PORTAGE, IND. - James P. Farrell, 95, of Portage, Ind., formerly of Casey, died at 12:10 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at his son's home.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. today at Markwell and Son Funeral Home, Casey, with Father Jeff Grant officiating. Burial will be in Washington Street Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time today at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 3, 1904, in St. Louis, Mo., the son of William J. and Mary Curran Farrell. He married Lola Easton in 1939. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, William J. Farrell of Portage, Ind.; one daughter, Marilyn Stopek of Decatur; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Farrell was a pipefitter for over 50 years, a member of the Casey Moose Lodge for over 50 years, a member of the Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, Portage, Ind., and of the Local 157 Plumbers and Steamfitters Union, Terre Haute.

Gene Heneberry
BETHANY - Maurice Eugene "Gene" Heneberry, 81, of Bethany, died at 5:30 a.m. on Monday, December 27, 1999 at St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Church in Mt. Zion. Burial with military rites will be at St. Isidore Cemetery in Bethany. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home, Bethany, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials suggested to the Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Church or the Donor's Choice.
Mr. Heneberry was born in Bethany, IL on July 23, 1918, the son of Emmett D. and Agnes B. Morrison Heneberry. He graduated in 1936 from Bethany High School, employed by Brown Shoe Co., Sullivan for 5 years, served as president and secretary of Moultrie County Rural Youth, served 25 years on board of Bethany Grain Company, 9 of those years he served as president, served 3 years as Secretary for Moultrie County Soil and Water District, served 6 years for Moultrie County Regional Planning Commission, was a W.W. II Air Force Veteran and discharged as Master Sergeant of Military Police. Served 1 term as president of the Moultrie County Historical and Genealogical Society and 3 years as trustee, served several years as Supervisor of bin sites A.S.C., worked 5 years for Coca Cola in Dallas, TX, was past commander of Bethany Legion Post 507, Past Post Commander of Moultrie County, served several years on Bethany Zoning Board, was a member of the Our Lady of the Holy Spirit Church in Mt. Zion, and retired from farming after 36 years. Mr. Heneberry was an avid gardener and loved to share his produce with friends. He married Doris M. Hoskins August 27, 1966 in Dalton City, and she survives. He also leaves an Aunt, Margaret Morrison of Decatur, a brother, Joseph Heneberry of St. Louis, sisters, Dorothy Heneberry of Washington, DC and Maureen Nye of Albuquerque, NM. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Arthur Hinson
CHARLESTON - Arthur P. Hinson, 79, of Charleston, formerly of Effingham, died at 12:25 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 23, 1999) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral was Sunday, Dec. 26, at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Burial was in Shouse Chapel, rural Louisville.
He was born Oct. 30, 1920 in Madison, the son of Earl and Hazel Rote Hinson. He married Gene Winterrowd in 1946. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Paul Hinson of Oakland and Kirk Hinson of Grosse Ile, Mich.; three sisters, Dorothy Hinson and Norman Hillmer, both of Madison, and Eunic Whitsell of Granite City; two grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
Mr. Hinson was a retired teacher and guidance counselor for Unit 40 teaching at Effingham High from 1963 to 1975. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, American Legion Post No. 307, Madison, the Marine Corps League, Effingham, and was a U.S. Marine veteran of WW II.

Arnold Macke
WEST UNION - Arnold C. Macke, 83, of rural West Union, died at 4:55 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at Burnsides Nursing Home, Marshall.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Prust-Hosch Funeral Chapel, West Union, with Pastor Dave Kelly officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and also before the service Wednesday.
He was born Nov. 2, 1916, in Clark County. He married Mary Spittler in 1940. She survives.
Also surviving are five sons, Joe Macke and Ken Macke, both of West Union, John Macke and Dr. Steve Macke, both of Marshall, and David Lynn Macke of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Alice Schroeder of Marshall and Sue Shaw of Woodstock; one sister, Selda Jackson of Columbus, Ohio; 16 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Mr. Macke was a farmer. He was a member of the Clark County Farm Bureau, serving on its board of directors, was a 50-year member of York Lodge No. 313 A.F. & A.M. of West Union, and had served several terms on the Marshall C-2 Unit school board.
Memorials may be made to the Marshall School Foundation or the Brick United Methodist Church.
O. Louise Manis
CHARLESTON - O. Louise Manis, 84, of Charleston, formerly of Effingham, died at 5:30 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 23, 1999) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral was Sunday, Dec. 26, at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham. Burial was in Shouse Chapel Cemetery, rural Louisville.
She was born March 19, 1915, in Bible Grove, the daughter of Kirk Allen and Alphea Lewis Winterrowd. She married Alfred Manis in 1939. He died in 1994.
Surviving are two brothers, Doyne E. Winterrowd of Effingham and Lewis A. Winterrowd of Lebanon; and one sister, Gene Hinson of Charleston.
Mrs. Manis was a retired school teacher and principal in Unit 40, having taught at Westside Grade School and Effingham High School. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.

Esther Martin
ASHMORE - Esther Marion Martin, 73, of Ashmore, died at 2 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Harper-Swickard Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Gene Sims officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
She was born March 14, 1926, in Coles County, the daughter of Clyde and Bessie Parker. She married Harry M. Martin. He died in 1976.
Surviving are one son, William J. Martin of Kansas; three brothers, Wesley Parker of Charleston, Brad Parker of Kentucky, and Jerry Parker of LaSalle; one sister, Frances Washburn of Mendota; five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by one son and one daughter.
Mrs. Martin worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Charleston, and later as an aide for the Hilltop Convalescent Center, Charleston, where she retired in 1974.
Johnnie McKelvey
EFFINGHAM - Johnnie Francis McKelvey, 73, of Effingham, formerly of Mattoon, died at St. Anthony's Hospital.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Effingham. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Bauer Funeral Home, Effingham.
He was born Aug. 10, 1926, in Tulsa, Okla., the son of William D. and Edna Harris McKelvey. He married Lois A. Mireau in 1950. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, William McKelvey of Redlands, Calif.; four daughters, Deloris Ellis of Roscoe, Karen McKelvey of Machesney Park, Laura Jones of Charleston, and Donna Hecht of Effingham; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one infant brother.
Mr. McKelvey was a member of the U.S. Navy during WW II. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Harley Davidson Dresser Club. He held a life membership in the American Motorcycle Association. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and since his retirement had been employed at Dan Hecht Chevrolet and Toyota, Effingham.
Albert Paul
CHARLESTON - Albert Edward "Ed" Paul, 85, of Charleston, died at 8:35 a.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at Prairie View Convalescent Home.
A memorial service will be at a later date. Harper-Swickard Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Thomas Williams
GREENUP - Thomas L. Williams, 84, of Greenup, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 26, 1999) at Mattoon Health Care Center.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Barkley Funeral Home, Greenup, with the Rev. Tim Pearce officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, rural Greenup. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Greenup, the son of Charles and Letta Carr Williams. He married Louise Stewart in 1937. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Charles Williams of Lakeside, Calif.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
Mr. Williams was a school custodian, a member of Hazel Dell American Legion, and Toledo United Methodist Church.
