WESTFIELD - Robert Rex Goble, 78, of Westfield, died at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 1999, at Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 31, 1999, at Markwell Westfield Chapel, Westfield, with the Rev. Joe Grozik officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Westfield. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday (tonight) at the Chapel.
He was born March 5, 1921, in Westfield, the son of Bruce and Marie Walters Goble. He married Norma Douglas in 1944. She died in 1952. He married Shirley Krietemeyer on January 7, 1955. She survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Sharon Mattingly Hall and husband Larry of Decatur; three sons, Bruce Goble and friend Sarah Bennett of Effingham, Rex Goble and wife Chrissy of Westfield, and Chris Goble of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; five grandchildren, and two step-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Rosemary, and infant twin daughters.
Mr. Goble was a retired elementary and high school teacher for over 30 years of music, history and driver's education. He returned to the family farm in 1973. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Westfield, and a graduate of Westfield High School and Eastern Illinois Teachers College. He taught school in Hindsboro, Brocton, Catlin, Newman, and Hutsonville.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Westfield United Methodist Church, or the EIU Music Department.
Ruth Hankenson
CHARLESTON - Ruth Hankenson of Charleston died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 29, 1999) at Prairie View in Charleston.

Blake Lane
SULLIVAN - Blake Edward Lane, age 20, of Sullivan, died Tuesday, December 28, 1999 in Mt. Prospect, IL.
Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, conducted by Rev. Dr. David Leslie. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials suggested to the Sullivan Athletic Boosters or the 1st Christian Church, Sullivan.
Mr. Lane was born November 14, 1979 in Decatur, IL, the son of Douglas Edward and Theresa Marie Booker Lane. He was an apprentice lineman for the Local #51 of the IL Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, and a member of the 1st Christian Church, Sullivan. During his high school years he became a record holder of the 400 Meter Dash, the 300 Meter Intermediate Hurdles, and was a member of the 1600 Meter Relay team. During his Senior Year he was 3rd place winner of the State Track Meet. His favorite pastimes were fishing and being with his friends.
Surviving are his parents, Doug and Theresa Lane of Sullivan, brothers, Brett and Dustin both at home, grandparents, Richard and Dorothy (Sadie) Booker of Sullivan and Evelyn Lane of Sullivan. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Leon Lane. He also leaves behind many cherished friends.
George A. Martin
SULLIVAN - George A. Martin, age 71, of Sullivan, died Wednesday, December 29, 1999 in his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Sullivan, conducted by Rev. Dr. David Leslie. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery, Sullivan. Memorials suggested Moultrie County Chapter of the American Cancer Society or the 1st Christian Church, Sullivan.
Mr. Martin was born on October 12, 1928 in Sullivan, he was the son of Carl A. and Bessie Burtcheard Martin. He was a retired farmer of 52 years, a member of the First Christian Church in Sullivan and was a member of the First National Bank board for 28 years. He married Sylvia F. Bolin November 13, 1949 in Sullivan, and she survives along with sons, Roger A. Martin of Oakland, Cal., and Philip Lee Martin and wife Laura of Sullivan; sister Rosemary Ulmer of Murphysboro, and grandchildren, Blake, Bryan and Melinda Martin, all of Sullivan.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Evelyn L. Hatten
TOLEDO - Evelyn L. Hatten, age 72 of Toledo passed away Monday, Dec. 27, 1999 at Provena Covenant Medical Center, Urbana, IL.
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Dec. 30 at 10:30 AM at Toledo Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 Thursday at the Barkley Funeral Home, Toledo, with Rev. Jack Jenkins officiating.
Evelyn has born July 9, 1927 in Cumberland County, the daughter of Roy Charles & Mary (Talbott) Oakley. She married Daniel L. Hatten in 1944. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by one son Stephen L. Hatten of Toledo, one daughter Mrs. Greg (Ida) Ealy of Watson, IL, one grandson Daniel Ealy of Watson, sisters Delores Walker and Glovene Cody of Tampa, Fla., brother Bernard Oakley of Athens, Ga., and special caregiver Tim Lucas of Toledo, IL.
Evelyn was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked several years at Kehnue Mfg. Co., Mattoon, IL, operated a second hand shop in Toledo.

Carrye Hutcherson
MATTOON - Carrye Mae Hutcherson, 66, of Mattoon, died at 2 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Funeral Home, Paris, Tenn., with the Rev. Andre Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
She was born Feb. 24, 1933, in Paris, Tenn., the daughter of Frank and Stella Provine Hutcherson.
Surviving are two brothers, R. H. Hutcherson of Gibson City and R. L. Hutcherson of Paris, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Miss Hutcherson was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Wayne E. Maxwell
URBANA - Wayne E. Maxwell, 84, of Urbana, died at 5:10 p.m. Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at his home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 1999, at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana, with the Rev. Dan Hill officiating. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Charleston. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (tonight) at Renner-Wikoff Chapel, Urbana.
He was born Feb. 19, 1915, in Charleston, the son of Grover and Estella Gaston Maxwell. He married Betty Jeanne Johnson on March 30, 1940, in St. Louis, Mo. She died May 31, 1987.
Surviving are four sons, Gary Maxwell of Mahomet, Robert Maxwell of Farmer City, Charles Maxwell of Mansfield, and Morris Maxwell of Middleton, Wis.; six daughters, Nancy Mansfield of Urbana, Rebecca Seawell of Riverside, Calif., Marlene Hedrick of Urbana, Christine Welch of Kathleen, Ga., Sara Short of Urbana, and Margaret Cooke of Champaign; special friend, Marilyn Mumm of Sidney; 22 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Mr. Maxwell was a Navy veteran of World War II, attended Charleston Public Schools and was a Carpenter for Local #44 in Champaign, Ill. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Mahomet, Ill., Urbana American Legion, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America which he was a 50-year member of. Mr. Maxwell was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He received his 50 year membership pin from Carpenters Local #44 in 1997. He was a well known finish carpenter in the Champaign Urbana area. He began his trade at the age of 13 in his uncles woodworking shop in Charleston, Ill., and served his Journeyman years in Hammond, Ind. Many of the buildings erected on the U.I.U.C. campus from the 1950s through the mid 1970s display his finish work. He retired in 1978.

Calvin Seaton
MARTINSVILLE - Calvin Seaton, 84, of Champaign, formerly of Martinsville, died at 7:40 p.m. Monday (Dec. 27, 1999) at the Care Center of Champaign.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Greenwell Funeral Home, Martinsville, with the Rev. Mark Doane officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Clark County. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1915, in Martinsville, the son of Joseph and Ruey Washburn Seaton.
Surviving are three sons, Gary Seaton of Champaign, Lowell Seaton of Sadorus, and Kenneth Seaton of St. Joseph; one daughter, Barbara Norcutt of Council Bluffs, Iowa; one sister, Rosalee Larkin of Casey; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Seaton was a retired carpenter and a member of the Carpenters Local No. 44, Champaign.
Donald Crites
THREE HILLS, ALBERTA, CANADA - Donald E. Crites, 84, formerly of Mattoon, died Wednesday (Dec. 22, 1999) in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada.
The funeral will be today in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada.
He was born July 16, 1915, in Mattoon, the son of Edward and Dora Noll Crites. He married Ruth Irvine in 1944. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, James T. Crites of Calgary, Alberta, Canada; one daughter, Donna Crites of Three Hills, Alberta, Canada; one brother, Maurice N. Crites of Mattoon; and one sister, Edna E. Davidson of Mattoon.
He was preceded in death by one sister.
Mr. Crites was a Journal Gazette carrier until accepting employment in the printing plant. He resigned in 1946 as plant foreman, then attended Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills. While there he assisted with the construction of several campus buildings. He worked as director of the print shop before becoming a vice president and personnel director, serving in that capacity for 20 years. He was pastor of Manor Gospel Church for 15 years.
