Michael Plunkett
CHARLESTON - Michael A. Plunkett, 69, of Charleston, died at 11:55 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 3, 2000) at his residence.
He was born March 6, 1931, in Peoria, the son of Roy and Laura Barco Plunkett. He married Virginia Smart in 1955; she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Daniel Plunkett of Aston, Pa.; two daughters, Mrs. Daniel (Kathleen) Carlin of S. Hamilton, Mass. and Mrs. Steven (Laura) Liszewski of Arlington, Heights; 1 half brother, Thomas Plunkett; 1 half sister, Mrs. Joseph (Kathleen) Brown of LasVegas, Nev.; stepmother, Eileen Plunkett of LasVegas, Nev.; four grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents.
Attorney Plunkett had his own legal practice Plunkett Law Office in Charleston and graduated from Notre Dame, receiving his law degree from St. Louis University. He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War, a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, a fourth degree Knights of Columbus, a member of the Illinois Bar Association and A.B.U.C.S.

Joseph VanHyfte
ARCOLA - Joseph Bernard VanHyfte, 71, of Arcola, formerly of Silvis, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2000) at the Arcola Healthcare Center.
He was born Sept. 21, 1928, in Garnett, Kan., a son of Alphonse and Mable Crosier VanHyfte.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Mr. VanHyfte was a mechanic for International Harvester in East Moline. He was a member of the Catholic Church and an army veteran of the Korean War.
Roanna Wise
TOLONO - Roanna Wise, 45, of Tolono, died at 2:19 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 2, 2000) at the Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana.
She was born Jan. 27, 1955, in Terre Haute, Ind., the daughter of Edward Peveler and Lila Lee Cooley. She married Charles Wise in 1987; he survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Lila Watts of Tuscola; four daughters, Debrah Crowl of Ivesdale, Malinda Wise of Urbana, Kande Wise at home and Tara Hopper of Marshall, Texas; two brothers, Ricky Todd Peveler of Indiana and Gregg Watts of Westville; two sisters, Crystal Bailey of Homosassa, Fla., and Marsha Reed of LeRoy; and 11 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father and one brother.
Mrs. Wise was an LPN, and a member of the New Life of Champaign United Pentecostal Church and the Illinois Nurses Association.

Gladys Hansen
MATTOON - Gladys Dorothy Hansen, 91, of Mattoon, died at 10 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2000) at Mattoon Health Care Center.
She was born March 5, 1909, in Chicago, the daughter of Fred and Dorothy Mae Kendall Fowler. She married Harvey Hansen in 1928; he died in 1994. Surviving are one daughter, Dorthe Coleman of Mattoon; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one brother.
Mrs. Hansen had worked for Bidwell Candy and Brown Shoe Company. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Jesse Maxwell
MARTINSVILLE - Jesse Raymond Maxwell, 87, of Martinsville, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2000) at his residence.
He was born March 3, 1913, in Sullivan, Ind., the son of Charles and Mary Turner Maxwell. He married Bernice Crutchfield Maxwell in 1999; she survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Eleanor Wilson, Carolyn Connelly and Pat Ryan, all of Martinsville; two stepsons, Gordon and Don Crutchfield both of Martinsville; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three wives, Lena Rae Smith, Trella Sarah Crawford and Muriel Lorraine Hills; one brother; and one sister.
Mr. Maxwell was a retired Velsicol engineer, and owned and operated Maxwell Instruments for many years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martinsville, and a life member of the Clark Lodge No. 603 Grand Lodge of AF & AM of State of Illinois, Supreme Council of SG Inspectors General No. 33 of the AA Scottish Rite.
