William Newman
formerly of Moweaqua
William John "Bill" Newman, 60, of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., formerly of Moweaqua, died Tuesday (July 24, 2001) in his home.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lake Havasu City. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Lietz Fraze Chapel, Lake Havasu City, with 7 p.m. rosary service. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Hospice of Havasu or LHC Humane Society.
Mr. Newman was born Dec. 22, 1940, in Moweaqua. He worked in building maintenance for Mohave County in Lake Havasu City. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda K. Newman; son, Anthony William and wife Gail Newman of Lake Havasu City; sisters, Patricia Collins of Macon; Alice Perryman and husband Sam of Moweaqua; Caren Burns of Moweaqua; canine companion, Molly. He appreciates the love and devotion of his nine nieces and 11 nephews.

Florence Bushur
Sigel
Florence M. Bushur, 80, Sigel, died at 1:35 p.m. Tuesday (July 24, 2001) at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sigel. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham, and one hour before services in the church. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Sigel. Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or donor's choice.
She was born Jan. 21, 1921 in Effingham County, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Hatke) Willenborg. She married Alvin F. Bushur Aug. 24, 1940. She preceded him in death 1989.
Surviving are sons Kenneth and wife Karen of Sigel; daughters, Madonna Teets of Montrose and Pauline Kinkelaar of Effingham; brothers, Ed and wife Bert Willenborg of Trilla, Paul and wife Margaret Williamborg of Neoga, and Gene Willenborg of Neoga; sisters, Leon Fearday of Neoga, Viola Bannick of Dieterich, and Theresa Wood of Pesotum; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, two brothers and one sister.

Marjorie Skusa
formerly of Shelbyville
Marjorie Kingston Skusa, 79, of Stewartsville, MO., died Monday (July 23, 2001) in Missouri.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, July 25. 2001 at Bram-Summerfield Funeral Home in Stewartsville, MO. Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27, 2001 in Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, IL.
Memorials may be made to the K-9 Search and Rescue Unit Inc. in care of the Bram-Summerfield Funeral Home. Neece Funeral Home in Franklin is in charge of local arrangements.
She was born Oct. 9, 1921 in Shelbyville, the daughter of Ray and Elva Stafford Kingston. On Nov. 28, 1941 she was united in marriage to Henry Ernest Skusa in St. Genevieve, MO. Her husband of 59 years survives.
Also surviving are one son, David Henry Skusa of Orlando, Fla., one daughter, Carol Jeanne Chelin of Murray, Neb.; three grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother: Joseph Kingston and one sister, Rita Hamilton.
She was a graduate of Shelbyville High School and Sparks Business College in Shelbyville. Mrs. Skusa was an accountant for Sears Roebuck in Shelbyville, Phillips Department Store in Omaha, Neb.; Chandler Oil Company, and Phillips Petroleum Co., both of Denver, CO. Mrs. Skusa lived in many places as she traveled the world with her husband, Henry, in his capacity as a Lt. Colonel in the United States Air Force. After his retirement from the Air Force, she was a homemaker and had lived in the Stewartsville, MO., area for over 25 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Easton, MO; the Order of The Eastern Star, Chapter 175 of Stewartsville, and the American Poetry Society. She volunteered her time to help with fundraising for the K-9 Search and Rescue Unit that serves the Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa four state area. She also volunteered at the Interfaith Community Services Center helping the elderly with their income tax preparation.

Walter Conklin
Neoga
Walter Hope Conklin Jr., 78, Neoga, died Wednesday (July 25, 2001).
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Johnson Funeral Home, Brookfield. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Hillside. Local arrangements by Swengel O'Dell Funeral Home, Neoga.
He was born March 29, 1923 in Madison, IL., the son of Walter Hope and Eva (Schrend) Conklin, Sr. He married Rose Andrys April 4, 1945 in Chicago.
Surviving are son, Walter Lee Conklin of Granite City, IL; sister, Mrs. Eva Mae Cwik of Kentland, Ind.; one grand daughter; and three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother, LeRoy Conklin.
He was a retired Chicago city police officer after 25 years of service and served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #7, in Chicago.

Howard Alward
Moweaqua
Howard Grant Alward, 90, of Moweaqua died 1:20 p.m. Thursday (July 26, 2001) in his home.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday in Westside Cemetery, Moweaqua. There will be no visitation. Seitz Funeral Home, Moweaqua, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or Heart Association.
Mr. Alward was born May 4, 1911, in Moweaqua, a son of George W. and Florence Cutler Alward. He married Ruth Beery in 1943 in Chicago. She preceded him in death in February 1985.
Surviving are his sons, Gary and wife Brenda of Moweaqua; Phillip and wife Vicki of Decatur; Bradford of Decatur; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Sebo Dapper of Champaign; Grant Alward of St. Louis; Timothy of Orlando, Fla.; Andrew of Decatur; Matthew of Moweaqua; great-grandchildren, Erin and Megan Dapper of Champaign; special friend, Mary Ellen McDaniel of Moweaqua.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brother, Kenneth; and sisters, Lenora, Gertrude, Mary, Mabel and Crystal.
Mr. Alward graduated from Decatur High School and attended Northwestern University and Eureka College. He was an implement dealer in Shelbyville and Findlay and retired from farming after many years in Moweaqua. He made many contributions to agricultural engineering.

Fred Henne
formerly of Shelbyville
Fred C. Henne, 49, of Oreana, IL, formerly of Shelbyville, died at 4:20 p.m. Thursday (July 26, 2001) in the Aspen Ridge Care Center in Decatur.
Mr. Henne was born Oct. 16, 1951 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of T. Fred and Frances Gertrude Shepard Henne.
He graduated from Shelbyville High School and attended Richland Community College in Decatur. He was employed at Bridgestone-Firestone Tire Company in Decatur, IL for 23 years. He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and attended Mound Chapel Church of God.
Surviving are his fiancee, Becky Etherton, of Decatur and friends Charles and Oma Condiff of Oreana,IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 30, 2001 in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Pastor Chuck Stine will officiate. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of the service on Monday. Military Rites will be performed by VFW Post 4829 of Shelbyville.
Arrangements are by Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Shelbyville.

George Davis
Findlay
George A. Davis, 88, Findlay, died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday (July 26, 2001) at his residence.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2001 at Hilligoss Shrader Funeral Home with Dr. Jay Adrian & Dr. Richard Kim officiating. Visitation was held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 29 at funeral home, with a Masonic Service held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial was be in the Hammond Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Lincolnland Hospice Unit.
He was born May 3, 1913 in West Point, TN, the son of Frank and Nellie Robison Davis. He married Ella Isabell Reeves on April 5, 1937 in Florence, Ala. She survives.
Other survivors include son, George Davis, Jr. of Sidney, IL, daughters, Linda Johnson of Findlay, Betty Lefever of Decatur, Carol Erickson of Satellite Beach, Fla., and 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces; and nephews.
He was preceded by two brothers and one infant sister.
Mr. Davis was a member of the First Baptist Church of Atwood. He was a retired steamfitter and welder for Local #65, Plumbers and Pipe fitters Union, Decatur. He was a 50-year member of the Sheffield, AL Masonic Lodge.

Billie West
Findlay
Billie Darrell West, 64, of Findlay, formerly of Decatur, died 4:33 a.m. Sunday (July 29, 2001) in St. Mary's Hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday in Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Homes with visitation 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in North Fork Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. Memorials can be made to American Heart Association.
Mr. West was born Jan. 4, 1937, the son of Carl 0. and Marie Miller West. He married Jeanine S. Vance Nov. 30, 1958, in Decatur.
Surviving are his wife; sons, Randall L. West and wife Shari of Illiopolis; William C. West of Springfield; grandchildren, Kristi Lowery and husband Trevor of Decatur; Bryan West of Decatur; Austin West of Illiopolis; brother, Dale West; sisters, Eileen Hinton, Delores Hinton and Sue Lindsey, all of Decatur; sister-in-law, Linda Bosserman of S.C.; mother-in-law, Margie Vance of Shelbyville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester and Carl A. and sister, Noreen Fellwock.
He was employed by Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. for 28 years, retiring in 1997. He served in the Navy and formerly belonged to American Legion Post #105. Mr. West was a former member of Moose Lodge. He loved the outdoors, devoting time to camping and fishing and was a NASCAR fan.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's Hospital for their excellent care and support. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Elva Collins
Herrick
Elva Lena Collins, 89, Herrick, died Friday, July, 27, at 6:33 p.m. at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham.
Funeral services were Monday, July 30, at 11 a.m. at Graveside Private, services in Myers, Cemetery, Herrick. There will be no visitation. Burial were in Myers Cemetery, Herrick.
She was born Wednesday, June 12, 1912, in Rural Warrensburg, the child of John E. and Elva Lena (Hubbard) Albert. She married Ivel Collins in 1934. He died 1989.
Survived by sons, Mr. Ronald (wife Norma) Collins of Herrick, Mr. Larry (Wife Janice) Collins of Herrick, Mr. Jerry (Wife Wendy) Collins of Conyers, GA.; daughter, Mrs. Robert (Kay ) Griffin of Princeton, Ind.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two step-children; and one step great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by parents, four sisters, and two brothers.
Mrs. Collins worked at Drake Electrical and as a Legal Secretary and was a member of Herrick Christian Church. She was a graduate of Browns Business College.
