlando, Fla., nine grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ruby Holt will be 11 a.m. Monday, July 5, at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren wioth burialin the Oddfellows Cemetery at Dahlgren.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. Monday, July 5, until the time of service at the Gholson Funeral Home in Dahlgren.

Louella Fay Michels

83 year old Fairfield resident, Louella Fay Michels, died at 2:55 p.m. Friday, August 13th, 2004 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Surviving are 3 sons, Harvey Michels of Fairfield, Terry Lee Carter of Streeter, Il. and Joe Sloan of Seymour, Texas; 2 daughters, Rebecca Smith of Fairfield and Nancy Paul of Geff; a sister, Bernice Owen of Spokane, Washington; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Louella Fay Michels will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 17th at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 16th at Nale's Funeral Home in Fairfield.

J.L. Kinnear

74 year old Rt. 1 Broughton resident, J.L. Kinnear, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, August 13th, 2004 at his home.

Funeral arrangements are pending at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Robert Gordon "Bob" Farleigh

67-year-old Carmi resident, Robert Gordon "Bob" Farleigh died at 2:50 Wednesday afternoon, August 11, 2004 in the Emergency Room of Fairfield Memorial Hospital .

Among his survivors is his wife, Martha.

Services for Robert Gordon "Bob" Farleigh are pending at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Eulan S. Branch

64-year-old McLeansboro resident, Eulan S. Branch died at 4:34 Wednesday morning, August 11, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon. He was a retired repairman, working 32 years with Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville, Indiana. He also was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam conflict.

Surviving are his wife Frances; a son, Gregory of McLeansboro; 6 brother-in-laws, Wayne Knight, John M. Knight, David Knight and Dalton Knight all of Broughton, Victor Knight of McLeansboro and Marshall Knight of Ina; 4 sister-in-laws, Mrs. Lois Smith and Mrs. Pat Harrawood both of McLeansboro, Mrs. Fay Lee of Herrin, Il. and Mrs. Donna Young of Scottsburg, Indiana; 3 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Eulan S. Branch will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, August 14th at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro. Burial in Digby Hill Cemetery near Dale, Il. with graveside military rites by the McLeansboro American Legion Post #106.

Visitation from 5-8 p.m. Friday, August 13th at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, with Masonic rites at 7 p.m. by the Walpole Tuscon Lodge #630.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society, and will be accepted at the Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.

Howard Spicer

92-year-old Sims resident, Howard Spicer died at 9:35 Thursday evening, August 12, 2004 at Fairfield Memorial Hospital's Skilled Care Unit. He was a retired farmer.

Survivors include his wife, Doris Spicer; two sons, Carl and Marvin Spicer, both of Sims, a daughter, Jolene Gamblin of Evansville, Indiana; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services for Howard Spicer will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 15 at the Providence General Baptist Church in Johnsonville with burial in Weslie Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Saturday, August 14, at the Richardson Funeal Home in Wayne City.

The Richardson Funeral Home of Wayne City is in charge of all the arrangements.

Edna R. Bailey

94-year-old Fairfield resident, Edna R. Bailey died at 4:45 Wednesay afternoon, August 11, 2004 at Skilled Care Unit of Fairfield Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include a step-son, Bill Bailey of McLeansboro; five step-daughters, Leota Briggs of Albion, Nancy Frevert of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Fern Atwood, and Anna Hoffee, all of Fairfield, and Doris Burgenor of Olney; 17 step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services for Edna R. Bailey will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 16, at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield with burial in Maple Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from from 1 o'clock Monday, August 16 until the time of service at the Johnson Funeral Home in Fairfield.
