LOVINGTON - Margaret E. Fread, 83, of Lovington, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, (July 27, 2000) at her residence.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the McMullin-Young Funeral Home in Lovington. Burial will be in Keller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
She was born Jan. 28, 1917, in Moultrie County, the daughter of John Dyer and Mary Belle Clevenger.
She married Harold S. Fread on 1937. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Danny L. Fread of Westminster, Md., and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death one sister and one son.
Mrs. Fread was retired from Glancy Hardware in Lovington and a member of the First United Methodist Church and Moultrie County Genealogical and Historical Society.
Pat Garlock
Marilyn J. "Pat" Garlock, age 67, of Mattoon, passed away at 9:35 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2000, at the Provena Covenant Medical Center in Urbana.
The funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Ben Cartright and the Reverend Pete Wood officiating. Burial will be in the Dodge Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. this (Monday) evening at the funeral home.
Pat was born in Des Moines, Iowa on October 25, 1932, the daughter of Lloyd and Rose Velt Bishop Norris.
She married Donald E. Garlock on June 11, 1950.
Survivors include her husband, Donald E. Garlock of Mattoon; three sons, Kevin R. Anderson of Des Moines, Iowa, Mickey E. Garlock of Mattoon and Randal L. Garlock and wife Cindy of Mattoon; two daughters, Christine R. Kessler and husband Bradley of Stewardson and Donna L. Abel and husband David of Neoga; one brother, Charles H. Norris of Mason City, Iowa; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
Mrs. Garlock worked for Brown Shoe Company, Anamet (formerly Anaconda Brass), and retired from Taylor's I.G.A. in 1988. She was a member of the Winebrenner Church of God and was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

V. Corinne Hendy
SULLIVAN - V. Corinne Sefton Hendy, 88, of Sullivan, formerly of Mattoon, died at 10:05 a.m. Friday (July 28, 2000) in the Illinois Masonic Home.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Illinois Masonic Home Chapel, Sullivan, with the Rev. Mike Brandenburger officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Reed Funeral Home in Sullivan is in charge of the arrangements.
She was born Jan. 3, 1912, in Xenia, the daughter of Pirl and Carrie Belle Colclasure Henderson.
She married Robert Sefton in 1934; he died in 1963. She married Joe Hendy in 1973; he died in 1978.
Surviving are two daughters, Sandra Wirth of Sullivan and Sherry Adams of Elizabethtown, Ky.; one sister, Iona Allison of Sterling; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Hendy was a member of the Mattoon Christian Church.

Carroll Kannmacher
MARTINSVILLE - Carroll Kannmacher, 85, of Martinsville died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday (July 29, 2000) at the Burnside Nursing Home in Marshall.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Greenwell Funeral Home in Martinsville. Burial will be in Marshall Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with Masonic and Order of the Eastern Star Memorial Services beginning at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was born August 28, 1914, in Allright, the son of John Ferry and Edna English Kannmacher.
He married Edith Hendrix. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Joe Kannmacher of Sandwich and Lowell Kannmacher of Eureka; two daughters, Marolyn Fasig of Sidney, Mont., and Nadine Zordani of Watseka; two sisters, Ann Maxwell of Martinsville and Evelyn Secrest of Casey; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.
Mr. Kannmacher was retired from the E. Rowe Foundry in Martinsville and a member of the Island Grove Baptist Church, Clark Lodge 603 AF & AM, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite-Valley of Danville and Saint Grace Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star.
Helen Joy Brown Morton
TRILLA - Helen Joy Brown Morton, 87, of Trilla, passed away at 11:39 a.m. Friday (July 28, 2000) at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2000 at Buck Grove Community Church with Pastor Ed Stephens officiating. Interment will be in Beals Cemetery, rural Trilla. Visitation was Sunday evening at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.
Helen was born March 14, 1913 near Trilla, daughter of Wilbur and Bessie Kelly Brown.
She married William J. Morton May 17, 1930 in Terre Haute, Indiana, he died June 2, 1996.
Helen and William had three children. Dale Lynn Morton, Mary Caroline Nichols, and Mildred Fern Suhl.
Mary and Mildred, as well as her parents, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Dale and his wife Joan of Trilla, sons-in-laws: Oscar Nichols of Trilla, and Glenn Suhl of Sullivan; a sister, Ada Mae Beals of Lerna; and a half-brother: Mark Larwance of Litchfield. Eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Helen was a charter member of Buck Grove Community Church and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Lloyd Stone
LEROY - Lloyd D. Stone, 69, of LeRoy, died at 2 a.m. Sunday (July 30, 2000) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in LeRoy with the Pastor Rudy Bond officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. in Janesville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born May 17, 1931, in Cumberland County, the son of Delmar and Carrie Warner Stone.
He married Jean G. Shirley in 1990. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Alan B. Stone of Ellsworth; one daughter, Teresa (Terri) Clark of Decatur; one brother, Don Stone of Tampa, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two sons.
Mr. Stone served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Vernon Tharp
MATTOON - Vernon E. Tharp, 84, of Mattoon, died at 6:50 a.m. Sunday (July 30, 2000) at the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert C. Clark officiating. Burial will be in Windsor Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
He was born July 3, 1916, the son of Lafayette and Anna Mulvaney Tharp.
Surviving are two sisters, Juanita Cutright of Mattoon and Freda Soliday of El Paso, Texas.
Mr. Tharp was a retired farmer and World War II Army veteran.
Charles Winkleblack
MATTOON - Charles Winkleblack, 83, of Mattoon, died Sunday (July 30, 2000) at his residence.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home with the Pastor Doug Woods officiating. Burial will be in the Enon Cemetery in Ashmore. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
He was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Ashmore Township, the son of Walter G. and Eula Martin Winkleblack.
He married Clara Ann Sowers in 1943. She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, Eula Mae Mince of Mattoon, Dorothy Winings of Gays and Charlette Mince of Bridgeport, Ala.; three sons, Lewis Duaine of Lerna, Charles Allen of Windsor and Ernest Glenn of Mattoon; three brothers, Robert G. of Charleston, Theron P. of Ashmore, and Cyril D. of Charleston; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother and two brothers.
Mr. Winkleblack was a U.S. Army veteran of the World War II European Theater and was a security guard and farmer. He retired from Young's Radiator in 1979. He was a member of the Enon Baptist Church in Ashmore.
Billy Easton
BEREA, Ky. - Billy Eugene Easton, of Berea, Ky., died at 12:10 p.m. Thursday (July 27, 2000) at his residence.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Harper-Swickard Funeral Home in Charleston with Rev. Bill Boaz officiating. Entombment with military rites will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon, IL. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Saturday (July 29, 2000) at the funeral home.
He was born Dec. 5, 1923, Charleston, IL, the son of William S. Easton and Mayme Ruth Stites Easton.
He married Agnes E. Swart on Aug. 10, 1946 in Charleston, IL. She survives.
Other survivors include children: Dorothy "Dottie" and Don Mau of Berea, Ky. Michael and Carla Easton of Nickasville, Ky. Diana and Bill Martin of Kansas, IL, Daryl and Cindy Easton of Lompoc, Calif., Cassandra "Kris" and David Foster of Sacramento, Calif. Eight grandchildren, five step grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Ben Easton of Lerna, IL, Betty Strong of Janesville IL, Jo Ann Sexton of Bloomington, IN, Beverly Cane of Janesville IL, Burl Easton of Amarillo, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Bob and Bruce Easton; two granddaughters.
Mr. Easton was employed by the Department of Justice as a Sr. Lt. in Special Investigation. He had worked for 20 years and retired in 1983. He was a WW II Army veteran having served from 1942 - 1946. He was a member of the Charleston VFW Post.
