Don Swiney, 88, of Shelbyville, died at 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2002 in Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday in Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville with Dr. Paul Pryor officiating. Visitation from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville. Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Unit of Shelbyville Manor or Lincolnland Hospice.
Mr. Swiney was born on April 12, 1913 near Findlay, the son of George William and Lola Essie Bennett Swiney. He was a retired farmer, a member of the First Christian Church of Shelbyville and a graduate of Bethany High School, Class of 1932. He married June Cordray on September 4, 1937. She died on November 28, 1995.
Surviving are his sons, Ron Swiney of St. Louis, MO and Gary Roger Swiney and wife Wanda of Shelbyville; daughters, Pat Bendler and husband Don of Shelbyville and Debra Schouten and husband Fred of Manteno; brothers, Robert Swiney of Decatur and William Jess Swiney and wife Helen of St. Louis, MO; sister-in-laws, Hester Swiney of Columbus, Nebraska and Helen Banks of Sullivan; ten grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife June; brother, George Dean Swiney; two sisters, Ada M. Arras and Geraldine L. Niles and one great grandchild.

James Everett Bailey
Shelbyville
James Everett Bailey, 82, of Shelbyville, formerly of Dalton City and De Soto, Missouri, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday January 7, 2002 in Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville.

Rose Doris Allison
Assumption
Rose Doris Allison, 93, of Assumption, died at 9:55 p.m. on Saturday in the Taylorville Care Center.
Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Seitz Funeral Home Assumption with visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Old Stonington Cemetery in Stonington.
Memorials may be made to Assumption EMTS or Assumption Fire Department.
Mrs. Allison was born in Moweaqua on February 2, 1908, the daughter of Herman and Mildred Thompson Wempen.
She formerly worked as a nursery attendant in Rose Knoll Gardens in Assumption. She was a member of the Assumption Christian Church.
She married Herman Earl Allison on December 25, 1927 in Taylorville. He preceded her in death on September 12, 1952.
Surviving are her sons Dean and wife Christine of Long Valley, NJ; Leonard of Decatur, LeLand and wife Peggy of Assumption. Daughters: Louise Allison of Decatur, Lois Hart of Eureka; Doris and husband J. Leroy Poiriez of Normal. Grandchildren, Linda Kimber, Ann Selvey, Christine Blackburn, Debbie Zubcic, Allison Keating, Caron Hibbens, Kathy Martin, Julie Morris, Jennifer O'Rear, Andrew Allison, Ryan Allison, Ryan Allison, Rob Allison, Darin Allison, Brian Allison, Kelly Allison, 25 Great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and one sister.

Goldie C. Wills
Beecher City
Goldie C. Wills, 88, of Beecher City, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2002 in Olivewood Health Care Center in Shelbyville.
Mrs. Wills was born on October 18, 1913 at Galto, Illinois, the daughter of Theodore and Ethel Biggs Nohren Sr.
She operated a dairy farm with her husband and sons until 1998. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She married Harlyn E. Wills December 30, 1933 in Shelbyville and he passed away in 1974.
Surviving are her sons Johnny W. Wills and wife Doris and Larry Donald Wills and wife Grace, both of Beecher City; daughter Bonita Joan Maudlin and husband Paul of Hoffman Estates, IL; six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, brothers: Theodore (Tuck) Nohren Jr. and wife Evelyn of Shelbyville, Warren M. (Bush) Nohren and wife Lenora of Tower Hill, Ward Nohren and wife Anita of Lakewood, Robert Nohren and wife Betty of Shelbyville, Montelle J. (Nip) Nohren of Windsor sister Wandalee Forner and husband Bob of Jackson, MI.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlyn, her parents, brothers: Wilbur Nohren, John Edward Nohren and Merrill Nohren; sister Florence Monroe and sister-in-laws Helen Nohren and Elsie Nohren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday January 6, 2002 in Lockart and Sons Funeral Home in Beecher City. Rev. Darrell Hinkle will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time on Sunday. Burial will be in Beecher City Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

Kristie Cordell
CHARLESTON - Kristie Irene Cordell, 42, of Charleston died at 7:30 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 13, 2000) at her residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Stewart Carroll Funeral Home in Paris. Burial will be in Edgar Cemetery, Paris. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. She was born Oct. 30, 1957, in Paris, the daughter of George W. and Anita Belle Nail.
Survivors include her fiance, Alan Ueleke of Charleston; sons Doug and Jonah Cordell, both of Paris; a daughter, Anita Cook of Paris; brothers Eddie Nail of Terre Haute, Ind., Mike Nail of Tokyo, Japan, and Dave Moore of Decatur; sisters Twanna Plummer of Elwood, Ind., Gwen Young of Paxton, and Teresa and Tieronna Moore, both of Decatur; stepmother Viola Nail of Decatur; and two grandchildren.
Ms. Cordell was a caregiver at the Human Resource Center in Paris.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.

Leland Snearley
GREENUP - Leland "Jack" Snearley, 97, of Greenup formerly of Casey, died at 7:55 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 13, 2000) at the Cumberland Nursing Center in Greenup.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. today at the Walnut Cemetery with the Rev. Lowell Kibler officiating. The Markwell and Son Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
He was born May 22, 1903, in Casey, the son of Walter and Margaret Alice Adamson Snearley. Survivors include nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mr. Snearley was a retired farmer.
Memorials may be made to the Cumberland Nursing Center Activity Fund.

Lillian Welsh
Lillian R. Welsh, age 94, of Mattoon, passed away at 1:18 p.m. on Monday, August 14, 2000, at her residence.
The mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning at the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Parish Center with Father Herman J. Niebrugge officiating. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the Schilling Funeral Home. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00 p.m. and will be followed by the Daughters of Isabella Rites.
Lillian was born in Shumway on November 12, 1905, a daughter of Ed and Martha Naab Richter. She married Robert J. Welsh on December 10, 1925. He preceded her in death on June 30, 1970.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Phyllis Rita) Roytek Jr., Mrs. Don (Dorothy) Dole, and Mrs. Jack (Joan) Record, all of Mattoon; two sisters, Clara Richter of Lerna, and Mrs. Vincent (Hazel) Welsh of Gays; eleven grandchildren, Jim Roytek, Bill Dole, Mike Dole, Marty Dole, Chris Dole, Jeff Dole, all of Mattoon, Sally Eck of New Palestine, Ind., Susan Record of Champaign, Sheila Record, Shady Raboin, both Mattoon and Rush Record of Champaign and eight great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Mrs. Welsh was retired farmer and homemaker. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church and a charter member of the Daughters of Isabella.
Memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Parents Guild or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Wilma Gibbs
MATTOON - Wilma Lois Gibbs, 82, of Mattoon, died at 9:10 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 12, 2000) at the Mattoon Health Care Center.
The graveside funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Campground Cemetery with the Rev. Derold R. Doughty officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday morning at the Schilling Funeral Home.
She was born July 4, 1918, in Mattoon, the daughter of Marion and Myrtle McNeal Gibbs.Surviving are one niece, Pat Anglin of White Heath; special friend, Mary Shields of Mattoon; and several great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
Miss Gibbs worked for Brown Shoe Company and was a member of the First Apostolic Church.
Memorials may be made to the First Apostolic Church Building Fund.

Muriel Harmon
ARTHUR - Murial Dorothea Harmon, 86, of Arthur, died at 8:40 a.m. Saturday (August 12, 2000) at the Arthur Home.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Arthur United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Elder officiating. Burial will be at the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Shrader Funeral Home in Arthur.
She was born Aug. 26, 1913, in Lovington, the daughter of Charles W. and Lydia J. Schuetz Casteel. She married Glen L. "Punk" Harmon in 1946. He died in 1980.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Harmon of Streator and Joyce Jurgens of Arthur; three brothers, Charles Casteel, Richard Casteel and John Casteel, all of Lovington; one sister, Rosemary Wood of Sullivan; and three grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters.
Mrs. Harmon was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church, Moultrie County Historical Society and Douglas County Republican Women.
Memorials may be made to the Arthur United Methodist Church.

Claudia A. Overbay
Claudia A. Overbay, 93, of Mattoon, died 3:52 P.M. Saturday, August 12, 2000 at Imboden Creek Living Center, Decatur, Illinois.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 15, 2000, 11:00 A.M., at First United Methodist Church, Mattoon, Il. Visitation will be Monday, August 14, 2000 from 4 to 7 P.M. at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service on Tuesday at the church. Eastern Star Services will be at 7:00 P.M. Monday. Burial will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery, Mattoon, IL. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Mattoon, Illinois.
Claudia was born December 4, 1906 in Cold Spring Township south of Pana, Illinois, the daughter of John and Sara (Guthrie) Gatons. She married Roscoe H. Overbay in 1942, who preceded her in death in April, 1968.
Claudia graduated from Pana High School in 1927, and Huber Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Pana, 1930. She then went on to complete post-graduate study in obstetrical nursing at Chicago Lying-In, Chicago, Il. She was active as a registered nurse for over 50 years. She worked in Vandalia Hospital, Mattoon Memorial Hospital and the IOOF Home in Mattoon.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mattoon, Service Sunday School Class, and the Mary Circle of the First United Methodist Women's Society. She was Past Worthy Matron of Elect Lady No. 40 Eastern Star, and held numerous offices over the years. She was also Past Worthy High Priestess of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She belonged to the Rebekah's of Mattoon, Royal Neighbors of America (60 year member), Ladies' Auxiliary to the Veteran's of Foreign War No 4325, Amarenth Fidelity Court No 20 of Shelbyville, Il., Coles Country Home Extension Association, and Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital Guild.
She is survived by her daughter Dr. Mary Jane Linton and husband Robert of Decatur, Illinois. Grandchildren Sara and Mark Linton of Decatur, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Roscoe, three brothers and two sisters.
Claudia was a beautiful person who cared for and touched many lives. Her wisdom and sense of humor will never be forgotten. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who knew her.

Blanche Potsch
MATTOON - Blanche Potsch, age 88, of Mattoon, passed away at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2000 at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2000 at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, with Reverend Dale Beck officiating. Interment will be in Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Blanche Potsch was born June 4, 1912 at Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of Emil J. and Rose Raz Kalus. She married John P. Potsch, Sr. January 22, 1942 at Louisiana, Missouri, he preceded her in death January 29, 1994. Surviving are two sons, John P. Potsch, Jr. of Mattoon and Ronald A. Potsch of Charleston; a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Van Cura of Riverside, Illinois and five grandchildren, Johnna Howson, John P. Potsch III, Christopher, Elisabeth and Anna Corinne Potsch.
Mrs. Potsch was a retired legal secretary. She was a life member of the Parent Teacher Association and was an active worker with the American Cancer Society to which memorial contributions may be made.
